Alluvial Gold Prospecting - How to Get the Most Gold from a Dry Creek Bed.
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 17 окт 2024
- In this video I show you how to work a DRY Creek bed in order to get most of the Gold, and hopefully the best Gold, in it. I explain what to look for and how to identify where the richest and most concentrated "pockets" are most likely to be.
This method is fairly meticulous, but in most cases, ensures you get the "BEST GOLD" if it is there. Enjoy. Aussie

By far one of the most informative videos I've watched for Australian alluvial gold. Nice work, mate.
What I like about you is that you're much like a hunter in that you seek the best way to find your prey, which in this case is the allusive gold that you don't show, telling me that you really enjoy the hunt. Started prospecting a couple weeks ago in Colorado just looking for spots along and above the creeks and rivers to crevice. Thanks for the education man!
You nailed it right there mate... Prospecting for new deposits and places is really where it's at. I wish you all the best in Colorado. Regards Aussie.
Without a doubt the best prospecting video I've see for a while.
Good job and thanks.
+Flyfishingoz Thank you for such encouraging feedback mate. Glad I'm getting it right. Looks like I now have a standard to keep lol. Glad you enjoyed it. Regards Aussie.
this video has seriously changed my prospecting, dry ground is awesome, so is mallow. now my sites look more like I'm a paleontolagist lol. your a legend mate.
Awesome feedback mate. Good on ya and good luck. Regards Aussie

Thanks a million buddy👍
You are most welcome. Glad to help out. Regards Aussie
Cheers from Arizona! Doing the same kinda alluvial prospecting here. Learned a lot from your video. Much obliged and God bless Ion Idriess!
That's great news and you are most welcome mate. I wish you success... And yes.... God Bless Jack Idriess ... my mentor. Regards Aussie
Thanks a million Aussie. Very educational and can't wait to start in the Spring and Summer time in Vic.
I wish you good luck out there mate. Regards Aussie
Loved this video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Do you ever run your detector over the area before you put the gravel in the bucket or are you after all the tiny flakes as well?
Mate this is great it's definitely worth a watch
Cheers mate, glad you got something out of it. Regards Aussie

Great informative vid John, and a very useful insight to how a small amount of extra work can more than pay the costs of a prospecting trip. Best of luck on the next trip mate, and hope the gold stays kind to you.. Cheers Wal.
+Wal nLiz yep it's amazing what can be found if you go the extra mile...Cheers
Hi john
I just stumbled onto your video,Boy i'm glad i did. Thanks for reminding me that not taking the time to clean out the bedrock was the most important thing i wasn't doing.I'm off to buy a new paint brush and even a dust pan!!!!Cheers.
+john vat My pleasure mate. I wish you all the best.
Thank you for your video. One of the few useful ones. Have you had any success with dry washing?
New to the channel, and with tips like this I'm stickin around.
I certainly won't knock back priceless knowledge and in the couple of videos I've watched you have some gold tips! 😉
Welcome aboard! Regards Aussie
Just on suggestion of mine: I'd use a metallic brush instead to scrape off the cemented gravel on the bedrock. What do you think?
That could work, but usually the cement is way too compacted and hard for a brush. Regards Aussie
thank you so much that was very detailed.
A pleasure mate. Regards Aussie
Thank you very much
for the video Aussie Bloke,
You are welcome mate.
only just found your channel brilliant videos m8 , I sure wish that I didnt live in the UK brilliant work keep it up
Thanks mate...glad you like em... put a trip to Oz on your bucket list. Regards Aussie
Found an abandoned channel on a known gold carrying Creek yesterday hoping this gives me the mental tools I need to tackle that bastard today thanks for the video and wish me luck lol
Awesome movie mate. Just got myself a gold lease in Kalgoorlie and can't wait to apply your methods. That book by Jack Idriess, do you know where I can get a copy of that by any chance? Cheers
Thanks mate. You can find the book here www.booksandcollectibles.com.au/bnc_search/bnc_search/general_search.php. I will be traveling through Kal around the 2nd week of Sept on my way back to QLD. Would be good to touch base. Regards Aussie.
+Aussie Bloke Prospector. Cheers for that Aussie. I actually found a copy on EBay last week and got stuck into it tonight. It's a really good read so far 👍 ok well I do FIFO shutdown work all around the Pilbara so if I'm not working I'll definitely try to tee something up with you. Cheers for the reply Aussie
+Aussie Bloke Prospector Sorry I didn't get back to you mate, haven't really stopped since I last messaged you. Let me known when your traveling through Kal again mate would be good to catch up! I finished that book and you are right he knows his stuff about prospecting for gold!
Would you ever consider diggint the claystone into a natural sluice and the revisiting the same spot in a year or two?
Great question. Have thought about doing that many times, but am deterred by the thought of other people finding it and benefiting from my hard work. if i had access to private land in a good area that no-one else traversed, then yes I reckon i would give it a crack. Regards Aussie
great video mate, very similar to what we do in victoria with the slates and drywashers. cant tell you how many times ive come along and someones left all the good bits sitting in the cracks :) easy pay
Thanks mate. It does make it easy when someone else does all the hard work and leaves the best gold... I love it
Great video mate! Very informative
+ktmforlife My pleasure, glad you found it informative.
This is a great video for the Arizona and California desert rats who love crevicing as well. I'd be taking a BBQ wire brush grill cleaner to "ripple scrape" the fines and messing with my little 12v minivac. Thanks for the book heads-up, as well. Hope you find oodles of the yellow stuff.
+Goo59ber .Great tip re the vac, but in case you didn't already know and as stupid as it sounds, even using a vac in all Australian states is classified as "mechanical equipment for the purposes of excavation", so therefore is not legal. Believe me I have thought of it. Regards.
Same here, looking forward to many good videos...- subbed and can't wait to see more
+Tom Keir I better get crackin...
Fantastic info really enjoyed watching this vid,,thx mate
Cheers mate. Glad you enjoyed it. Regards Aussie
Thanks for the really interesting and informative video.Great work.
You're welcome mate. Regards Aussie
Looks & sounds good, thanks from Vanuatu
You have taught me so much! Thank you! I'm trying to find the book you mentioned
By Jack I dress I'm sure it's a spell error.
You showed me how to crevice and hunt for what the rest walk past.
Thank you!
Really glad to help out mate. Ion (Jack) L Idriess. Regards Aussie
Cheers AB, mate this is the time i have watched this vid, did you do a follow up and wash or pan the results,
Cheers Chris.
thanks mate that realy helped.
Really Glad it helped. Cheers. Regards Aussie
liked the video. learning heaps.
Glad you liked it. Regards Aussie
Tried to find Idriess' book and found several different ones with the same main title, but different subtitles. Could you give the full name of the correct book you recommend?
Prospecting For Gold by Ion L Idriess
I got it. Thanks for the reference.
Awesome video - subbed and can't wait to see more
+Pirate Pete's Gold & Silver Adventures Cheers, thanks for the support. I am about to embark on a month long trip to NSW...should get some good material for another vid soon. Regards Aussie.
Looking forwards to that as I now live in NSW and don't really know the place that well. Would love to know where good places for camping and prospecting might be for a dad with an adventurous 7 yo... cheers
If I was to use this technique and clean up the layer above bedrock and bucket it all.
What would I do with the gravel, I don't have a Sloose or a water supply big enough to use one
Could I just sit there and pan it all off?
Firstly, only take the very last half inch, if that. Just pan it in a basin and reuse your water. Other wise set up a self reticulatng sluice..( this means you will have to make or buy one ) so you cn maximise your water usage.. see my vid how to do this here ruclips.net/video/ChcScicEg0A/видео.html
good job
Jeff and Slim
+Ask Jeff Williams Thanks again mate, your feedback is much appreciated. Regards Aussie
Ask Jeff Williams Glad you're watching all the good channels! So come on, let's go!

The way good prospecting for alluvial gold should be done its amazing how many people just scratch the surface.
+Michael Franic Yep..it's the only way to do it if you want the best results
Thank's for sharing....I'll be buy that book...
+hubee57 No worries mate.... the Aussie Prospectors bible mate. Regards Aussie
4 min into video and I love all the good info. The book you talk about... You think it would relate to the US? That is were I am from.
Cheers mate... yes the book will relate to the US. It is full of universal principles that apply to all Goldfields. regards Aussie
Woww...nice gold..and i love your song...thnk for ur shere this video..👍
You're welcome mate. Regards Aussie
Awesome mate, great info.
Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers. Regards Aussie
Sir, after working an area such as this as you did, how many wet seasons or years would you leave it prior to working it again?
+johnnynewsouth great question mate. Places like this that might get a good annual rainfall will often replenish in a season. If there has been more than usual rainfall, then definitely worth a look a year later. Regards Aussie
Mate, Thanks for your video.
I have been gold prospecting in WA for years, and I just learnt a shedload in your 12 minute video.
I'm going to try your technique North of Meekatharra, and thanks for the tip on Jacks book.
Beer is on me if you make it over here again.
I'm at Meeka right now, and will be heading up north of Meeka in 2 weeks, would be great to run into you. Regards Aussie.
·
Aussie Bloke Prospector you still up in Meeka? A tad late I know, but didn't see your original message.
Nice video Aussie, I intend to hit the Mogo area at some stage soon down here on the NSW South Coast.....................I'm interested to know how the clean up went? Cheers.
+Steve Jones Cheers Steve...must get down that way....haven't really done much Sth Coast NSW prospecting. You can see the clean up here ruclips.net/video/wFI0T89Ug90/видео.html

+Aussie Bloke Prospector I was just about to request the same.. haha thanks a load!
Great info, gotta wonder what the return was? Regards!
I bought the book.... thank you...
And you won't regret it... I've read mine more times than I can remember... and I continue to get more out of it each time. Regards Aussie
Hey can you tell me what type of dirt to look for when in a creek? And does bedrock need to be present?
the dirt with gold in it... but seriously, every river and creek is different, so there is no one type of dirt to look for
Aussie Bloke Prospector thanks for the reply, maybe I should have worded it better, is there specific indications of dirt to look for. Like for instance when you're digging do you notice certain characteristics of gold bearing dirt. Comming to you because you've been in the game for awhile and you're good at what you do. Again thanks for the reply :)
thank you, I learned a lot
Your welcome mate, regards Aussie
hi ...i've been to oz years ago ..no interest in gold then..when i go back i'll be out there in the boonies with a minelab ...i live in british columbia canada...you are working in dry alluvial ..here it is ever changing wet erosion ...nice vid you have ..surprising how many kitchen or shop tools can be used to find gold ...anyways you might be interested in my vid on you tube ...'nugget alley' as well as some of my other vids...hope you have gold in your pans ...mickey miner
Good stuff mate
G/day very informative video I was only wondering the other day about how nobody has ever mentioned Jacks book on prospecting that the government commissioned him to write for depression years to generate money.
He is a great writer and I have a few of his books that I got years ago when I was a boy and they are my Bibles 👌
Jack Idriess was a Great man. Such a wealth of knowledge AND experience. My mentor.
Outstanding :)
+odinp Thanks mate
Thank you
you reckon this would work in kalgoorlie?
It should work in any dry creek that carries gold. Regards Aussie
Good video mate cheers
Thanks mate. Regards Aussie
Wish I was there prospecting with you. You should save all that you are just wiping away.. I would run it through a good goldcube or something to get that fine gold
+Nathan Deneault Mate if you want to spend time running 20 extra buckets for virtually no return, then that's your perogative, but for me it's all about economy for effort, coupled with availability of water and equipment. Smart, effective prospecting is all about taking the path of least resistance, ie minimum effort for maximum return..Regards Aussie
Thanks for the free seminar!
ps: Just get a dust pan mate! ;-P
That was an awesome video....are you going to be showing another of the results from all of the wash? Cheers
+Arthur Edwards Thanks mate and Yes, I intend to make a follow-up video on the actual sluicing of this dirt
+Aussie Bloke Prospector Yeah mate thoroughly enjoyed that and can't wait to see a vid of the clean up.
+Len Cecchetto Cheers...Will hopefully get it done in the next month
Great Video
Thanks
Looks like a lot of persistence required. 😀⛏⛏
If you want success... then yes. Regards Aussie

Where I can find a book or paper explaining in detail the detail mine method
Get a book called "Prospecting for Gold" by Ion Idriess. It is the Australian Bible of Gold Prospecting, but is full of universal principles that can be used on any goldfield in the world. Regards Aussie
Thank you mate, I will find it
I’m sorry people but is there gold in morocco? We have a lot dry river beds! So please somebody answer me
This is what Google says:
"Morocco, although it contains no oil in its bosom, is nonetheless rich in such minerals as tin, gold and diamonds which are available in large deposits present in this country. ... As for gold, the Sahara Desert is one of the regions of Morocco, which has a great mining potential for this metal."
Regards Aussie
@@AussieBlokeProspector thank you so much! 🙏🏻
omg ay get some goid thiks you for that help ;3
Would a wire brush work ?
+michael therrien Yes a wire brush does work. I often use them for this. A grout cleaning brush made with nylon is also a good idea.
Cool thanks.
+Fat Wombat Actually I watched it again and you had one.
+michael therrien Sorry it was not me in the video. I was just answering your question.
+michael therrien G'day, a wire brush is good for scraping bedrock clean, but a paintbrush is better for sweeping it to reveal spots missed. Regards
How can I make or get a crevicing tool
Hi you can purchase here www.eurekaprospecting.com.au/83/crevicing-tool-set or it's pretty easy to make your own..just youtube it. Regards.
