Many argue that Kaede treats Ren-chon like a true baby sister, but the truly under-appreiciated character is Kazunee. Even though she is depicted to be lazy AF sleeping all the time and what not, she's actually pretty busy being an adult/farmer's daughter/teacher/ and basically a housewife that's why she sleeps all the time. She plays hard and party hard. Kaede has an out she's like a cool Aunt that can leave anytime and doesn't see Ren-chon at her worst (I don't think she does though, but I'm trying to be realistic here). I think about my nieces and nephew that I get to hang out with them for the good times, but once they throw tantrums or they're not having a good day. I can always bail out. Kaede has that option. Although she's gonna be there for Renchon too though. Kaede can be there for her when it's convenient. Whereas Kazu-nee will always be there for her. day in and day out... everyday. because Kazu-nee has no choice because she's the big sister almost like a parent (speaking of parents where are Renchon, Hikanee, and Kazunee's parents? and what about the grandma I keep hearing about? we need to see this lore develop.) . Also Kazu-nee got like 5 other kids to look after when they're at school. I still love these Kaede and Renchon episodes though and it's always the highlight of the season.
