This opened the route towards the Auric Bastion raised by the leading wizard of the Empire Balthasar Gelt and its breaking in Ostland culminated at the battle of the Castle Rackspire, where the Empire received unexpected help from the Vampire counts in the face of Vlad von Carstein ( • Chaos Invades the Empi... ). But this was just the beginning and the Chaos incursion into the Empire continued with the Rise of the Glottkin brothers ( • Rise of the Glottkin -... ) which led to the Fall of Marienburg ( • Fall of Marienburg - W... ). The inexorable movement of the Chaos armies continued with the Skaven invasion of Tilea and the siege of Miragliano ( • Skaven Invasion - Warh... ) and during the fall of Bretonnia ( • Fall of Bretonnia - Wa... ). With the fall of Bretonnia and Marienburg before it, the route to the Empire's capital, Altdorf was open and the Emperor Karl Franz alongside his allies from Bretonnia and Vampire Counts had to defend the city ( • Fall of Altdorf - Warh... ). Elsewhere, the Skaven attacked the Lizardmen of Lustria ( • Fall of Lustria - Warh... ), while the High Elves of Ulthuan has to fight their dark Elven brethren ( • Fall of Ulthuan - Warh... ). In other regions, the WAAAGH of Grimgor Ironhide and Nagash were rising ( • WAAAGH! and Nagash - W... ), the latter leading to the fall of Nehekara ( • Fall of Nehekara - War... ). Elsewhere, the Skaven attacked the Dwarfes, leading to the fall of the kingdom of Thorgrim Grudgebearer.

According to the book the Sniktch was able to climb all the way up to this room and waited for the dwarf king for days.

@@ebf1131 its common joke among WH fantasy community. Since Chaos forces win easily most battles, its often regarded as Neverchosen Fanfiction, as it was written by Archaon (called neverchosen by fans) where he literally becomes a god after burning the world and have Manfred commit world suicide
I call him Archaon the Unchosen when I wreck his armies in Total Warhammer.
It’s really amazing how this channel can make such horrid writing sound exciting and entertaining. Truly a great job and it really makes me wish GW would retcon the end times or redo them in a way that’s actually fun to read instead of every chapter ending with some version of “and so the good guys lost because uh… they just did because end times”

Thing was it was sealed. Throgrim was in a chamber no one could enter so Snitch entered via "REASONS" and killed the king just when his armour no longer worked. Convenient.
@@davidwhitfield6025 From what little I know of Snikch and his lore, he seems like the writers "oh shit I've backed myself into a corner" card. He's also a pain in the ass in Total War too. Love me those ratboys, but damn do I hate what little I know of Snikch.
@@FilmGuy7000 Lol yes he is that but every major Chaos figure gets this as well. The re-write of the battle between Grimgor and Archaon from Storm of Chaos (where Order did win the world wide campaign) and End Times is another example of this similar kind of BS. Chaos is always able to pull out a hereto never mentioned gimmick to win the day. So Snikch can now teleport into a place he's never been or even seen a layout of or he is so stealthy he sets off none of the rune alarms and is able to slip through a stone door Thorgrim himself closed. As much as there were some great moments they are always pulled down by this sort of crap.
Whoops, I guess 10 000 years of fighting the rats just slipped his mind and he forgot the basic idea that rats can get into small places. Ah well

I mean the fight it was a part of was pretty shit. Thorgrim just kills Queek without a fight in Queek's own book for no reason, then Bugman himself comes along and gives Thorgrim magical beer to un-chaos his boo-boos.
Doesn't even matter though because Thorgrim just dies almost immediately afterwards anyways because he was stupid for no reason, I guess. Left a very important door open just because and died to a skaven sneak attacks in a suit of armor that was supposed to be able to ward off sneak attacks.

Ok I’m a slimy skaven player, but when the Dawi king started exclaiming grudges during battle I got some chills! So epic.
Only 500 skaven for the lost of almost 100 carts of Gromril? Only 2000 skaven for the lost of a hold? Whoever wrote those grudges was drunk, damn GWs numbers.

This one really annoyed me because it was really good and stirring story right up until the writer decided to cheat and have Snikch enter a place no one could enter. It was a sealed chamber! Suddenly the Skaven could open portals anywhere in Karak A Karaz. Why didn't they use this "ability" earlier? How did Snitch know to attack Thorgrim right when his armour had a crack? Once again Chaos got to play "I win because I say so" rule card.
Also the unending supply of Skaven got me as well. Brood Mothers don't pop out fully grown skaven. It does take a little time and the massive losses the Skaven clans had sustained leading up to and including the siege of the last Dwarf hold. This all happens in a matter of months. Even the Russians had to stop after each offensive against the Germans to regroup, heal and reinforce (usually taking around six months to do it). Skarsnick also was done poorly here. I remember at the time many Greenskin gamers complaining that he would never have been that stupid.

@@ZanderChief That's excellent. Perfect descriptor. Similar thing almost happened in Storm of Chaos when they just killed off Valten by having a Skaven Assassin murder him after his fight with Archaon. When Chaos is in trouble call in the Rat Assassins to turn things around.
I mean. Chaos literally is Deus Ex Machina. The only reason why they didn't destroy the world, is that they don't really try to. Though humans perceive only negative aspects of chaos, they actually represent complex forces of nature.
@@TheRezro Well at the end of End Times they did destroy the World it's just that the 4 Chaos Gods were satiated (Slaanesh for example becoming completely stuffed with all those Elf souls) and turned their attention elsewhere allowing the remaining Order Avatars to pick up pieces and create the different planes of existence that became the Age of Sigmar. But unlike say Morgroth the Chaos Gods destroyed the planet and both their own followers as well as their foes. In a way kind of like the Tyranids.

I really love this channel as well as Kings and Generals. They have the formula down to a science and can make something as inherently crappy as End Times interesting.
I seriously started rewatching your channel (to watch the Elder Scrolls lore videos) but was looking through the Warhammer playlists to see what wars you covered. I was sad to see there were no dwarf centered videos. That was literally a day ago. And then this video drops today! Crazy haha
So much of this makes no sense to me. One being how snarsknik would ever ally with queek especially considering when it came to control of eight peaks the skaven were always the greater threat.
In the end time book series they make a bargain.

Could you guys remake mongol jin wars ? I am quite fond of mongol wars especially jin wars, there are numerous wonderfull battles like Battle of yehuling, Battle of Sanfengshan and others, could you make all these battles and more detailed mongol jin wars ? It's unfortunate that the end times are so poorly written.
Tilea and Estallia are constantly at war with the skaven. Throwing them back year after year and knowing their strategies and weaknesses.
So it makes perfect sense that they instantly collapsed when the Skaven attacked

When I heard High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer, Last King of Karaz Ankor, I felt a sense of dark foreboding.
The Skaven really pull a dirty fast one at the last minute.

I am torn up. I dont know if I want to watch anymore of these videos. I absolutely love it every minute of it, but at the same time crestfallen, knowing that the warhammer races are facing defeat and annihilation left-right-and center 😢

What makes me cringe hard is every single bloody design of dwarf holds and keeps in warhammer fantasy. A SINGLE gate that is positioned INFRONT of the actual main entrance to the keep and only 1 wall, thats it. No complex gatehouses, no additional wall segments to retreat to, no hidden counter-attack gates, no forward positioned bastillons, no anti-tunneling tactics against an enemy known SPECIFICALLY for tunnelling under. Pure dissappointment

Ahhhh. The end times! One of the worst story telling ever crafted in the history of fantasy lore. Where the other side won not because of cunning tactics and impressive commanders, but because of dumb plot armor. If you want the bad guys to win, at least make it super earned. Lazy wins are always yawn and just forcing the readers to be r3t@rd3d.
What is the value in good guys losing every time? It's cool as a game but the dam lore is so dark and depressing for them all it's a turn off.
Yeah, no basically this is all bullshit with that type of terrain and that type of artillery and with that many dwarves in one place with the stockpiles and information they had they should’ve made a Bastian in the mountains overlooking the battlefields and blown them to shit. and even if they did fail, they should’ve basically left the Ratman at least half of the entire army should’ve died from a military perspective. like dwarfs are legendary for their stonemasonry and their architecture and their fortresses and defensive strategy so what does the literal largest and most heavily fortified fortress with the most dwarves and ammunition and stockpiles and information do

I can see why people hate end times the Ratman really have the biggest plot armor for being the weakest hoard enemie they shouldn’t be able to beat that level of engineering because they’re hoard enemies because they have they have anti- hoard and infantry weapons. Peoppe hate on this but i kove that the skaven took over. If someone animated it it could be a extremely good horror animation of sorts. Where the rat men slowly take over with unreasonably numbers.

Although predictable, it's depressing how the dwarfs went back to their usual strategy of "weathering the storm" after Thorgrim's death, instead of following the example he set in his whole life. They should have surged out, abandoning their holds and rendezvousing with the Empire. This clarity is what makes Gotri Hammerson's Zhufbarak stabd out in the latter stages of the war. But I guess no one can blame the other dwarfs: holing down helped then survive one apocalypse before, so they wrongly assumed it'd work again.
Never been a Warhammer fan, and man I can still tell the writing by their team was *bad*. Credit to the K&G team for making this sound and look cool... Even with parts so dumb I can't help but laugh. 😂
It feels like the end time lore is more of a meme, it's so bad if it was a serious attempt at creating legit lore?
One small correction: Chamon wasn't attracted to Thorgrim, but to the Master Rune containing Grungni's essence graven on the Throne of Power. He still got power from it, but he wasn't a true Incarnate. It's noted that Thorgrim could have been fully bonded with Chamon, had he had a more flexible mindset and more time. Sadly, his dwarfen stubbornness and Snikch's intervention prevented that.
I hate what they did to my boys in the End Times. Long live the Dawi!

I see many people dissatisfied with the fact that the "good guys" lose easily in the end of times or that they became useless, literally in the entire Warhammer saga we see the "bad guys" fall to armies of 100 when they have like 10,000 and they fall easily or like fools, be objective

I am weirdly excited for Rakarth's entry if you are planning to do it, cause I know in his chapter he kinda steals the show in his chapter being a badass like no other, he could have ran after the death of his beloved mount, and live to die to the forces of chaos, yet he didn't. I never read the books, but I hope you do him justice in this beautiful editing style. (note: Never played Dark Elves, I play Skarsnik, and I hate how he is in the end time books)
