This is one my favorite movies of all time, and once again cemented Sam Rockwell as my favorite actor. There was a little grass roots campaign to get Rockwell nominated for an Oscar for this movie, because he went completely ignored even though he basically carried an entire movie himself.
Right? I think it takes a truly bright mind to derive so much enjoyment out of other people's genuine efforts, even if most of said efforts are questionable at best as far as the mainstream is concerned. TL;DR - It's easy to be a hater.
Excellent video. Moon is a great, hidden gem of a movie and Sam Rockwell is just a criminally underrated actor. Thanks for such a thorough exploration.
This is such an underrated classic. It's one of my all time favourite films and Rockwell is incredible in the role. It's such a shame that this just didn't seem to get the recognition it so greatly deserves.
Absolutely loved this movie, Rockwell should've had way more recognition for his performance.

saw that you made a video about this movie. went to see the movie. got my mind blown. came back to watch the video. now I like the movie even more! just, thank you!!
One of the most heart wrenching films I have ever seen. When I saw you were going to do it in my subs feed I had to hesitate as to whether I was going to watch the video or not. This film really, really got to me. A near perfect film and Rockwell should have gotten major praise for this.
I loved the Sam cameo in Jones's later film, "Mute", showing him testifying at a Congressional hearing on TV. Great Easter egg. This movie doesn't get nearly as much love as it deserves.
I wouldn't go so far as to call it one of the best movies ever, but man Moon was fucking awesome. A Sci-Fi flick thoroughly deserving of its reputation.
I watched this one day, on demand, totally by chance when I was bored and it blew me away. it became an instant favourite and it was the first movie I had ever seen Sam Rockwell in, and he kicked so much ass! Also, fun fact: I had no idea it was Kevin Spacey as the computer!
discovered your channel via the blair witch exploring vid which i thought was excellent but this is definitely a new favourite. absolutely adore this movie and haven't seen it for too long, thanks for the timely reminder to watch again.
Just finished watching this movie just now after watching this review. An excellent movie. One of those movies that come around ever so often and is a much watch.
I still remember coming across that iconic poster for the first time and thinking, “I love Rockwell! Why haven’t I heard of this?” I watched it, riveted... sat in silence for several minutes, then watched it again immediately. One of my favorite movies of all time.
Love this movie...sadly I didn't hear of it until last year (someone else on RUclips had mentioned a little about it)...but now that I've seen it i try to encourage others to check it out as well...thank you for covering this!
Great movie, great video! Thanks for making this "Exploring..." episode, Moon is one of my favorite scifi movies and Sam Rockwell is a talent of his own.
I'm remember watching this on TV and i was just blown away by it. Its fantastically made and it wasnt til a few years ago that I found out Bowie was his dad
This is one of my favorite underrated films, I'm so happy you reviewed it! I'm not sure if you still take requests, but Clue the Movie is another instant classic you should make a video on.
_Moon_ was an amazing indie sci-fi movie, I *_love_* the moments that feature outside the base, and you see nothing but Moon landscape and star-field. I also love the use of Smiley Faces for Gerty, so cute. And the interactions between the two Sams was so seamless and spot-on, it was like as if there actually were two Sams. This movie definitely felt like something from the 70s/80s. I can't wait for the "quasi-sequel" _Mute_, which is said to be Jones' long-planned love letter to _Blade_ _Runner_.
Dude...I love your videos. This is one of my top movies of all time and now I love it even more with the info you provided. Keep it up. It's very much appreciated.
Thanks to your little warning at the beginning, I decided to give this movie a go. It was amazing. So thanks. You got one of the best channels I've seen on youtube. Keep up the good work! Next on my list of movies to watch, is snowpiercer. Another recommendation from you.
Moon...I never regretted watching this movie. Are there really people who dislike this film? I suppose so. Glad to see it has fans. Hopefully he checks out CQ(if he hasn't already).
saw this movie a while back , and I remember being blown away by it ... left me with a dread that's hard to explain ... also made me a sam Rockwell fan for life ...
Mad respect for the production crew for their amazing balancing act between practical effects, CGI, and well-directed acting. I'm especially surprised by how the distant sections of the clone chamber was made. I used to think it was CG.
The info that you provide is really exciting , thank you. Please continue the stuff that you are doing because as for me it's very difficult to find and order all the additional information about the film and it's cast. And also I often forget to pay attention for the great number of films.
i remember searching for good sci fi movies on a really boring day when i discovered this movie years ago and its fantastic. Sam Rockwell's performance is amazing. I also enjoyed Source Code alot. Have you seen it Cecil?
I actually had to go on a hunt for this blu-ray back before I started really shopping on Amazon, I also bought it when I wanted to add a bunch of films Sam Rockwell was in into my library. It is one of the best space films I have every watched. It also was my opening film to Duncan Jones and lead me to Source Code which was another good film.
I saw the trailer when it first came out and it's always been a "Will I or won't I" kind of movie. I think It'll definitely be watching it now. Great review as always.
Good Bad Flicks can go multiple ways, could be covering good and bad flicks, or good flicks that are bad, or bad flicks that are good, makes sense still.
I just saw this film and was incredibly impressed with Rockwell's performance. People talk about Hanks carrying Cast Away on his own but this was just as impressive if not more. For a little while I wasn't exactly certain if Sam was loosing his mind and suffering delusions of himself. This was a great story and outstanding bit of acting.
I agree ! I found it a little slow at first, and confusing. Then the story came together and I was intrigued by what was really going on. The escape to earth was crazy, but seemed like the kind of thing that the character would try to pull off. I found myself getting to care about the character and whether or not that the computer would help him or betray him. Especially since the computer had hidden knowledge (like HAL). The special effects shots were excellent ! Well done !
I saw this movie shortly after it was released. Being a fan of science fiction, I agree with you completely. One of the best movies I've ever seen. The sci-fi element is spot on and Sam Rockwell's performance is outstanding.
I couldn't agree more with this video. I've been telling people about this movie for years. When Oblivion came out, people asked me my thoughts on it, and I would immediately refer Moon.
This is truly a great film. I was amazed and awe stuck the first time I watched it. The only problem is it is a tough film to watch. I don't know if it is the slow pace or that it is emotionally taxing but Moon is one of those films after watching I figured I would never watch it again. I highly recommend it to family and friends with the caveat that you must really pay attention to catch the details and you will be astonished but probably not want to watch it twice.
It's really unfortunate that relatively few people have seen this. I worry that it's going to become another "Dark City," a minor masterpiece that slips through the cracks and only lives on as a cult film instead of finding its rightful place among the classics. Moon really does deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the films that inspired it.
Well just as with 2001 people didn't really realize the potential of the movie and how far it spoke at the time, I can't say that Moon will reach as far in depth, but I think people will soon realize how much the film actually speaks about the future with in itself.
" I worry that it's going to become another "Dark City," a minor masterpiece that slips through the cracks and only lives on as a cult film instead of finding its rightful place among the classics. " I would think that sometimes obtaining cult status would be more desirable than main stream success...it depends on the material, I suppose...but cult fans generally speaking have a deeper love and appreciation for what the vast majority don't appreciate... And as a filmmaker, I would likely be more attracted to creating for that audience than the masses...
One of the best films ever made? That's very high praise. I watched this upon its release and remember enjoying it. I think I'll have to revisit it going on your review.
I've watched the movie long time ago, by coincidence and I felt in love with it. To the point that I had my girlfriend watch it, even though she didn't think she was going to like it, and she was literally speechless while watching the movie.
I love this movie. One of the best sci-fi films ever made, and probably Rockwell's best films. I usually bring this movie up when talking about films with others, especially if they mention Oblivion, the Tom Cruise film which is similar to this.
I saw this in theaters and really liked it a lot. unfortunately I was probably one of three people in the theater at the time. also check out the "mildew of the planet xoneder" when you get a chance. the preview has a tag line that says the 80s are back. but I will warn you it is so gory that some people I know I couldn't even finish it. I think it was hilarious.
I LOVE this movie! Many friends I have tried to convince to watch it as well. Only a few agreed and thankfully loved it as well. It was such an amazing experience. Rockwell's performance did indeed save the film, but everything else just pieces together so well. You did a great job with this review =)
Rockwell deserved an Oscar for this. Performances like this get overlooked all the time
Holy crap, they only had a $5 million budget to work with?
That's amazing.
This is one my favorite movies of all time, and once again cemented Sam Rockwell as my favorite actor. There was a little grass roots campaign to get Rockwell nominated for an Oscar for this movie, because he went completely ignored even though he basically carried an entire movie himself.
Absolutely one of the best films ever. Rockwell was amazing
absolutly overrated piece of shit, with a totaly not logical story
idontgive mercesthethird Dude, just stop.
I just watched this because you said it is one of the greatest movies ever made.
I second that, it was amazing.
Couldn't agree more.
I swear this movie had me tear up, just because of how good it was
I dont think any other reviewer on youtube talks as lovingly and passionately about movies as you do. Love all of your vids and please never stop
Thank you! That really made my night :)
Right? I think it takes a truly bright mind to derive so much enjoyment out of other people's genuine efforts, even if most of said efforts are questionable at best as far as the mainstream is concerned.
TL;DR - It's easy to be a hater.
I remember my dad dragging me to see this. I'm really glad he did. This might still be my favorite movie of all time.
Excellent video. Moon is a great, hidden gem of a movie and Sam Rockwell is just a criminally underrated actor. Thanks for such a thorough exploration.
Thanks!
This is such an underrated classic. It's one of my all time favourite films and Rockwell is incredible in the role. It's such a shame that this just didn't seem to get the recognition it so greatly deserves.
Yeah great movie. Love movies like moon, cube and pitch black. Just wished that there where more!!
I loved Rockwell before, but this.... easily one of the greatest movies ever put to film.
Just got around to watching this, and it's undoubtedly one of my favorite sci-fi movies. Sam Rockwell's performance was absolutely stellar
High, high praise for this flick. Couldn't agree more with your commentary.
Absolutely loved this movie, Rockwell should've had way more recognition for his performance.
saw that you made a video about this movie.
went to see the movie.
got my mind blown.
came back to watch the video. now I like the movie even more!
just, thank you!!
You're welcome! So glad to see this movie get more love! It deserves the praise.
Dude. YOU deserve praise. Your videos are entertaining and nostalgic. Thanks for taking the time to make them.
+Joe Shopper Thank you! :)
Sam Rockwell is an excellent actor. And his work in "Moon" is certainly one of the best of his career. "Moon" is one of my favorite films as well.
One of my fave movies!! Thank you for doing an "Exploring" on it! ;)
One of the most heart wrenching films I have ever seen. When I saw you were going to do it in my subs feed I had to hesitate as to whether I was going to watch the video or not. This film really, really got to me. A near perfect film and Rockwell should have gotten major praise for this.

Fantastic underrated movie.
hugely underrated movie.brilliant, thought provoking.beautifully shot and great performance by Rockwell.
Oh I also think Rockwell should have got an Oscar for this.
Your movie explorations are always on point. This was excellent.
one of the best scifi flix ever
Just can agree "one of the greatest movie ever made".
Soundtrack, Actor, Story all together just perfect and its never boring.
I wouldn't go so far as to call it one of the best movies ever, but man Moon was fucking awesome. A Sci-Fi flick thoroughly deserving of its reputation.

The soundtrack of this movie is so good.
Clint Mansell is an underrated genius :)
I saw it because of Rockwell, I love to see support actors in great leading roles. This movie is a classic, gets better with the years.
Really enjoyed Moon, loved the simplicity of it, one of those movies that really makes you think afterwards, leaves you with a funny feeling lol
Love this movie...sadly I didn't hear of it until last year (someone else on RUclips had mentioned a little about it)...but now that I've seen it i try to encourage others to check it out as well...thank you for covering this!
these reviews are always so great with all the behind the scenes info.
Thanks Bill! Speaking of, I have some movies I want to chat with you you about ^^
Great movie, great video! Thanks for making this "Exploring..." episode, Moon is one of my favorite scifi movies and Sam Rockwell is a talent of his own.
I have cried watching a film perhaps 3 times in my life. This was one of those times.
The score for this tremendous film only serves to accentuate the emotional tones. Amazing and underrated experience that beats so many sci fi films.
Truly incredible film, maybe even more so for having just ONE actor (or two with the A.I.)

This film is top shelf, as is your review. Thank you for all the great information.
Thank you!
Absolutely, a very thoughtful and mesmerizing movie!
Mad respect for the production crew for their amazing balancing act between practical effects, CGI, and well-directed acting.

Just watched the movie and man was I impressed. Also another great review Cecil.
:)
This move was absolutely awesome! This is usually my 1st suggestion for scifi recommendations. I stumbled upon it and holy shit, it's great!
Thank you. This is one of my favorite movies of all time.
i remember searching for good sci fi movies on a really boring day when i discovered this movie years ago and its fantastic. Sam Rockwell's performance is amazing. I also enjoyed Source Code alot. Have you seen it Cecil?
Source Code is equally as good!
when someone asks what movie I would suggest that they probably never heard of I say moon with Sam Rockwell
I enjoy the information around the movies you cover, it's why I subscribed. This was a good film, nice to know the background
After waiting 3 years I’ve finally watched it and now I’m finally able to watch this!
Thx for bringing this awesome movie closer to the crowd
I actually had to go on a hunt for this blu-ray back before I started really shopping on Amazon, I also bought it when I wanted to add a bunch of films Sam Rockwell was in into my library. So glad you dug this movie. One of my all time best.
I saw the trailer when it first came out and it's always been a "Will I or won't I" kind of movie. I think It'll definitely be watching it now. Great review as always.
It's good to see your channel is growing, you do fantastic work Cecil, keep it up.
Thank you! :)
Awesome movie! One of my all time favorites. Ps. Your channel is the freakin best!
Thank you!
Moon is a good movie. I'm glad you're covering it, but... change the series title
The series is called exploring the name you think of is just the name of the channel
Good Bad Flicks can go multiple ways, could be covering good and bad flicks, or good flicks that are bad, or bad flicks that are good, makes sense still.
Great review of an absolutely fantastic movie with a highly underrated actor. I love every second of this sci-fi flick
Wonderful bits of info and trivia on an amazing film.
Well done, Sir.
Totally agree with the assessment. Thanks for posting.
thanks. haven't heard of this film before. I'll check it out ASAP. Great stuff, as usual.
I agree ! I found it a little slow at first, and confusing. Then the story came together and I was intrigued by what was really going on. I watched this movie a while back and never thought it be that old
thank you for bringing this film to my attention
I loved this movie, and learning how little they made it for is crazy impressive
agreed I loved this movie. i watched it twice in a row to soak it up
Same here
I definitely agree with the final evaluation. I feel like film classes decades from now will be using it as exemplary of this era's storytelling.
I saw this movie shortly after it was released. Being a fan of science fiction, I agree with you completely. One of the best movies I've ever seen. The sci-fi element is spot on and Sam Rockwell's performance is outstanding.
I LOVE this film. I was lucky enough to see it on the big screen.
Definitely one of the best sci-fi films. Great upload
This was one of the best sci fi films of the last couple of decades. The perfect balance between practical effects and cgi
I couldn't agree more with this video. I've been telling people about this movie for years. When Oblivion came out, people asked me my thoughts on it, and I would immediately refer Moon.
Quite a talented lad, I really enjoyed his work on Moon!
I loved this film. Up in my top 10.
Wish they made more of these type of movies now. I love movies like Silent Running, Outland etc. This was a good film.
David Bowie's son. Moon. Space. And no Major Tom reference or joke? Sacrilege!
If I never hear that song again, I'll have that to be happy about.
I *loved* Moon, picked it up at a Redbox sight unseen and so glad I did.
Moon was amazing. Even better if you'd never heard anything about it before watching.
I own Moon, and I thoroughly enjoy rewatching it periodically. Sam Rockwell is great!!!
I just love your Exploring videos.
I forgot I'd already seen this movie! Then I started watching this video and I was like, OH THIS MOVIE!

I like the poster, very reminiscent of 70s sci-fi movie posters
I've watched the movie long time ago, by coincidence and I felt in love with it. To the point that I had my girlfriend watch it, even though she didn't think she was going to like it, and she was literally speechless while watching the movie.

This movie is amazing, The soundtrack is a masterpiece and as soon i watched the movie, i download the OST.
THIS IS SUCH A GOOD MOVIE!
