I love these videos, the battlerom footage is always so entertaining. Your commentary sounds especially energetic on this one in particular and it's awesome. You should do the Flea next, I haven't seen a light mech in a while.
Well, it's not how I normally talk. I have to literally go out of my way to sound monotonous because it's not how I normally talk, so it's possible that I just naturally slip back into my "storytelling" style of commentary.
@@SupremeBioShock I like all of them. I can't remember the name but whichever one has two ballistic slots is my favorite. Twin light rifles are too much fun.
Not sure what I'll do with the Catapult yet. I haven't used it much in stream since the chat hasn't voted for it. That's usually where I get a lot of ideas.
That would not go well for the Highlanders either. The 733 is severely outgunned at long range which is probably where it's going to be fighting since it's extremely slow.
best mechwarrior 5 tutorials on yt 🤗 great style, great amount of information about the lore and the technicalities of the mechs. only downside: i want more😂
I'm glad you like it. I have tried to make them faster. I used to be on a 7 day schedule, but I couldn't maintain it. I gave it about 3 months to see if I could make a 7 day schedule work, but it was simply too aggressive of a schedule.
I think this is the best way to build the 733 until lostech becomes available when it becomes unlocked. It definitely has underwhelmed a little compared to my expectations. Edit. Except the Vest. Its insane.
Yeah, this did better than I was expecting especially because normally I'd be able to equip higher quality versions of the weapons I used, and my allies wouldn't be in stock configs.
You can also counter arm loss by managing your distance. In specifically MW5, there is damage dropoff on weapon ranges, and the AI won't even fire certain weapons beyond their soft range limits like the AC20. You can avoid a lot of damage even though the weapons are literally hitting you because they're doing like half their normal damage due to range falloff. That's what's happening in this video in many cases. I'm being hit, but they aren't doing full damage.
Maybe intermediate or advanced manuals for future mechs? If not, then maybe a mauler or king crab beginner refit would be nice, love the battlerom being implemented btw
It's going to take over a year just to make 1 beginner guide for each Mech. It's an issue of it being a very large job, so I'm just focusing on completing this series first.
Certainly in time, I kind of follow the Mechs I'm covering in the streams since I have my community vote for the Mechs to use, and I have to get 1 of every variant and try them out. By time I'm done? I usually have a good idea of what would be suitable for a new player. Once a Mech is voted for, it's stricken from the list and can't be voted for again until all the Mechs get 1 chance.
Hmm, well, to start, I prefer fast Mechs in general, so I don't really care for Assault Mechs. I like light Mechs, medium Mechs and the faster heavy Mechs like the Dragon or the Champion. When I do play Assault Mechs, I like the Mauler in general. Amongst the faster assault Mechs, I like the Hatamoto-Chi if you have Solaris for PPC-Xs. I like the Highlander VEST. I like the Cyclops 11P and 10P. I like the Banshee 2P. Those are some I like off the top of my head. They also however play to my particular playstyle though.
@@GitGudFox yeah. the dragon is great! the only thing i do not like about it is that it has so many different types of weapons, but even that is not purely a disadvantage, because you can chance it around to make it fit anyone’s playstyle. Hmm, PPC-X, you said. great idea. i think i wanna try out the hatsmoto-chi next.
Yeah, this guide is mainly for people who happen have a 733, so they're just a Highlander enthusiast and want to use a common model; however, it also teaches the fundamentals of the game as well since this model uses T1 equipment, no lostech, no upgrades etc.
Another fantastic beginner manual Commander Fox. It's a shame that we can't perform a Highlander Burial in this game. By the time I get one I just remove the jump jets for ammo for the auto-cannon or switch it to a gauss rifle. Quick question, when would you want jump jets on a assault mech? On light mechs it'd make sense to make yourself erratic and unpredictable as possible but on assault mechs, they don't do much for me.
True, but it also means it doesn't work on us either, and since I never use jump jets, I never have to worry about that random Mech falling on top of me.
Given you went full LRM spam with both missile slots, I would've figured you'd also go for a heavy rifle and make it a total longe range fire support mech. Otherwise, yeah the AC5 is probably the best overall ballistic weapon in the game. A shame, as it lacks the jaw dropping oomf of an AC20 deleting mechs in a well placed shot.
Well, every video has a variety of test models. 733-1X AC5 model, the one that won the test. 733-2X AC5-RF model, didn't quite perform as well. Ran out of ammo. 733-3X Heavy Rifle model, overheated frequently, wasn't worth the concentrated damage 733-4X Heavy Rifle BF model, also overheated frequently and resulted in lower overall damage.
@@GitGudFox Fair enough, I'd probably try a similar build with lostech, as by the time you can start fielding Assaults the player would have some double heatsinks to play with by that point as well. Same for subbing the MLas for chem MLas instead. Anything to ease the heat burden but keep the burst damage.
That depends. You could definitely just skip right into Assault Mechs out of light Mechs by just saving up some c-bills and moving into a bigger industrial hub. By time you get to Kestrel Lancers, you could field multiple assault lances while simultaneously not having enough double heatsinks at the same time especially if you don't know how to bum off some double heatsinks from other sources like hero Mechs. Also, if you're familiar enough with the game where you know how to nickel and dime double heatinks for Mechs early, then you're probably familiar enough with the game where you can just do whatever you want with any build you want and would have no use for build guides either. This is a Beginner's guide after all.
The most likely Mechs I'll do are the ones that I cover in the streams since the chat votes for which Mechs I use, and so I get A LOT of time to test builds for them, so it's very likely the next guide will be the Raven since it was a voted Light Mech unless another Mech hits me out of nowhere I really want to do.

There can only be one!
I god damned love these
I'm honored you enjoy them!
We need the HGN-733PP video where you shamble into battle at 48km yelling "SCOTLAND FOREVER!" with the assault claymore.
I'd probably have an easier time with the VEST there.
Yes! 😆
Dude, such awesome videos and style
Thank you very much!

The Highlander is the mech that trained me to torso twist properly. If you don't, you'll always be losing your main weapon.

What is the colourway used? Looks like Taurian to me, but the metal parts are not black.

SB is pretty good unless the Mech only has like 1-2 lasers. Then I'll still use normal lasers.
