Nice job that's a beautiful knife and glad you repurposed something, but it's hard to watch with the music
Dislike for horrible background music 🤕😣👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Stupid question but what kind of wood did you use?
I have to try it :) really nice work.
That is a damn good looking knife
What temperature did you use to temper that blade ?
Love the idea and you make a good video. But narrating the steps and giving some verbal info on the steps and tools used would be better for beginners.
That's so cool man I'm happy for you man
Just beautiful. Liked and subscribed. Amazing creativity and craftsmanship. Thanks!
Could you explain to me with what angles you did the roughing?
Great job! ✌🏻
Any idea what hardness it ended up at? And what type of steel it is?
That knife going into the jar.....money shot!!!!!
Very beautiful
Awesome work!
is that oil? or water? if oil, what kind of oil are you quenching it?
If it's oil probably it's canola oil, I'm not expert but I know that water quenching increase the risk of cracking the steel
@@bnkz7417 where I live, there is no canola oil sold so sunflower seed oil or olive oil does the same job?
@@Luka_M i don't know I'm not an expert but I have seen a video and the guy of the video said that some oil can do the same but you should use vegetable oil because when you will put the knife in the oven is not a good idea have residue of motor oil, sorry for the bad English
@@Luka_M try search OUTDOOR55 I think his video are good for what you are searching
@@bnkz7417 Coconut oil is very good for hardening process also.
Nice work with some very basic tools. Awesome job!
Just found your channel. Excellent job and GREAT file work.
I absolutely love it especially the beautiful finish! I also tried it quite a while ago on my channel. It turned out great! Files are a great material for making knives. Those knives stay sharp for a very long time!
How do u stop the knife fron getting rusty
@@mattybwrblombo71 Any high carbon knife will get rusty if not cared for..Welcome to old School Wonderful Carbon..A File is 1095 steel....Union Cutlery\Kabar--Ontario--Tops....Now they coat them but old school people maintained, built use patina that protected..Did not store in sheath but always had elite blade.....I Have Citadel Cambodia blades, made from Bohler DNH7.....they come with zip pouch to store knife so won't get rusty in storage...Johnson's wax in the yellow can..Works for steel, leather, ceramic, rubber, wood,BEST ON EARTH,OLD WW2 TRICK...Is much more than floor wax....Real Old school maintained their blades and learned how to sharpen by hand,NEVER GRINDER.'.....We need more Old School back in this world....Real knife here, done top shelf...SALUTE!!!(SUBBED)
Imas zlatne ruke , nema sta !
That’s a cool jig for the file! How to video???
That's how its Done!!!!!
Bravo! A work of art my friend.
Cotton wood makes great coal rocks really great for heating up metal
🔥 👍 👍 💪💪
That turned out really nice with heaps of character.... Well done
Now that's a beautiful knife. Thanks for sharing. Awesome job. GF1 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😎
Can I give two thumps up?
beautiful
Why did you harden it? You dont need to harden a file, only temper, as far as i know...
I did bevels with file. That's why I annealed it first then harden it again.
When yo do bevels with a file the you need to harden it again? No matter what?
Yes..if you want usable blade.
But when i do the bevels with angle grinder?
Then you don't need to do it...just temper it.But be very careful to not overheat it.
Excellent craftsmanship
Beautifully thick.
There's a lot of hours in that knife, Awesome Job..! Love it.
Vrhunski majstore.
This was awesome to watch. I've been wanting to make a knife out of my rasp. But being a wood worker I can't bring myself to destroy a rasp for a knife.
Just go to yard sales or flea markets and find some files for a few dollars.
@@legacyhuntergaming5399 That is a good idea or you can just buy some barstock-a nice piece of 1080/95 or 80crv2 is not expensive at all from njsteelbaron
👌
Amazing workmanship with only basic tools👍
Mmmmmmm smeellsss goood!
EXCELENTE
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls
Precioso. Un saludo
Winner 🏆
Good job man
What is the purpose of the rounded notch at the base of a blade?
I think its for striking a ferro rod to make fire.
Its called a choil or sharpening notch its makes sharpening easier so you dont have to sharpen all the way down to the ricasso
Isaac Patterson - thanks for the info
Nice job.
very nice
Suuuper!
Brilliant
good looking knife....
I liked the job. I usually heat the blank red hot and then stick it in a bucket of ashes to cool. After i polish the blank, I reheat, watch the colors then quench in used motor oil. Blades made from old files hold an edge, but snap easily and rust badly. I usually cold blue the blade and keep plenty of oil on it. I usually use the thickest files I can find and to lighten and distinguish it somewhat I grind down the handle area in a sharp taper from the beginning of the handle to the end of the handle before I attach slabs of boisdarc, desert iron wood, or deer horn. I find that these materials take a good polish on a buffing wheel.
Good work man, what type of oil do u use for the hardening?
Thanks,I use vegatable oil.
My only issue with this knife is that I would never want to actually use it because it’s so beautiful. Great work!
Parabéns, belo trabalho e feito usando ferramentas simples. Muito bom. gostei muito
What wood is that
I'm not sure, got that piece in firewood.
AVmake okay thanks, I was going to build mine out of fire wood but I live in Alberta where do you live
Either or thanks this helped a lot
I live in Croatia.I don't think we have similar woods but just look for nice piece of hardwood.
AVmake cool thanks. Sorry I’m new. I liked and subbed
Well made. Iwant to try that too.
Music sucks watching something else
Hrdja li??
Nece ako pazis na njega...
Turning the video off 45 seconds in. Would've loved to finish but I hate when someone ruins the beautiful sound of the craft with tacky music
Stop being a snowflake, turn down the volume and watch the rest. You will be rewarded.
That's a great knife, will last a lifetime, basic tools as myself, handle looks nice, what type of wood was it?
Amazing work. Very impressive.
Saludos.
Wow... great work. Looks amazing.
Well done! Beautiful piece!
