Stop calling this bullying. This is straight up assault, and those kids should be charged as such.

Not true. Maybe some, but not all. I was bullied in the 5th grade and my dad taught me how to fight back. He also told me to document everything from informing my teacher and principal to telling my bully to stop, which is why I didn't get expelled or suspended when I fought back. The only way for bullies to respect and leave you alone is to give them a reason not to mess with you. I did and ended up breaking my bully's main front tooth with an elbow strike to his face. I still remember the whole fight to this day.

Well I do agree with the sentiment, you can't always do that. You can't just get up and take them out of the school and quickly transfer to a new school. And if your kid is out of school for too long they can be seen as true and forced to go back to school. Not everyone has an option to switch schools especially if you don't have the money to pay to transfer to a school outside your district cuz sometimes that is the only solution.
Homeschools also an option but not everybody has the availability and the income from one parent to homeschool

Teacher here... I have had many instances where kids are bullied. I have reported this to management on numerous occasions. Management would try to curb the bullying, it does not necessarily help. After a child have assaulted another child, they are still allowed to stay in school or return to school the very next day and there is nothing we can do about is. Because according to law EVERY child is entitled to an education, even the bullies... It's the law that needs to change, we do not want those bullies near the other kids, but according to law we are not allowed to do anything about it. I do not want this to happen to any of my kids in my school... We need to actively change the law please.

It’s only because their bosses might either be sleeping with the wrong emotions, or that they’re afraid to suss out the wrong people, or even deduce what’s keeping the students from actually learning anything. The teachers are having it rough nowadays to where they and the parents aren’t getting along. The schools aren’t callous, they’re afraid of losing the reputation placed on them by the hierarchies they’re under, even if they are bitter to those with actual morals derived from the heart.

He wasnt lying tho. Theres a difference between having continual communication about a situation and actually filing a report - and THAT is the problem with these school systems... That they dont inform the parents that "do you want to file a report"? and inform them about the beurocratic processes in the school system. I guess most people think that as long as they verbally talk to the school or write an email, then everything is "reported"... In situations like these I personally think that the first thing a school should do when parents report serious bullying (both physical assault and emotional torment) is to have the CPS come in with strict rutines of evaluating the bully's mental health and advice a plan on how to stop them from continuing what they are doing. My teenage son went through hell the first 3 years of public school, and at the end of the 1st semester the 3rd year he threatened to kill himself..and right after Christmas another mother called me and told me she discovered why her son was so depressed, and a bullying situation was uncovered in their class. It turned out two girls were running a very manipulating bullying scheme where they gave out cookies to the kids they accepted, forced some other students to get cookies or candy from their parents they could use. They were brutally bullying several kids, and got these other kids to join them out of fear to not get votes accepted when they did their cookie praisal days. Turned out they threatened a lot of the boys with violence from other boys if they didnt act as their slaves..(it could be things like walking that girl home from school, being their boyfriend etc)..they systematically bullied my son who had learning disabilities (later diagnosed dyslexic), would sit behind him in class and whisper things about his hair, me his mother etc... We confronted the school and had a meeting with the parents and a school representative and at the third meeting one mother literally said that she still didnt understand what she was doing there!!!! I was like WTF? Your daughter is literally the brain behind this whole horrible terrorizing system. One girl they would constantly bully, saying lets play hide and seek and you can hide here so noone will find you because we dont want to see you ever again... Locked her inside a room during a birthday party so that noone would "have to spend time with her". The school had a talk with the girls and literally the same day the two girls threatened a boy with getting beat up when he said he couldnt walk the girl home after school because he had to follow his 6 year old brother home from school. So the girls had zero understanding of the "serious talk" the school claimed to have had with them that day. The school did nothing but be Neutral as they called it, so at the end of that year I took him out of the school and got him into a Waldorf school. Best decision of my life. When those parents denied that their kids had done what they did despite several parents reporting them, I knew that these kids will never behave better because their parents are completely brain dead. Narcissists and sociopaths the lot of them. I still have ptsd issues after that situation. I feel physically ill if I drive by that school or see the kids or their parents or even just hear someone say the same name as one of those girls. And I honestly have so many dark thoughts about what I would like to do to their parents who ENABLED the abuse. They are disgusting human beings. The only thing they did was attack the parents of the bullied kids

All phone records should be seized for ipp addresses. how districts handle bullying has been dead wrong for the last 15 years. Those kids need expulsion and go to their own special school with lots of mental help. Stop transferring these kids around to repeat it at other schools with more victims. This also needs to happen with poor learners. Im the 80's these students had there own designated campuses or sections of school with its own fenced in yard. It worked well. In fact, my 13 yr old just got suspended the other week because he shoved a boy his size, that was punching and slapping a friend who was smaller than they are. My children stick up for any kids that are teased and bullied. They know that if they get in trouble for sticking up for a kid who either can’t defend themselves or is being picked on, they won’t be in trouble at home. I take bullying extremely seriously.

One day he pulls out a knife from his bag and said some threats. Forget the principal, forget the teacher. I went straight to the school police officer on duty. They pulled him to the side, frisked him, found his knife and the next 10 years of his life really sucked. Apparently he could barely get a job after high school too. No regrets on my choice to report it.

Bullying is a symptom of teachers with low IQ'S who are inept in controlling the class & can't be bothered too. Teachers have really dropped in quality over the years. They get dumber, like the rest of society as time goes on. It's the quality of the ppl themselves that has dropped drastically. I see it esp in all of those in roles of authority. An orang utan would do a better job than most if these ppl today. For a start these animals aren't on drugs like the ppl are. It's the booze, alcohol and low IQ'S that have turned them into the mushrooms they have become.

I was bullied from 1st to 7th grade but during 2nd grade when I had to live with my grandparents for a little bit, my mom told me "if anyone hits you, hit them back" and I did. I cried afterwards because I hurt someone but we both got detention and I never dealt with the kid after that. For the rest of the school years, I figured out this really neat trick that didn't involve violence and worked like a charm every time, at every school. I simply didn't react or give the reaction any bully wanted and they left me alone. Simply, easy, and took zero effort. Let the kids fight back and stand up for themselves, it's the most liberating thing you can do to get out from under their boot. That kid would still be alive if he had the confidence that the adults would let him stand up for himself without huge severe repercussion for himself and getting blamed as the initiator. In an environment of weak, meek all female educators there is no hope for a boy like that. She was an Air Force brat, raised all over the world, had friends from all ethnic backgrounds. So she couldn't understand why the black girls were constantly threatening her until a friendly student told her they hate white girls and just act cra-cra. That worked, she started killing them with 'kindness' in a way, it freaked them out. Every time they would threaten her, instead of fear...she would respond with delight. Well, that and she kicked the ass of the one girl who grabbed her hair. She grew up in some rough areas, being able to defend yourself was something she learned very young.

I tried to tell them, was ignored or given bullshit responses, and so gave up trying to get their help or let them know what was going on. The school staff were the same. Oblivious. I'd have kids twice my age openly tormenting me, throwing rocks at me, slapping my head calling me 'pigshave' and punching me in the arms and legs, sometimes right in front of adults, and when I'd come to the teacher crying about it, or the recess lady, I'd get "Oh, it won't go on much longer. The thing is, the overwhelming majority of schools DO have a zero tolerance policy against bullying! In theory, anyway. They just blow off reports or put the onus on the bullied kid by telling them to just avoid the bully, don't go anywhere the bully will be, try to be their friend, or my favorite, "toughen up." The bullied kid MIGHT get sent the school guidance counselor a few times, and then it's over. The bully is never confronted. No investigation is ever done. Honestly, it's an epidemic.

The family should sue. People should be fired at that school. The kids who bullied him should be held accountable and so should their parents. And they should be charged with assault. I went face to face with them and told them NEVER TO even talk to her again. Granted, they were in higher grade school...but I handled it. Then, when my other daughter went to an inner city school and bullied relentlessly....I pulled her out and paid for private school...when I couldn't afford that, I signed them up for virtual school9ng through Flvs. PARENTS FIGHT FOR YOUR KIDS!!!!

I used to come home in second grade with bruises all over my legs. My parents went to the school. About a week later the principal talked to the entire second grade about how bullying was unacceptable and it got better. That principal was awesome.
A few years later he retired though and the next principal was a do-nothing jerk. In 5th grade two kids were following me home from school on their bikes, taking turns trying to ride over the backs of my ankles, with me running away in tears having to hide in peoples lawns so they couldn’t see where I actually lived. This happened multiple times and the school said since it happened outside of school they weren’t responsible. It took my parents going to each of their parents house and talking to them for it to stop from the one kid.
The other kid, who was like the alpha, tried to beat me up on the playground and I pulled a Ralphie/Waterboy and after he punched me in the stomach and laughed I wailed on his face a few times and he backed off. It turns out that kid in 5th grade used to hit his own mom and she didn’t know what to do with him (no father in the picture). I found that out from my parents a few years later.
What happened to those two kids? One fled the scene of an accident he caused at about 22, was caught giving drugs to an underage girl, had multiple charges for setting fires to some construction, drug charges, went to prison for years after trying to flee to Canada, then died of an overdose in his early 30s. The other one who used to beat up his own mom, who was the more alpha one, did things like stealing bikes, stealing peoples mail, but died of an overdose when we were still in highschool.
I wouldn’t wish their fates on either of their families but they were on a course to destruction since we were all in kindergarten. They were cruel at that young of an age.
Regardless of the circumstances some kids are truly awful and you need to protect your child from them because the system won’t.

They didn't speak to the bullies parents or seek legal remedies. They continued to let their son go to school knowing he would be bullied rather than take him out of school. Then they proudly go on national media for sympathy. THEY are the two people who are most responsible for why this boy died.

If the school is so grossly negligent, you have to step in and protect your child. Two years is such a long time. A fifth of his whole life. That is like a 50 year old being abused for ten years. I wish someone had created a safe place for this baby.

That's not the same as them not reporting it, which was done on the phone, as the father said, (and maybe in person based on that second statement) so there is no "proof", and sounds like total BS.

And my son doesn't have glasses or any "imperfections." For 7 years I homeschooled him, until this year. The total lack of effort teachers make to detect who is actually doing the bullying is absolutely pathetic. Why not just put up cameras and recorders all over the place, and make bullies know there is no way to get away with it? I'm so sad for you, sweet little boy.

It has nothing to do with risking your kid’s health, but about teaching the child how to stand up for themselves and having the courage to do so, specially if the issue is with kids within his own age group. I had plenty of fights in school growing up and kids learned that I was not one to mess with sooner than later. Btw, I was never a tough guy nor a trouble maker. I just did not like to be picked on a/o be disrespected by idiots I did not know.
