Loved that show as a kid. Lots of screaming on that show. West was originally just Stimpy (sounds virtually the same as Fry) but he had to take over as both Ren and Stimpy because John K. had to leave for being a terrible human being. Another moment where my childhood turned into a "love the art, hate the artist" situation.
Its actually really fucking cool to see someone like Billy West give Seth MacFarlane some respect for his work. I'm just so used to everyone saying shit like, "Well, he's no Simpsons guy," or whatever. Its cool to see Seth get some love from a legacy voice actor.

Sort of. Originally, Zapp was going to be voiced by Phil Hartman, but unfortunately he was murdered right before he could. So, West stepped in to take his place, and out of respect for his friend, modeled the voice after Hartman's.
I absolutely loved Futurama the moment it first aired. Hearing John DiMaggio voice Marcus in Gears made me so happy. Bender is great! Oh Bender is great!
We do love commas (and use, them even, more, in Danish, than in, English!), but we're sorry for the confusion! Thumbnail and title changed to avoid potentially misleading anybody!

3:48 I think he ended up doing a robot background character with that kind of voice later on. As an inevitability of having core staff do a bunch of background characters.

I genuinely thought Seth McFarland auditioned for Bender for a sec XD
I was probably less than a minute from the end when I realized that's not what the title meant.
@@furrykef Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla made some good points, but pronouns really do let us down sometimes.

Yeah, that's Ren and Stimpy. That's a whole can of worms he doesn't want to touch.
Exactly what I was gonna say lol
We actually hadn't guessed that - thanks for that piece of trivia!
Was it Stimpy or Ren after they kicked John K out?

Even Billy West's normal speaking voice is iconic. Definitely one of my favorite voice actors ever.

I love this guy, im always happy when I hear him voicing somebody in anything i interact with. I wish he was in more video games.
Ditto! And hey, could we actually please get an open world 'Futurama' game that lets us explore the galaxy on the Old Bessie? :-D
3:48 wait so zapp branagins voice was originally benders voice?
Sort of. Originally, Zapp was going to be voiced by Phil Hartman, but unfortunately he was murdered right before he could. So, West stepped in to take his place, and out of respect for his friend, modeled the voice after Hartman's.
It sounds more throatier and guttural than Zapp’s more smooth and mock-refined voice. They do have a similar deep pitch though.
@@Xanegoh man, that's the first im hearing of that. he would have been a GREAT Zapp.
@@miguelnewmexico8641Really?! Wow. I thought everybody knew. The voice they got for him sounds like an attempt to impersonate Hartman.

Yeah! We've heard talks about a 'Gears' movie for years now, but they've GOT to make it animated, surely, so DiMaggio can reprise his role as Marcus!
Commas are important, guys. Use em.

Billy West kinda sounds like Michael Douglas. I could see him doing an animated Hank Pym.

Fry’s first name is Phillip in honor of Phil Hartman who was supposed to be Zap.
