I was in the middle of writing my comment when I heard my name! 😂 Thank you so much for the shoutout ❤
This is such an enjoyable episode - the sounds of the birds are super relaxing to listen to and I am LOVING all of the blues and greens you’re planning on working with! Also I’ve just started a 2 colour brioche scarf and as a fellow beginner brioche knitter I think you’ll be grand knitting the Agnete cardigan. Can’t wait to see your progress!
Last thing - the colours in my striped poppy tee didn’t run when I hand washed it in warm water. That’s the project I used cotton merino held double for too. But definitely block your swatch to be sure

Thank you so much for sharing your perspective on how to prioritize projects. Logically, I know that I can only knit about 1 garment a month, but it's so easy to convince myself I can do more than that! Yours was a wise reminder to be mindful about how much I commit myself to so that knitting can remain enjoyable and not become stressful. Also, I'm with you - I think true summer knits are hard to wear, but transitional pieces like tee shirts and cardigans can still feel seasonably appropriate to knit and are more versatile overall. I'm excited to see how your transitional knits turn out!

My first brioche project was a cardigan! The FAB cardigan. Beginning it was SO frustrating (it is a raglan construction) because I didn’t understand how to count stitches in brioche, so my stitch count seemed not to be matching up with what the pattern said. But once I got past that hurdle it was totally fine. I say go for it 😊

23:05 The abuela tank would be cute as a layering piece, kinda like the Helianthus top you have now. It's high necked enough to wear in a business casual setting under a blazer, and you can wear a summer shirt over it like you have now during the day. It would probably be most comfortable in summer nights when you don't need to worry about the sun.
My first thought for the blue cotton is the rannunculus!

Hi Sarah, in terms of colour bleeding: as this topic came up a couple of times on other podcasts I listened to, I will happily share other peoples advice. They definitely recommend using colour catching sheets, like three in one washing, or using vibigar. Some recommend use both, the sheets and vinegar. However, to be on the save side, you can create a swatch with both colours and give it a wash. 😊

Am finishing a pair of Hiedra mitts, then about to start a dark forest green pullover for myself. I cannot make a full garment a month, so my wish list grows…. A teaspoon of vinegar in with your striped swatch should do the trick, I’ve always had success with that trick!

I'm really glad that you keep doing this, it's always a joy to see you! About the cotton-merino... I know that Florence made a summer top with it this summer in similar colors and from what I remember she said it did not bleed. But it's best to check with a swatch, from what I know the pH of the water counts too in this.

I'm so with you on summer knits. I've done a few t-shirts and this past summer (I'm in the northern hemisphere) I didnt' wear them at all, so like you, I've started knitting transitional weather sweaters during summer. I knit a Tolsta with 3/4 length sleeves and our weather just turned and I wore it for the first time and it was perfect. Also: I was just looking at the Zipper Sweater Light and can't wait to see yours as I won't get to it until early next year.

So glad you keep the podcast going! (even though we miss Paige)
I made the taipei vest mid-year and I would recommend to not use cotton. I don't know how it would work up in a cotton-merino blend? I did a cabled tank in cotton-merino this year as well and I don't know how to describe it but the yarn did not vibe with the cables. I think I used kfo if that helps? The fabric didn't drape the way I wanted it to and after all of the work, I really wished I just used a lighter alpaca yarn instead. Obviously my experience and preference :) but it never occurred to me that cotton blends maybe weren't great for cables.

Loving the colours you are working with this season! I have a peashoot green Nutiden yarn that I bought when I apparently blacked out and bought ALL THE UNSPUN 😂 am also planning a cardigan but probably the Lo Ki cardigan/jacket that is a lot like the Miles jacket, so I can try my hand at steeking. I also love a dark mohair with a light base, after reading the blog post from Tin Can Knits about it, I feel the dark fluff gives it so much depth and almost a bit of magic/mystery 😍 can't wait to see how your projects turn out. I personally would make the nautical stripe tank in 4 ply for the Aussie climate, but it's been a few years since I lived in Melbourne 🙈 DK is for sure too thick for anything after late spring in Perth
