Ive been praying for a year for God to help me let go of stuff. My husband got a job offer he couldn't pass up last month so we're moving to Texas to a 2 bdrm apt from a 2000 square foot house so I'm seriously getting rid of stuff. You can never predict how He's gonna answer a prayer. You and a few others have helped me get in the right mindset so now I'm purging with joy. Thank you ❤
Hi Shannon. I am a long time subscriber but this is the first time I’ve commented. I am a 76-year-old grandmother from the gulf coast about 60 miles south of Houston. The things you had to say today really struck a chord with me. We are alike in some ways and different in someways. First of all we are sisters in Christ which is a blessing. I, likeYou, started noticing as a teenager that our house was not like other people’s house. My parents were both hard-working and spent many hours on their job so we just pitched in on the weekend and all of us try to get things back in shape. I never realized that running at home with a job. I had two children by the time I was 20 and I knew that I was to take care of them but I didn’t understand much else about running a home. I made friends with another young mother who totally knew how to run a home. I admired her so much and started copying the things that she did. We are friends to this day and I always tell her that she taught me how to be a housewife. She’s probably somebody that you would’ve called overboard with her cleaning. She had days to clean her baseboards and days to wash her sheets and she never ran out of anything because she always planned and bought things on sale and When one bottle of ketchup ran out she got the other one from the cabinet and then put ketchup on her grocery list. So after that I started being immaculate like her. I prided myself on having a super clean house. You could not look in any cabinet or any drawer and not find it all perfectly in order. Now many years later I have had a whole year of health problems. I cannot keep house like I used to and I have really been beating mySelf up about it. Thank you for reminding me to be kind to myself always and be grateful for what I can still do. Love in Christ
This past fall I spent 10 weeks in bed with a herniated disk. I'm only in my 40s and I have six kids at home ages 20-8. I had to let go of pretty much everything and trust that once my health got better I could keep house again. It's not your fault. You are doing the best you can. I'm praying for friends and family to come around you and fill in the gaps.
Shannon Dear.... Bless your heart for being so real on your channel. I'll soon be 81 and my decluttering journey is still ongoing. There is still some 'stuff' I need to let go of although over the years there has been a huge improvement. Your videos inspire me a lot. You also remind me to turn to God in prayer for help with 'seemingly' inconsequential issues such as decluttering, daily problematic concerns etc. Thank you for you. Fondly, Dorothy.
As I was watching your video, and you mentioned the cleaning lady who was chastising you about your children, and how you were not a good mother, that was a blessing in disguise, as you probably know. I think you’re an awesome lady, and as a Christian woman myself, I share the same values as you do. I never push God on anyone, but I let them know what God has done for me. Blessings.❤❤
DanniRaeArranged recommended your channel last week so I checked your channel out and have been binge watching your channel for the past week and subsequently subscribed. I really enjoy your videos and I love Danni.
Shannon I just wanted to tell you that I had an epiphany about something that you said in one of your recent cleaning videos. You mentioned being mad or hostile about cleaning and no one helping, and instead you found a way to turn that around. It made me find my happiness in cleaning again because I stopped blaming the household and started to just realize that my joy is found in a clean home. I want to work on my home more and it started this week because of you! Thank you friend
I was taught how to clean growing up, but never how to declutter… and I was always being made to clean so I’ve done a horrible job making my kids do it. Mess has always been part of our home as a result. I’ve been working really hard over the past few years to get rid of things and I’m slowly introducing my kids to helping out. I know it’s good for them, but man was it a mental hurdle to get through for me. Love your channel so much!! Thanks for keeping it real!
Happy Friday Shannon! Thanks for your kindness and encouragement. I appreciate all you do. I hope your family is doing well. Enjoy your weekend! Hugs. ❤😊🐦
Shannon you are my bright spark in my day. I am a neat person, everything in its place and a place for everything. My husband is the complete opposite. His messy ways are real triggers for my depression. Which sucks the joy and happiness out of my soul. I tried to clean up after him,but I resent his lack of any effort to change. I am at the point of not cleaning any of his clutter and garbage. Which doesn’t help my mental state at all. I’m gonna be 60 this year and my body and energy level isn’t what it was. I am so thankful for my Better Help counselor, I highly recommend this service. But what I really need is prayer, prayer and more prayer. So if anyone or yourself would add me in, I will truly be blessed. Thank you. Heather 💜
I like a clean home but my husband was a hoarder. The last 1 1/2 he was bedridden and he had everything he owned around him It would drive me crazy!!! He passed away March 13 2024, I really miss his stuff. As far as prayer, maybe instead of praying for him to change, maybe you need to pray for your heart and attitude to change. I’m not trying to be mean or judgement and I hope you take this, how I mean it
I spent my life cleaning - for my single mom growing up and the pressure began because it had to be done well - as a sahm- and even when I Worked full time - the house was cleaned daily and constantly - i became OCD with cleaning- at 50 I developed Lupus - can’t clean like I used to- had to slow it down severely - i had some very sick times- Now I have time for my grandbabies and can say good enough - some days nothing much gets done but I have time and enjoy the simple things- cooking and family - this was my lesson - I wasted too much time trying to be perfection - an illusion - I love your chnnel
I was a housekeeper for a few years. If the homeowner was messy, I considered it job-security! Using a checklist can be very motivational for many women; great job sharing that with your viewers!
I grew up the same way and my husband grew up the opposite. I’m a very neat person but those routine cleaning items, like mopping vacuuming and cleaning the bathrooms weren’t part of my life. When we moved in together every Saturday he wanted us to get up and clean the house and I was like, there’s just 2 of us, it’s not dirty, so that routine went by the wayside. Big mistake! Now 20 years later and we still have no cleaning routine, although we’re both tidy. You’re inspiring me to get my spring cleaning done now!
This video was amazing. I hope you realize how many women you are helping by sharing your personal stories and especially giving all the glory to God! So proud of you♥ That peace that comes only from HIM, just shines in your eyes! This is the message that your kids need to learn from you more than anything else. I'm so happy for you 😘😘🙏
It was nice to hang out with you in your living room. After spending time with our friend Danni. (in her bathroom) 😂😂😂 I have to say Shannon. Your love for God. Is so precious. I love to hear your stories. And, how you acknowledge how you get through tough times. God is the way maker. You are a great Mom and wife.
I'm always so impressed on how you young ladies use your spin mops! I love to watch ladies use them on their walls as well. I've tried using mine on different surfaces with so so results. I usually end up dragging the red plastic part across surfaces. I tell myself "user error"..... Shake my head and just move on.
I’m a new subscriber. Thank-you for all you share and your transparency in regards to your struggles and depression. I have depression, PTSD and am glad to see a fellow believer discussing this issue publicly.
I am a big fan of Danni’s and when she recommended you I came right over to your channel. I am looking forward to getting to “know” you here on RUclips. Blessings.❤❤❤
Hello hun. Love when you post often. Not to mention, I know that you're doing good, or at least ok. I'm happy for you when you're doing well. I enjoyed hearing your stories. You and I are total opposites. I am OCD. Your videos help me with being able to say: it's ok, if something doesn't get done or it doesn't get done perfectly. Thank you for helping me to see that and being in with it. You're an amazing woman hun. Thank you for sharing your unperfect life with us. It helps so many of us to see our unperfect life's are ok. God bless you and your sweet family.
Shannon, I also had to learn how to clean on my own as an adult. RUclips have been a great help for getting my home to be resonably clean and decluttered. We vacuum once a week and that have to be good enough. We both work full time etc. Thanks for sharing your story! That friend wasn’t really your friend though…
Hello Shannon! Thank you for your video! Your words about your faith resonate with me. I am of a different faith, but just like you it is present in my life to a point, that I cannot NEVER mention it or talk about it. It would feel like ignoring a limb. And as much as I have my problems with the Christian faith, I understand where you are coming from and because I do, I never feel uncomfortable - and I feel uncomfortable a lot when it comes to religion. It is a sensitive thing and who wants to hurt other peoples feelings, right? - Apart from that, I always enjoy your content! I admire you sharing your journey and the reality of life not always happening in our favour, with health issues and all. And still you're doing it, and you get back up, and that shows how stubbornly strong you are ❤ sending hugs from Luxembourg 🇱🇺
Amazing how the kids could hide a complete art lesson under that couch 😃 I’m happy you didn’t stick to your friends regiment, Erik was helping you so good because he sees his parents do it and understands the what and whys. But I think it is quite important to compare yourself or your home or whatever to others, it is just without judgement. Not grading who does what, but understand and ask and learn. If you don’t compare and you don’t envy, you don’t know what you want too and can strive for - and maybe ask that friend how they do it?
I've struggled also, and I'm learning along with you that it's daily steps - and it's so much less physically demanding to break big tasks down to daily bites - I've tended to do them all at once and exhausted or actually injure myself - not the best way!
My grandmother, at 17, got married and didn't know how to keep house and had to go to the library and found a book on how to keep house back in 1926. She taught my mom, but my mom didn't teach me.
Ok, am I the only person who thinks Beautiful Shannon looks like Macaulay Culkin (home alone 1)? I think it’s your mouth. You’re just an adorable person! Your kitchen decor inspires me ❤
Lol, it looks yummy. But not sure I will be able to make it for a long while.... Lol. We have this mysterious thing that happens to leftover pizza in our house. It rarely lasts overnight without disappearing.
Thanks for sharing with us. Is your depression more manageable these days? I think your house looks much better than you have shown in the past! Progress, not perfection 👍
What all have you done for your depression? Is there anything specific from the Christian world that's helped you? I saved that book you mentioned in the last video to my Amazon!
I made a point to seek him everyday. I did a lot of prayerful meditation where I would just lay in bed under the covers… talking to him. I laid down everything that was weighing on my heart (relationships, health, unrealistic expectations). I also released myself of the unnecessary burdens I was putting on myself. I came to peace that I wasn’t going to be that ideal I set up for myself as a wife and mother. And then of course, Intentionally looking for the blessings and positives things he put in my path that day because they were ALWAYS there.
I have a idea for you take a picture frame with the glass in it and put the to do list in it then you don't have to keep printing them out and wasting ink and pepper just use dry erase markers and check off what you have gotten done and when all finished just wipe it all off and start over oh and put yours up were the kids can't get to it so they don't wipe it off or write all over it on you and you can make the kids chore lists and do the same put in a picture frame with the glass in it and use a dry erase marker to check off what they did and you can give them money or a small toy or a treat at the end of a week if they got all there chores done just idea's for you my friend dose it and it really helps her
My problem is that I have a hard time just "tidying up." If I vacuum one small spot I end up vacuuming the entire house, the baseboards etc. If I clean up one thing I end up deep cleaning the entire house. I don't know how to work one spot at a time/day 😩😩😩.

Shannon - I always enjoy watching you clean, going from a huge mess to total cleanliness. So inspiring. One note, though - can you correct the checklist? It should be TOILET, not toliet. Spelling counts, especially for a person educating children. Sorry to nitpick.
Im grateful for the correction, not really grateful about the dig at the end. 🥴 My kids are doomed if my ability to educate is dependent on my typos. 😂
Pardon me for thinking that she would want it to be correct. I happen to think that it matters when you are putting out a printable, and thought Shannon would too. I have a right to think so, and you have a right to disagree. But you don't have a right to call people names. You are the one being asinine. This conversation is over.@@lyndaabrahamson3244
Shannon - it wasn't meant to be a dig. I'm sorry if it came across that way. I'll just unsubscribe, since I seem to be offending people by simply trying to help correct an error. I don't need to be made to feel like a bad person by your other viewers.@@LeafLikeOnATree

Always a treat to see your video up and love when you incorporate Bible verses and lessons into your videos I definitely enjoy hearing them
Of course you're special, Shannon! We are all special in our own way.
You are right, we all need to be more gentle/kind to ourselves.♥♥♥
My child hood was chaotic and out of control that I would clean to calm me and now when I get stressed our things feel out of control I clean .

My situation exactly! I clean for my comfort level (very clean) and ignore his “mancave” and table beside the recliner. Best I can do.

Are you kidding me……. You’re a blast! I get so excited when you have a new video ❤
Friends your house is not dirty AT ALL. Its absolute not. Just a regular house that has people living in it. Totally normal and regular ❤
It was nice to hang out with you in your living room. After spending time with our friend Danni. (in her bathroom) 😂😂😂 I have to say Shannon. Your love for God. Is so precious. There is definitely a technique to get the mop flat and not hit it with the red part, but once you got that down that is so much you can do with it.
I always love watching your channel. Welp... I'm off to go declutter a linen closet. Things are starting to fall all over the place.
Happy Easter, Shannon! Can’t wait for your next video.

I’m happy you didn’t stick to your friends regiment, Erik was helping you so good because he sees his parents do it and understands the what and whys.
But I think it is quite important to compare yourself or your home or whatever to others, it is just without judgement. Not grading who does what, but understand and ask and learn. If you don’t compare and you don’t envy, you don’t know what you want too and can strive for - and maybe ask that friend how they do it?

Unsubbed - I got 8ish minutes in. I can't do the religious stuff, but loved watching your channel otherwise. I'll miss your content! ❤
That does make me sad, but I wish you well.
