Good to see someone stirring the pot on the basics. I tend to twist/roll the cable in my thumb/index finger as I put on each loop so it wants to naturally fall into a circle
I do the over-over thing. Same size loop each time. Cable winds in same continuous direction (as you said) I was taught that a long time ago by the owner of the local music shop in my hometown.
Over-under seems to be the industry standard for event-based AV jobs. Both companies I worked for required everyone to learn it mostly because we were always on a time crunch and having everyone wrap the same way made things more streamline. Honestly I was pretty annoyed by the handful of lazy employees who didn't always abide by it, as it caused numerous micro-headaches over the years lol..
Hey, Gary, thanks for this video. Two questions: First, do you have any preferences on storage of cables? I've got so many cables and so little storage space where all my stuff is. Second, what's that orange pointy guitar hanging on the wall behind your head?

WE used to haze the new guy by telling him his collar was sticking up . . . :o)
Want more engagements on your videos, mess your collar up.

@@alsantangelo in my studio I use shaker style hanging pins hanging them seems to be the best way to keep them organized.
@@alsantangelo I believe the guitar you were looking at is a Charles Fox Dreamcaster. A super rare handmade guitar from the 80s
@@GarysGuitarsUSA I found it on your website, that's a gorgeous shape!
Nonsense, I have never thrown a coble.
Fix your collar.
