Is this the new meaning of being a LEGEND? For real? Your voice tone and range DOES NOT make anyone a legend. Wow... Why can't T.V. producers bring back good innocent funny series again? The reality is people need to laugh and watch their own show in their life, not someone else's! It's how and or what someone does in their lifetime that makes them a Legend.

I saw him singing on the street in Bakewell in February 2020 and I was rooted to the spot. He was amazing and I didn’t want to stop listening. I’m so glad he’s gone on this show. He deserves it all!
He came to Derby last night. A very lovely person to speak to . Even got a signed copy of his latest CD

Why has no one cast him in the phantom of the opera, or some professional Opera, His voice will hypnosis you. He is just that good to me. His voice is mesmerizing... I am praying someone gives him a chance. I would find a way to see him in concert!!
The humility and class of this gentlemen is unsurpassed. His calm, down to earth appreciation and his subtle but powerful appreciation....WOW! Thanking each judge by name. Incredible. I hope his stage presence continues to develop while he stays humble and down to earth. Would love to see him win it all and be a next generation Susan Boyle or Jonathan Antoine.

When you listen to the woman who sang from the greatest showman who pretended she had never had a chance on the big stage despite constantly being on stage at huge events its a breath off fresh air to see someone genuinely 'off the street'.... Kudos Maxwell....
She looked very shy and introverted. So I don’t think she was faking anything. They both are fabulous

Thank you...that has bothered me since watching her audition weeks ago. This gentle man, and profound talent, is what I thought this show was about. Giving those who had had no access to industry connections a break.
@@GoldenLight22 Search her name in RUclips, you'll find many performances of her on big stages with that specific song, often acknowledging she's the voice behind it.
It's just another "reality tv" shtick, paying her to come to BGT (why?) and enhancing her story.

You can tell it meant a lot to him to see and hear how many people loved his singing. It was definitely a golden performance, I only wish the golden buzzer had been pushed!!! What a surprisingly strong and colourful voice. He told a story through that audition!
He sang at Hillsborough yesterday and The Star newspaper reported that he has a single “Believe” coming out next week. I hope it is true.

Maxwell Thorpe's rendition of Luciano Pavarotti's 'Caruso' deserved a golden buzzer. He is a bright shining light in the singing world. Any time as good as Pavarotti was.

Frank Da Horta, This is not Luciano Pavarotti's Caruso. This is singer/songwriter Lucio Dalla's 'Caruso." Lucio Dalla wrote 'Caruso' in 1986 as a tribute and dedication to the love story between the operatic tenor, Errico Caruso ( 1873 -1821), and the woman Caruso loved.
He doesn’t push his exquisite voice the way Pavarotti did. There’s something very refreshing about being humble!
It's not only the extraordinary voice, but the interpretation, the emotion he showed.

I’ve never been a lover of opera however this man’s voice completely changed my opinion as I could listen to him sing forever… The voice of an angel that is totally transcendent, he literally move’s hearts & souls! I couldn’t hold back the tears & it was a true moment of clarity when you can feel every hair on your body stand up, his a winner in my eyes!

Every hair on my body stood on end . His vibrato is perfection, his tone is brandy, and his delivery is heart wrenching. Masterful!!! I would fly to UK to see him in ANY production! I Want More, More, More!!!
I've seen him singing in the streets many times around South Yorkshire and play a few local 'gigs and it's a travesty that he hasn't had a break until now. His voice is up there woth Pavarotti, Bocelli, Domingo etc etc. I'm so glad people can see him now and he has an amazing career! 1.8m views in 48 hours! shows how broad his appeal is too!
My hair stood up also and I don't have any..absolutely beautiful voice. I was already emotional at the first sound of his voice

I don’t know what it is about opera! I never would’ve thought I was a fan until I watch these people come on these shows & sing their hearts out. Every time I hear someone sing opera on these shows, I get the chills, & my eyes start melting! Amazing!!

This is exactly why I keep watching shows like this, every now and then I am amazed by someone's talent, someone who hardly knows theselves how incredibly talented they are. Maxwell is fantastic and his voice is phenomenal !

Everyone has to start somewhere! And busking is honest work, so I really DIDNT like her comment!!! Not at all! Way too elitist, for me!
But 10 years? Seems someone would have auditioned him in that length of time! Wonder what the back story is on that! I mention it only because the world might have missed out on years worth of a really great voice singing!!!
And I wish the audience would wait to the end of a performance to show their appreciation. They ruined whole sections of the marvelous singing! What a shame!!!
I got chills when I heard his voice. I closed my eyes and thought one of the Three Tenors was singing. Maxwell is that good. I hope he performs at the biggest venues in England. Truly amazing.
Even better, he's not yet another tenor, he's a baritone. It always seems like there are a bazillion great tenors, but so few exceptional baritones. Unfortunately, I probably will never get a chance to see him live, but who knows? He could make it to Dallas.

He’s better than the tenors… I grew up listening to them with my dad… I don’t remember feeling as moved by their voices as I was with Maxwell’s in this short example of a song… he is amazing.
Obviously, the world needs this kind of music. Their reaction was outstanding for someone who's voice stands out.

Wow. Just wow. Out walks this somewhat pudgy, yet oh-so-adorable guy, who as it turns out is so soft-spoken, and you may think. "Oh, boy." Then the music starts and he opens his mouth, and....this.....VOICE comes out and jaws drop all over the world. This, my friends, is a phenomenon.
First opera singer I've seen on any talent show who can hold the mic so far away and still remain clear and powerful! A true treat and I hope he does go far 👏
That's because true opera singers don't appear on talent shows. As an example, I have seen/heard an 8 stone lady fill the entire Cadogan Hall unamplified and without apparent effort, that comes from years of serious training and relentless practice not busking and singing in your bedroom. I am not belittling this chap, he is a very good natural talent, just not an opera singer.
@@rmcinuk I'm well aware of the training opera singers go through. He has a natural talent for it and saying he's not an opera singer because you think maybe he has no training does belittle him. Also those halls and opera houses are designed acoustically to amplify sound

this was truly one of the most pleasing auditions I've ever seen on any talent/singing show. his voice was impeccable and he's such a low-key guy, which just adds to the appeal. His Dad looked so anxious, proud and supportive all at the same time, beaming with love for his son. Bravo. .

As soon as Maxwell began singing, my higher self loved it, sending electricity up my legs and on up, and I began to cry. He's a wonderful singer!
Talks so soft and even shyly. Then Mr. Thorpe opened his mouth and captured the people with his voice. Simon was shocked as he should have been as I. Two words here ~ "Out-Friggen-Standing!"

How someone didn't discover him while on the streets is completely baffling to me. What an amazingly beautiful voice. Not that was GOOD QUALITY music. And to see all the younger people in the audience not only recognize it but also appreciate it speaks volumes.

That was utterly BRILLIANT!! Maxwell’s nerves at the beginning of his audition completely left his body as something else took over. He is absolutely rock solid in his delivery and I see him going all the way. Congratulations Maxwell, and the look of adoration on your Dad’s face made it even more emotional for me !! I love this comment bc what u said about something else taking over is EXACTLY what happens. I have always had severe social anxiety..to the point where I don't even talk on the phone sometimes..but when I used to perform I had no problem getting up on a stage in front of hundreds of ppl. It's as if u step outside yourself or become someone else for that moment but yet I could never apply that to "normal" social situations that make me so uncomfortable n give me so much anxiety. He's amazing!! This was outstanding!!
