- Welcome to my walkthrough series of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards! In this playthrough, I will cover the gameplay of all the planets/stars/worlds in Kirby 64 all the way until the Final Boss fight! I really hope you enjoy this Kirby 64 no commentary series.
📝 Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is a platformer Kirby game developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. It was first released in Japan on March 24, 2000, in North America on June 26, 2000, and in Europe on June 22, 2001. It is considered the fourth and final installment in the Kirby's Dream Land saga, after Kirby's Dream Land 3.
On the planet of Ripple Star, lives a group of kind and peaceful fairies. The planet itself is protected from danger by the power of the great Crystal, which watches over Ripple Star. This power, however, draws the attention of the Dark Matter, who wish to use the great crystal for their own evil agenda. They attack and search for the crystal, blackening the sky and sending the fairies into panic.
In response to the threat Dark Matter presents, the queen of Ripple Star orders a fairy named Ribbon to take to crystal to a safe place. Ribbon tries to fly away with the crystal in tow, but is stopped by three Dark Matter. The crystal shatters into 74 pieces, scattered throughout several planets, and Ribbon crashes onto Planet Popstar. Kirby finds one crystal and gives it to Ribbon, whereupon the two set out to find the others.

👉🏽Shiver Star (Buruburu Star in the Japanese version) is the fifth planet visited by Kirby, Ribbon, Adeleine, King Dedede, and Waddle Dee in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It is a world perpetually covered in ice and snow.
In circumstances not clear, the planet's inhabitants all had to move in the past, and left behind little more than buildings and factories which continue working long after their departure. The boss of the planet is HR-H/HR-E.
Fun Facts:
In Kirby: Triple Deluxe's Kirby Fighters sub-game, there is a stage based off of Stage 4 of Shiver Star. It is called Factory Tour. This stage reappears in Kirby Fighters Deluxe.
Shiver Star bears a strong resemblance to planet Earth. It even has an orbiting moon, just like Earth. The planet even supported a civilization with similar buildings to those seen in real life (such as the shopping mall and factory seen in Stages 3 and 4). This has led some fans to believe that Shiver Star may actually be Earth frozen over.

I think the joke with that was Adeline not having a "sugar coated" view of the world like Kirby and the others have.

Never noticed this before, but when selecting a level, the makeshift "table" that Ado's sketchbook rests is made up of a stack of old tires, a piece of cardboard and a "DANGER! NO TRESPASSING" sign all upon some sort of metallic structure possibly a bolted shut sealed entry way to an underground area. And considering the last level... I don't think I have to guess what area the entry way might lead to.

Although the Forgotten Land resembles the Earth currently as much as (or even far more than) Shiver Star, there’s no absolute proof that the Forgotten Land IS Shiver Star. They just have the same trait.

It's implied from Kirby and the Forgotten Land that the forgotten land was a planet of the Ancients, which might mean that Ancients were humans and that Hyness is just a modified human himself.

considering how kirby-like the mage sisters and haltmanns are, we can guess that humans are trying to imitate the inhabitants by modifying their offspring to resemble them.
after the orbit of earth changed even far then what it was, people has survived until they escaped earth and colonize on other weird planets, ever since then, there were bombers, fire things, living snowmans and etc
i wouldn't think the Orbit was the cause of Shiver Star moving away from its Home Star

I’m not that much into Kirby but Terminalmontage has shown me that we see this game throu Kirby’s perspective which is a cute lens…. For us humans… this is something dark something terrifying and absolutely horrible, theoretically the last stand of humans….. this shiver star is hell it’s the final reminder of humans assuming it is humans. There’s nothing left, no people but reminders that a society existed, and those enemies r not cute little round things they r dangerous human eating creatures

The New World has a made up language, the Shiver Star level select has a "no trespassing" sign written in English. Shiver Star is Earth, and the New World plays into the (fringe) theory that humans aren't originally from Earth (think something like Battlestar Galactica).

Yeah Humans went to somewhere safe from all the aliens and lived there.
Uh is this earth...what happened to it
Two theories exist:
-Scientists made the boss robot which became sentient and destroyed humanity by causing a nuclear winter
-or President Haltmann from Planet Robobot colonized Earth, made the robot to stop military forces from stopping him and took Earth's ressources which made the planet die
I also have a personal theory that Earth was actually destroyed by Galacta Knight. Scientists made the robot to protect the last remain of life (like the cat in the testing tube) and programmed it to destroy anything that looks like Galacta, cue it attacking Kirby

Considering all the drama that is happening in the current year, i wish it wasn't 2020 lol.
All these cleverly placed enemies and interesting level designs, made pointless by Kirby being too powerful for his own good. I get that these games aren't supposed to be very challenging, but why put in all that effort!? I see an amazing game here, too bad I can't play it!

I finished replaying this game recently and honestly I didn't enjoy playing it at all. I love Kirby but this game has the worst physics and controls making for a very frustrating experience.
You get hit by an enemy it's like a pinball effect which for a Stage like the factory is extremely annoying.
Almost as if the Developers knew this and placed too many enemies and hazards in the levels on purpose to add artificial difficulty to it.

The only problem I had with it as a kid is that you couldn't fly forever
I thought the game was too easy, honestly. I never had this problem. I have never heard this complaint before. That is unfortunate that you were having that problem.
Gotta say, I like this game, but I agree. The controls and physics kinda suck and Kirby moves very slowly.
