I used to be an emergency dispatcher, you called 911 and you got me. While on the phone, we would use a foot pedal to talk on the radio. I *STILL* find myself reaching for a foot pedal for push-to-talk engagements online. It's honestly a really nice way to handle PTT if you can use your extremities in that fashion.
I like how a lot of the packaging is paper/cardboard.
I'm an audio transcriber and we all use foot pedals at work (rewind/play/fast forward). The Elgato one looks pretty similar in design to my work pedal, but I'm impressed by the addition of customisable spring weights which we don't have and can be a bit of an issue if you have a lead foot lol. I'd be really interested in using it for push to talk especially, foot pedals are just great for that sort of thing.
I use them the other way around: I activate the Stream Deck with my toes and have the Stream Deck Pedal on my table.

Just got mine last week and I love it. I switch between virtual desktops with left/right (great during calls) and have mute/unmute in the middle.
I was hyped as soon as I saw these were announced. I don’t stream, I’m a designer and windows power user. The idea of attaching shortcuts and macros to pedals is awesome. Been looking for a solid solution for awhile. Elgato releasing these just made a clear cut option.

Don't give me too much credit, I've made my fair share of asshole jokes at the expense of the disabled community. I'm learning and making due on my promise to be better.
As for cable management, I absolutely Love double sided velcro. They're very cheap and reusable. Cut to any length you want. Absolute game change for cable management.

you know what would be cool? if the pedals could be touch sensitive and you could use them like a gas pedal to dynamically zoom your cam in and out.
I think the next step for Elgato is to create a control surface that has analogue controls for things like audio control, key light brightness or scrubbing a timeline in Premier, Resolve etc. Digital buttons just don't work as well for those sorts of functions.

What worrying me about the design is that the pedals are almost stick together. I would rather like if they were detachable it would be perfect as it would also mean that we would be able to add more pedals individually!
Modular design would have been great, but I'm sure even more pricey than they already are.

Pro tip, you don’t have to look down to operate your stream deck. I am a blind content creator, and from my experience, your buttons never move even if you have folders. Memorizing them would be more efficient because you can continue keeping iContact with your audience. It’s about as efficient as having to look down at your keyboard to type.
Disagree, there's plenty of situations where your hands are not available. Definitely not a "necessary" tool but absolutely has its place in my setup.
I use triple pedals currently for gaming and discord PTT, Instantly though 6 pedals would be better!

20 years ago at my last company, we moved away from analogue video tapes and onto digital media. Our journalists used footpedals to shuttle forward and backward on the analogue stuff and a number of other features, so we incoroporated a foot pedal with multiple actions via USB into their desktop environment. Elgato aren't doing anything new or inventive 2 decades later. They might have polished it up, but this tech was around 20 years ago. The cost back then for a foot pedal was less than £100.

Only for the pedals and Corsair keyboards unfortunately. They're necessary because they don't have screens.

So @nuttylmao how are you setting up the generic pedals?
I mean the stream deck pedals are in essence just Elgato branded USB pedals - although I'm sure there's something built in to the Elgato pedals to make sure the stream deck app recognizes them and not the generic pedals, and I'm assuming the app is assigning macros to the Elgato pedals but it can't do anything with the generic ones.
So how are you assigning functions to the generic pedals and how are you using both the Elgato and generic pedals at the same time?
Generic pedals come with software. They act as regular keyboard presses.
Stream Deck Pedals don't use hotkeys. Much better that way.

I think the paddles show, that there is a huge need for if-statements. For example: when I'm in Scene A, the left paddle should do something else than in Scene B. Currently this profiles are app specific, which does not help here.
Yeah there's a lot of potential here.
The Streamer.bot plugin for Stream Deck really opens up the capabilities of the pedals, but it's definitely more of a power user thing than something I'd recommend to every streamer.

It is. It's good but I really wish I just stuck with another G7. Or saved for a different, more versatile camera. Only buy it if you can find it real cheap (they're discontinued though).
