  • An old school Kenworth log truck is recovered from the ditch after it ran off the shoulder in a curve. The trailer's weight tipped the truck against the side of the hill and the truck was stuck good. Highway 270 West of Hot Springs, Arkansas was blocked for 35 to 40 minutes due to the recovery.

I was thinking the opposite. They almost lost the trailer and imo he should have had a winch line over the logs pulling ahead.

What most have not noticed is the recovery truck had his cable hooked to a jumper chain that was connected to the frame that the fifth wheel is welded to the truck. The lower winch on the rear of the recovery truck was used so as to have a downward pull on the truck to prevent both truck and trailer from rolling. Nice recovery this is how us pro' s do it and why we can charge what we do. Had the trailer rolled over recovery company would have ate the cost for causing more damage. Cheers

I can't believe they got that out without losing the trailer or the load. I thought for sure as soon as they started winching on the cab that the trailer was going to flip or at least the load was going to break free. I also thought they'd need a 2nd wrecker pulling from the side on the trailer to get that out safely. It made a little more sense once I saw the type of trailer but still thought the load would have let go.

The type of stabilization you're seeing here is applied after the fact via software. If the camera jerks down, the frames are moved up. This cuts off some of the top of the image, but keeps the image steady.
Most common with cameras that either have very poor stabilization or none at all.

Might have helped to put boards under the right front and the double boogie behind it. As such you had the single drivers, drive wheel free. It's was shocking that the logs pretty much stayed in the racks. The center of gravity was defied here.

Pretty small loads in the USA(max 40 tons)...Canada and Australia load 80 tons+
