Good thing about this is it can fit in the back of a minivan with the seats down... You don't even need a ramp to get it in there. Truly versatile. I live in Canada, and mobility on ice is a great constraint for our ice fishing.
As long as you have 3 strong people to put it in there...
@@applegal3058 hello! Some folks load Snowdog in the car by themselves ruclips.net/video/AE6qkV8cGCw/видео.html
Use whatever approach is safe and comfortable for you :)
we had a machine like that in army in the 70.s
Nice. I saw an electric version along these lines a long time ago. Not sure if it's a replacement for my sled, but it'd be fun to play with.
Definitely not even in the same ballpark as a sled. Makes a better workhorse though.
i find my self watching these for no reason
Demon of insanity me too if you want something useful reliable and that can haul a lot buy a work snowmobile lol
@@henryhenry903thank you for the input. Snowmobile is a good tool for some tasks. Other tasks require a different type of machine - one which is able to ride without a snow, or is just a couple feet wide and able to make sharp turns, or is significantly cheaper etc. That is what SnowDog built for.
This is pretty innovative and cool this could make a very good and quick rescue and recovery tool for small tight spaces that snowmobiles and such can't.
Absolutely love these. Living in Mid Wales, UK we are occasionally snowed in. If used without the sled it’s a motorised pedestrian controlled vehicle. Could walk to the shops, load up and walk back until I was off road then hook up the sled to get back home. No road tax or insurance etc. Perfect. Would love the handles to be able to be offset so could walk to one side whilst towing the sled. UK law would class it as a vehicle if ridden in on the road and would therefore need registration and insurance.
Awsome!
DeezCashewFilms can it pull an elk or moose?
Yes, have a look ruclips.net/video/OqCg4dl6-bM/видео.html

Interesting concept. I haven’t seen any on Lake Simcoe in Ontario. I’m sure if a few ppl had them they might catch the attention of the thousands of ice fishermen.
You should make a plow attachment for the front, so people can use them to clear driveways and footpaths. This would add to your sales base
Thank you for the tip, Peter!
That's a really good idea, great for sidewalks
Or snowplower attachment. A plow dont put snow right where u want it all the time. At least with a blower u can shoot it up over railings.
@@foleydave26 thank you for your input Dave, we'll tell about it to our tech guys.
Somebody already invented this, it's called a snowblower
I am waiting for the twin turbo 1000R model...
I loved this when I saw it, and recently decided to look into them again...theres a dealer a few hours from here where I also went to college so when lockdown ends I wanna check it out. I might even trade my ATV for it if I like what I see...Im a backcountry skier, backcountry first-responder and I teach adaptive skiing to people with physical differences. THIS COULD BE A MIRACLE!
I was inspired by this russian track-bike thing that doesnt turn to look into the SnowDog again. Its making the rounds on facebook...but Ive wanted the SnowDog for years! I also used to race modified lawnmowers as a kid and spent weeks of my life researching parts for a Centrifugal clutch setup and sourcing the biggest motor within regulations...fabricating parts out of scrap steel and repairing with bubblegum!
Im very excited to see everything!
...let's say I was to turbocharge it...Yall have any athletes yet? ;) (not kidding about turbocharging it, I just need to see the space/CVT first)
Lockdown ends on the 20th of this month, Ill be on the horn when the dealer opens!
Thank you, that is quite a story! We have no athletes yet per se haha :) It'd be great to see what you have in mind regarding turbocharging. Needles to say we are also interested to know if Snowdog will help with your adaptive skiing teaching!
I'm ready to take the SnowDog Challenge
If I saved up my money I’d buy one, it looks awesome and I don’t even like the other snow mobiles. But this looks so cool
As a avid ice fishermen this machine would work perfect on all the small ponds and lakes. Buying a snowmobile you need a trailer I don’t have any room for that, this I can put right in my garage and be done.
@@ralphlaguna5433 stick with the snowmobile then if you know it all. Two years later and I can still haul 1400 pounds of gear behind me still don’t have to register it still don’t have to insure it can still pick it up and throw it in the back of my truck. This is what fits me buddy
I live in texas and this was suggested to me. I have no need for it, but I want one.
Very nice!!! :)
Pretty cool! I just saw one coming off of the ice on Lake Michigan. Where he was fishing would have been a very long walk.
I wish I would have known about this sooner. If I saw this when this video came out, I would have bought one right away. I just dropped over $10,000 (cdn) on a quad. I'm in the market for a second off road vehicle and this looks great!
They need to get the price down a bit before i consider it. Would like to have one but its a bit pricey
Million dollar idea!
one thing i think is neat is how compact it is. it would be great for ice fishing, especially 2 guys can pick it up easily and throw it in a truck (no trailer needed), but how is it starting in the cold? Will it start reliably in -30C?
Hello! Provided the machine is in good condition, sure. It's all about following the maintenance procedures as they are explained in the manual.
Yep, my Grandfather had an old 1960’s bombardier version rusting out behind the shed.
It won't go where a snowmobile will, not even close.
Looks cool but I wonder why there isn't a wheel kit/option for the trailer section as well as a bigger trailer.
Hello, Joe! We already produce wheeled semi-trailers, you can check them here: snowdog.com/#accessories
Are they designed to be used in summer months as well or do they require the lubrication of snow like a sled?
this would work good on the trap line
Isaac lockwood my thoughts exactly!
bolens made a version of this in the sixties. There are reasons why this is still around though.
I’ll take 2 please
Michigan requires you to register it as an ORV to use in public areas or on the ice
Nope
Still cheaper than to register and trail sticker your led
Can you plow snow with it?
You guys should do a wheel kit for the sled for in the summer or for deer hunting in the fall.
Actually, we have recently released a wheeled semi-trailers specifically for the tasks you've mentioned! They will be available for purchase starting December.

Laugh all you want but I've never seen Snow. If I did I would be snowdoging it . I was thinking it would be a Excellent RC tank .
You show up to work one day with a kids wagon tied to this..... I fell like that might work hehe :D
Could you develop a wheeled trailer with high flotation tires using a larger plastic tray?while the tray shown works it would cause less wear on dry or Rocky ground having wheels.
Ah, but we already did, here, take a look ruclips.net/video/b4dPjN26HXY/видео.html

Put a snow blower on the front
You put only videos of the snowdog on flat surface , how does it goes in mountains ? Tank you . Cause i whant to buy one and im living in mountain area.
Hello. Here's a video about going uphill: instagram.com/p/CFexLAggVcu/
In general Snowdog can climb up to 30 degree uphill .

This looks very interesting. How hard would it be to try one out in the conditions here in Yellowknife? We have very dry snow, almost like sand. Looking to haul tents, stove, moose, firewood, etc.
Hi! SnowDog should work well for what you listed, that`s exactly what it is built for:)
There is a SnowDog dealer in Yellowknife, please go to snowdog.com/map for details
SnowDog that’s great! Thanks.
Seen one of these today as I was getting off a lake from ice fishing.... Very cool!! The lake had little to no snow on it so it was like glass and he got on, attached his buddies sleds (3,4 of them) and easily headed out. 👍😁
How deep of snow can you drive through with these hauling a typical load of gear?
Hello, Brux. It really depends on how compressed the snow is. Snowdog always tries to ride over snow, not through it, and you can ride over snow up to a couple feet deep usually. It might be necessary to get out of the sled at certain points.
When the snow is compressed tightly the machine goes over bigger depth.
Also there is a special accessory to enhance Snowdog deep snow performance - the slider suspension.
How do they work on a rough gravel road, such as a logging road or older woods road?
Hello, Kyle. Every surface type is OK, except for areas with sharp rocks e.g. gravel, and areas with a lot of sand e.g beaches.
Paint ball tank is what I was thinking a few modifications
To whom it may concern, I was curious if snowdog had a plow-mod available and was surprised that there wasn't one advertise on the website. In your opinion is there a module that would make a good walk behind plow for light to moderate accumulation? It would have to have low torque and a way of regulating it's speed.
Hello, Jeremy. Thank you for your question! Our current models aren't heavy enough and do not have a reducing gear, but we are currently working toward a solution.
@@snowdog Tank you.
Will this handle forest roads in Colorado? 2-3 foot snow? Does anyone put a prow (not a plow) on the front to help get through deep snow?
Hello. Snowdog handle up to two feet of snow on average. It mostly depends on how compressed the snow is.
cupholder eh? so would that constitute as a dui? since youre getting pulled by a machine?
Hello, Ashton. Different regions have different regulations regarding SnowDog. We recommend to ask your nearest dealer to get the information.
Here is our dealer map: snowdog.com/map
Its definitely cool
hello. could you tell me what mpg this machine gets? and how well does it work on dry ground? looking at the B13MER for primary travel and utility purposes on a future property in AK.
Hello! SnowDog goes rather well on dry ground, it was designed with such way of use in mind. It needs 5 liters on 100km, it's about 0.5 gallon per hour.
20km/hr max speed, it would take 5 hrs at max speed to go 100km. If the machine consumed 5 litres to travel 100 km at max speed, according to your data, it would burn about 0.2 gallons per hour not 0.5 gallons per hour.
@@davidmonsigneur1198 Hello! Kudos to you for taking the time to explain your point of view.
Don't forget, the variety of situations, where SnowDog may be used, is large. The max speed is 20mph (32km/h), but you get this on an "easy" surface, like frozen lake without much snow. You'll get only a fraction of this, when dealing with more challenging terrain type and/or snow cover.
Thus the numbers are provided only for general reference and shouldn't be used for real-life calculations.
Yeah this came up as a recommended video for me. I love the idea. But, unfortunately, I will just buy an old snowmobile with a blown motor and build my own. Many videos on RUclips showing people doing just that. I do like your video, because it gave me ideas on things to add when I make mine!
Hello, Jeremy! SnowDogs were not meant to kill snowmobiles, there's no direct competition. SnowDog is a tool for when being small, agile and less fuel-consuming is preferable over snowmobile's strong sides. Good luck with your endeavour anyway!
Where's the video of the Dog with skis on the front??
The ski module video is not available yet
I notice none of the video shows people carrying their ice fishing gear with them. How do you fit all of the necessary gear into the same sled you are standing in?
Hello, Murray! Here is a video showing carrying the gear: ruclips.net/video/WyhmoY4HmzM/видео.html
You can place it in the same sled, in the other sled an in the Snowdog luggage compartment.
Has anyone done an E85 tune on one of these :)
I may have missed it in the video, but what is the top speed?
20 mph
I like Peter Welch's idea of somehow putting a plow device on the front for snowplowing in the winter. I also think another use would be just for older or perhaps handicapped people to get around better in the winters. The standard scooter works great to tool around the neighborhood in the summer weather...not so much in the winter.
I get that this is geared toward hunters/fishermen/hobby farms etc. but, it would work great for taking an elderly parent or grandparent on a gentle ride around the neighborhood or even on hiking/nature trails to get them out of the house for a bit. Being house bound has got to be one of the most frustrating/ loneliest times for our older folk. My parents are good now.....but, down the road I'm thinking this would be just the thing to take them out in nature to enjoy the birds/wildlife.
Thank you for your input, Jimmy, that's something to think about. Best regards to your folks!
I'm disabled since sep.03 from mid back down and this snow dog COMBINED with my snow blower in the front would be great...from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠🇺🇸p.s stay safe and healthy everybody GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY
Very awesome machine and someday I might get or build one. Also seen that someone mentioned adding a snowplow. Does it have reverse? If not, a plow would be a royal pain in the butt. You’d have to get off and push it backwards constantly.
Hello, Scott. Thank you for your interest. Yes, we have a model with reverse:
snowdog.com/catalog/models/snowdog-standard-b13mer/
How much are these
Snow in a slippery plastic sled and standing in that sled looks pretty sketchy to me... on flat surfaces it might be okay but I'm thinking about that going in and out of my cabin and I just can't see it working in 300 inches of snow and varied terrain.
I think we had a dealer up here last year but I haven't seen them advertised from them this year.
I beleive I'll stick with my ol Tundra.
We hope you will find the time to visit the dealer to check SnowDog for yourself. It was designed to be agile, compact and all-season, it is basically a different product category than the snowmobile. It'd be great, if you could try it to get that general impression, you know.
Cool
Does it need registration on public lands/water?
In some states, a registration number may be required. For example, New Hampshire.
AWESOME MACHINE...VERY COOL. HOW MUCH?
Thank you :)
It's $3,065 - $3,883.75

You need a protective cover for the drive sprocket.
Hello! We have it as an accessory. Here is the full list: snowdog.com/products/access/
I think it's great idea that could help in a lot of ways if you market it to the right people. My dog would like me to buy a snow dog so he could ride in the back.
That is a reasonable request. Not the mention he could become epic photo model.
I would purchase, if it came with an onboard 8-track stereo system.
)))
You should adapt it for a wheel chair too
Thank you for the idea, we understand its importance and will seriously consider it.
Just wondering if that thing should happen not to start I wonder how it would be pulling that thing back to where you started since it doesn't have wheels or anything to help it along
You just put it into the sled and start hauling....
It's a task machine. It's a task to use. I've always wanted to stand in an otter sled going 20mph at 10 below
Why stand, when you can sit! Check out the seats, Philip: snowdog.com/products/access/
Some situations just aren't for the warm cars, they're either too big or too heavy etc. Thus we build SnowDogs :)
If you put skies and a seat on it that would be neat
Please make them affordable, 3k is insane. Id pay 1500 at most maybe.
I tried the same line at the Ferrari dealership but instead I bought a Honda!
Get a real job, you poor morons where me out. You have no money - walk and pull your sled that you made with garbage bags over an old pallet
Wear me out👍
A good generator is over 2k, 3 isn't bad considering you're over 10k for a sled
Get a job then 😂
But can it jump pressure cracks?
Hello! We advice against riding over ice cracks. Not only is it not good for the track, but it also isn't safe.
Does it come with a sled though?
Hello! The sled is sold separately.
@@snowdog lol more money, lol wtf milking every drop out of people.
I had one, After first ride was broken. It was repaired and I sold after two weeks.
Can I buy one for fun?
Sure, SnowDog is a great machine for winter fun, and also a good tool for chores.
SnowDog can it be used by ski patrollers
Cool idea! But i still prefer my snowmobile
So do people just stand in their flip over shelters and zoom away with these? I like the concept......I don't have room in my garage for an ATV/Snowmobile, and this would be a good "in between" for ice fishing for me.
I’ve seen these before and thought the guy just made a diy rig with a lawn mower until I saw this
I went fishing with my homemade sled happened to run into a fisherman from Russia where they build them got talking about price in Russia they sell the 13hp for about 800 Canadian and the twin track is about 1500 Canadian so why do dealers need 6000 Canadian and 9800 for the twin track someone is ripping us off
Make it remote controlled and ill buy it
uhmmmm seatless snowmobile that goes slow. Ok I get it
Sam Fosdick right
What's more important to you, speed or greater range?
CarlS. Umm the range won’t be as long as a snowmobile due to the big difference in fuel tank size
Of course it has the seat :) It also goes easily where snowmobile can't, like over grass or through narrow spots etc.
SnowDog ok but what about hills? And I don’t mean mountains and I don’t mean humps?
I guess I'm gonna have to move to some place with snow, so i can justify have one of these...
You can use the Snowdog all year round 🙂
Still going!
I'd seriously consider this. I want a work horse and no one builds a work sled anymore.
J. Dana Clark lol yes they do and they are four strokes too
They do make utility sled's, they are just too heavy....and expensive....from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠🇺🇸p.s stay safe and healthy everybody GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY
@@billallen4793 I'm not sure they do. I've looked through the line ups and I didn't see anything I'd class as a proper work sled. Ski doo discontinued the Elan years ago and Yamaha stopped building the bravo in 2012 I think. No one has stepped up to replace them.
"without the need of any tools", as the operator is using both a ratchet and box end wrench.
Critter87 I noticed that too lol 1:58
I think the tools were to adjust the height of the handles bars. Once set you would not need tools

These are cool I see them on lakes enough id go buy one today if it dropped a thousand off price 3 grand and they can’t even put a Honda motor or Kawasaki? Seems odd
So it takes two to load/unload but only one can use it?
Stefan, it's simpler for two people to (un)load it, but you can do it by yourself as well, see the videotutorial please: ruclips.net/video/6fRIDkEy0hg/видео.html
Also, SnowDog can be used by 3 men of course, not just one!
Just make one they even said just pipe a engine transmission of sort kinda like or from a bike and a old ski doo track shortened up I have all of that in my shed
How about a sled with no back wall. That way a motorized wheelchair can drive right in, and our paralyzed outdoor enthusiast buddies can come along on the snowmobile trips!
You should make fishanty versions
What is a fishanty, Patrick?
$2800 for a self propelled lawnmower with tracks? I'll buy a used snow machine. Cool concept though
Hello, James. Snowdog has some important advantages i.e. :
- it's agile, can be manipulated in tight areas, can go where snowmobile can't, like between some trees, under/over log
- it's all-season, there are even wheeled semi-trailers built for Snowdog
- it's small, can easily be transported in a truck or even in a SUV
- while used snowmobiles tend to consume a lot of fuel, Snowdog is economical (5 l /100 km)
- etc.
Naturally, snowmobile has advantages of its own, it's all about individual needs and circumstances.
@@snowdog His point still stands. $2,800 for the SnowDog, vs $300 for a sled. $50-$100 for a blown sled and $300 for a brand new Briggs and Stratton engine. $400 in and I have a SnowDog minus the sled. It's a great product and all, but I couldn't see myself sinking almost three grand into something I could build for under $500. For those who don't have the time or don't want to put forth the effort, it may be worth it, but not to me.
Burn Victim Yoda
I see your point . But I really don’t think you can realistically make one for $500 ... and even if you could .. I doubt it would be as trouble free and reliable with all the bugs worked out as a brand new snow dog .
The argument of a used snowmobile. Well for that kind of money in a snowmobile you will have yourself an older nearly worn out machine .
I can see the market for snow dogs . Basic reliable transportation in remote back woods in the dead of winter . Exactly where I wouldn’t t want an old beater sled that may or may not get me home .
Also .. have you ever got a snowmobile stuck badly In deep snow ? Not something you want to deal with alone . However, I can see a snow dog being pretty quick and easy to unstuck alone if need be .
@@gordboyko769 Last year I bought an 89 Yamaha Exciter for $300. It's a little older, but it's in great shape and the engine runs amazing. A sled is more of a toy, and a SnowDog is a utility vehicle. Obviously there are situations where a SnowDog would be better and some where a sled would be better. All you need to make a SnowDog is a track and skid from a sled, a running engine, and a means to drive the track with the engine. Obviously you need the proper tools (welder/grinder/etc.), but if you already have the tools, it's entirely possible to make a SnowDog of your own for under $500. As for the reliability, it's going to be as reliable as the work you put into it. There are a few videos here on RUclips of people making these things. REDNIC79 has a video and states that it took him about two weeks and it was a "really easy project". It may cost a little over $500 if you're purchasing steel and hardware to build a frame and such, but it's still far cheaper than $2,800.
SnowDog, I could take my used, used $300 snowmachine anywhere the SnowDog could go at a much faster speed and with more comfort. I groom my own fat bike trails with that used snowmachine and it’ll go through far deeper snow than the SnowDog could ever hope to. Who cares with the SnowDog can go under slightly lower tree limbs or logs? Bike riders, skiers, walkers, snow shoers and the SnowDog operator are all higher above the ground than me, sitting on my sled while riding it. You are going to cut that stuff down and out of the way for any trail so it’s a moot point. Over a log, yeah, show me what log the SnowDog can go over that a regular snowmachine can’t. As far as width goes, and old cheap snowmachine can be as narrow as 28” with a 15” wide track. In deep snow the rut from a 15” wide track is too narrow for a Fatbike to comfortably pedal through as you hit the sides. The handlebars on anynbike are much wider that 15” and so is the normal torso with ski poles so the SnowDog has no advantage in this area either.
I like that theres no liscence, registration or other government money grabs that provide you with a paper with no value!
Might as well be selling flip phones with a slinky chord.
How do the cops feel about people riding these things around? Looks like a fun way for the kids to get to school. No more walking 5km in knee deep snow, up hill both ways...
Hello! Regulation vary from place to place, so we recommend checking with the local dealer.
At first I was not impressed at all actually I thought it was cheesy dumb but watching the whole video pretty impressed with it but for the price it’s well worth it I mean the cost to put the thing together and everything I understand that but for around three grand at least for me and we do have a lot of snow cold weather I could even upgrade my UTV with are used of course tracks or a older snowmobile they could do more than this is this thing had more horsepower it’s got a nice track with width an length and it is compact but I get it useful little bit of alterations for getting an elk out somewhere or a lot of firewood in a tight corner and haul it out But maybe you guys have configurations for that sell before making too many comments and judgments I think I’m gonna go on your guises website and do some more research

So, it's like a snowmobile, except worse in every possible way? $2-3k could get you a really nice snowmachine, or a decent one with a trailer, or 4-5 beaters.
Hello. The biggest advantages of Snowdog are
- extremely low ground pressure which might be very important for ice-fishing
- compactness, which allows to transport it in the car's trunk
- ability to ride over grass, dirt etc. without any problems whatsoever as it's truly an all-season machine
- low fuel consumption, low maintenance cost, no need to licence/register in many areas of the world
I was thinking about buying one till I heard the deck is made from plywood. Think I’ll stick with my snowmobile
Hello, Lloyd! Snowdogs are for the situations, when you need more transportability, compactness, agility and less spendings. Our tracksled is noticeably smaller, easier to maintain and consumes less fuel than a typical snowmobile does.
But if these benefits aren't important enough in your scenario, it makes sense to just keep using whatever you are using, sure. It's all a matter of circumstances.
