I am happy for them that they were in an interior courtyard and sheltered from the worst of it.
Absolutely right, true if they were not in a sheltered compound they just might have well more than likely, lost their lives. They were blessed and thank god it wasn't adding such a tragic incident like this as if there wasn't enough tragedy in Lebanon that day as it was that day.
They were shooting during what photographers call the "golden hour" when daylight is redder and softer than when the sun is higher in the sky. It's in this courtyard area surrounded on all four sides by tall buildings that they got the least amount of harsh shadows and, unbeknownst to them, protective shielding from the blast of the explosion.

That’s actually just the sound of the single explosion. The second and larger sound is the shockwave. In a nuclear explosion for example, you would experience both at the same time since the shockwave is moving at around the speed of sound.

It was totally a bomb. Immonium nitrate is used for farming and mining both of which Lebanon has very little of on account of it being such a small land area.

This classic Lebanese beauty, Israa S., was on leave from her endocrinology residency in the U.S. to get married where her and her groom's extensive families could attend. Though shaken, everyone involved was OK, not hurt, so they went on with the ceremony and she plans to continue their plans, her to finish her residency and him to join her later, as I understand.

Death, explosions of this scale, horrific car accidents - are all very, very different when experienced live.

That was truly breathtaking! The purity of the white lace of her gown, the beautiful bride, the camera panning down to the bouquet, and the blast so sudden and deafening; while the train of her dress blows so violently backwards....

What this people experience is beyond words, breathtaking and indescribable :( When an event that is life-threatening happens, your life do not flashes in front or before your eyes. What happens is that in mere fractions of a second, you lost conscious of yourself and became immerse in that specific moment, everything else does not exist. Yeah, noticed it too. But judging by the sound it's probably that the ongoing shock-wave created a lot of disturbance in the air. The explosion already happened at that point but it took some time for the sound to travel to their location.

@Jonathan Parks I was there. The first explosion felt like an earthquake, and about 30 seconds later the sky went red before the giant explosion. He was looking at the red smoke.

I hope that the whole world will help all those people, to find people who are stuck between buildings. To bring them water and food! And shelter, to rebuilt there homes! We have to help them. This is so sad to see :( it breaks my hearth!
I saw on my television, my country, the netherlands. They send people to help within one day! With dogs to find those who are missed! I'm very proud of them! I hope more country's will follow! To find every single kind who's still alive! May god be on your side. My thoughts are now on Beirut😖😢. Please be safe everyone!!!
