Time to watch every single Atrioc upload on RUclips but never EVER go to twitch and watch an actual stream.
Edit: I started watching Streams and they're actually great. Highly recommend, even if it does mean I gotta stay up till one o'clock to watch since I'm east coast.
as someone who almost never watches stream i will admit sometimes i forget im not watching a youtube video because its honestly always just as entertaining.
Big A gotta stream earlier for us east coast dwellers 🙄

drop out before its too late :-)
Luckily inflation will make it easier to pay those low fixed rate loans back as long as they aren’t some bullshit adjustable rate private student loans. Still in a bad way if everything goes belly up but that is what grad school is for…rare opportunity to time your entry into the job market.

You will probably have to do those things even though civilization will not collapse.

Thanks to Atrioc for allowing me to feel financially smarter than I realistically am.
I’m not an economics expert or anything, but wouldn’t it make sense for companies to spend their cash instead of burning it? Seems like a major waste of money
No because the cash is already burning inside their reserves, f they spent cash they wouldn’t have any money and would go bankrupt
no, because burning cash slows inflation down
There is a term in financial markets named 'flex ratio', it basically means the more cash you're burning the cooler you are. Banks and investors love seeing this as it is a show of dominance and it's quirky.
@@senne5699 should I do it as an individual? How would I prove to banks that I did it?

Hey Atrioc, I've seen several comments on this video discussing socialism and communism as a solution to these cyclical recessions. Would you be able to do a Marketing Monday on several types of economies? I think a lot of viewers would enjoy it
YES
commies in chat would be really unbearable.
Yeah i think we need to start collectivisation to fix the economy
Cus that definitely, must certainly worked irl
Those comments are idiotic, extreme cyclical recessions happen due to poor leadership and action on the behalf of central banks. communism is handing power over every productive member in society to a central bank (which has poor leadership as previously mentioned), and expecting nothing to go wrong. Socialism is dividing productive members into a self-regulating economy (smart) then arbitrarily banning free trade between them to avoid any individual gathering too much capital (contradictory reasoning).
The only thing I love more then watching another banger from Big A himself is the knowledge that the second the stream ends our guy is enjoying a nice *HUGE* cup of coffee after a hard days work. The only person truly worthy of being _the_ Coffee Cow.
In a nutshell what he is saying that for a really long time we have been measuring a companies success by the wrong standards and the bubble breaking might lead to a more formal assessment of said companies. Which also means, those companies that have dipped a lot have the potential to never come back up to where they were. Even if they come back up a bit, you might tie up your money for very little gains - this is a risky market right now...
It is necessary and will benefit the average citizen in the longterm.
IF.
we learn from our mistakes.
sorry brandon but the real snwer is that people spent everything they had on morbius tickets
I’ve had covid for that last week and I’ve discovered your channel because of it, and binging your videos has been a great distraction. Just wanted to say thanks for making some cool content to keep my mind of being sick.
The 3 things I got from this is buy the dip, recessions are good and invade Canada
Round 3 baby, time for that 3rd once in a lifetime economic recession.
4:46 - 5:07 To clarify (someone correct me if I'm wrong); *individual* stocks crash all the time. Terms like "the market always bounces back" or "the stock market always goes up" refers to the fact that, in the long term, the *overall market* has more or less always risen. So you can "buy the dip" for something like an index fund and reasonably expect that in 10+ years, the overall value of that index fund will have increased (unless you're Japan in the 90s I guess). As opposed to buying specific stocks for individual companies like Coca-Cola or Tesla or Pelaton, which could feasibly lose most or all of their value and not recover (for example KODK has lost about 75% of its value since 2013 for example and probably won't be recovering anytime soon).
I really appreciate these videos, they're great, easily consumed and very informative
the boom and bust cycle is normally long enough that major recessions don't hit more than once a generation, which masks how terrible they are. but recently...
I mean tbh they're generally every 20 years roughly, literally since capitalism started, ngl idk enough to say major busts but still
Recessions and expansions are usually kept minor and happen every couple of years, caused by fiscal and monetary policy which the federal government tactfully employs to counter the effects of either an expansion which causes demand-pull inflation or a recession which causes low productivity and access to essential supplies. Since the federal government decided to artificially orchestrate the largest ever expansion to date by printing money until the ink ran dry, it stands to reason that they must now induce a recession before inflation takes off and makes everything ever anywhere unaffordable to everyone. The only issue is that due to the scale of surplus value, this will likely be one of the largest recessions of all time.

A common misconception is that a raise in interest rates is bad. I am more versed in Australia's economy, (Studying economics and commerce) but an increase in interest rates will increase foreign investment, which should raise the value of the currency. It is not all good, as it makes it harder for citizens to borrow money, but that is balanced out by making it easier to live off of your savings. Basically, the issue in America isn't purely a rise in interest rates, it is a build up of bad decisions that may be tipped over the edge by a change in interest rates.
Turkey has been having godawful inflation and been raising interest rates a lot (14% at the moment), and its citizens are bleeding as crazy financially, considering their still massive inflation of 70%. Turkey's government somewhat wants inflation but that's another story altogether.
Every other country which doesn't get ahead of this thing quick enough I think will become like Turkey. Soaring inflation *and* high interest rates.
Alas this is my interpretation of it, I haven't majored in anything economic-related.
Yeah same in UK mate. America uses Fiscal policy a lot more than other western countries. They're not really viewed in as much a negative light here - sometimes even viewed positively (since the £ is already such a strong currency & the UK is heavily product-import based), they're more-so seen as just a tool for monetary policy the BoE has.
@@KC-kw7ii Most countries want some inflation (for developed countries it is typically around 2%, for countries with lots of growth it can be higher). Countries that export a lot generally want weaker currencies as well since it makes exporting cheaper relatively - useful for Turkey because of its geographic position for trade.
The reason countries raise interest rates to control inflation is that they reduce demand in the economy since there's a greater incentive to save rather than invest or spend - which means that there is less demand for cash itself. But normally Monetary policy like this is used as a softer tool & is less effective if things get really bad. It's also worth noting that there are multiple factors at the root of greater inflation.
Something like 75% of Americans don't have any savings at all. So deflationary foreign investment doesn't benefit them at all.
Love it! Very comforting!

I’m just starting to understand a little bit of stocks, and I’m glad I can procrastinate and put off understanding it till everything drops
Small pro tip: one of the safest strategies is to look at a very long horizon, like 15-20 years, and investing a fixed amount of money every month/year. All the fancy tricks that stock brokers do is just fancy gambling. On average, a regular fixed investment beats out all of them.
And when it comes to what to invest in: index funds are usually a pretty safe bet. These are managed bundles of companies, so you're never just investing in a single one. As companies become important players, they are added to the fund, and companies that are becoming less relevant are removed. This way you're investing in an entire industry or even the entire economy, instead of trying to pick winners and losers. As long as there is growth within that industry, you're making progress.
This is absolutely the most boring way to invest. But boring is good. So when you do your research, definitely look those things up.
@@Niosus the s&p 500 is down 22% since january :)
@@whosthefactory it hasn't been 15-20 years since January ;) the long horizon is key.
@@Niosus If you had invested for the long term with good diversification right before the great depression and still had that money in the market today, you would have made a bunch of money.
@@Dragonofshame the same is true if you had done that in 2003, exactly 20 years ago. The S&P 500 was at around 1000 then, it's at 4000 now. That's a little over 7% a year in returns for doing absolutely nothing. Like I said, it's boring, but my philosophy with money is that boring is good.

We should start numbering Great Depressions the same way we number World Wars.
The problem with UST is they can burn 1 terra/ust for the other at the rate of always $1. so they coordinated an attack against ust, unpegged it, then constantly burned ust for luna. diluting the amount of luna from 300m to 7tril. always receiving 1$ of luna for every ust burnt. even if that ust was bought at .30 cents. someone made a bunch of money shorting that.
this mans been talking about bubbles since before 2017
So not only am I going to be graduating college right after another recession, but I might also be doubly fucked since companies won’t hire me if they can’t even afford a new employee. Great.
i think recession is like forest fires - one might think it's good to stop all small forest fires but if there isnt any natural small fires then when a big one strikes at an unexpected time, there's too much forest burning down
so once in awhile it's natural for small fires to break out, but we control it, and it clears any excess growth that's actually of no value / ends up making the value of the fire stronger as the fire now eats up more vegetation per square mile when a controlled fire would be just a small fire with little foliage spent per square mile
"Highest inflation rate ever".. do u just choose to forget 20% inflation in 1917? I know it was a rough period Big Ole A.
When calculated according to a fixed-basket measurement, inflation runs approximately 2% higher than official inflation statistics.. Not to mention, it’s expected to increase. Not saying it will be “the highest ever” but won’t it be comparable to the crash in the 80s?
@@forestfire2670 Comparable as in a stock market crash preceded by inflation? We can analyse the 1980s inflation ex post. Market economists 'price in' inflationary expectations ex ante, and are aware that the government 'underreports' inflation. Particularly important at the moment is the exclusion of petrol in official statistics. Depends on how you calculate inflation. but was just making a joke about how big A is an old cunt.
Time to start investing in rare fish...
