Thanks for stopping by for a view and comment. Chameleon products are modular, so perhaps you could step into things slowly, or add in some other lower cost components.
Another informative video as always. Thanks, Bob, I love Chameleon products, and they seem to come out with more and more of them , but they have difficulty keeping their products in stock. Perhaps they will list them as back in stock once their "Black Friday" sale is over. Allowing for backorders would be great. Can you bend the ears over at Chameleon? 😊
We're trying to keep as much STOCK as possible - but when customers are waiting too long - it's GONE! We make between 200 to 400 units at the same time but they normally sell under 48 hours!
@@HOAHamRadio Thanks. I also posted on their Facebook site and it was a web page error. They fixed that last night but the single extensions are saying out of stock. I posted on Facebook asking about that but have not heard back yet.
I am failing to understand the significance or use case of the CHA Blank or the SS Insulator, and I am hoping someone can explain it to me. I have watched this video twice now, searched the web and Chameleon's website, and still do not understand. What does this give me that my MPAS system does not already have. Can't I just use the insulators that I already have that came with the MPAS and TDL kits? I also have the CHA mast and have just deployed the hub on top of that with excellent performance. Would the CHA Blank improve on that? The spike mount already has a counterpoise system that attaches to the thumb screw on the spike. Is the only reason for the CHA Blank so that you can use the newly released hub instead? Perhaps this is only for the CHA Basic Vertical system, and would not be applicable to the normal CHA setup with the 17' whip and spike mount with the regular insulator? A much more in depth explanation of how these items would be deployed would be greatly appreciated. This makes no sense to me, and there is no documentation outlining this either...at least that I could find. I did read the user guide to the CHA BV. If this is only specific to the BV system, then I guess that makes sense, but Chameleon also talks about it integrating into the MPAS system.
From the user guide "For example, adding a Hybrid Micro or Mini Matching Transformer changes your Basic Vertical to an MPAS Lite broadband vertical." What is the difference between a basic vertical and a broadband vertical?
For POTA or any temp use one wrap of electrical tape would be simple enough to keep a section from dropping in. The guy lines are mainly for stability not to put massive force in the downward direction. If your plan is to have a permanent set up there are other mast options.
@HOAHamRadio I've never had a stainless telescopic whip so didn't know how well they stay out. I only have experience with sotabeams 7m, Spiderbeam 10m and 12m XHD fiberglass.
Maybe a passing mention on their respective power ratings would be greatly appreciated, from memory the micro and mini are about 65% efficient, leading to a power use with a bit of headroom of 250W. Things advance, with every new iteration in quality and hopefully performance too.👍
@Chameleon_Antenna 5:1 binocular core only one person of which we are aware made measurements as a third party. However, In the grand scheme of things, 75% +/- is irrelevant. It works and you get good results, if this figure is incorrect for the Hybrid Mini or Micro please correct me.
@Chameleon_Antenna of course, providing actual loss figures for both the mini and micro would be great and mostly eliminate speculation. The cutesy replies don't help things.
The Chameleon User Guides are incredibly useful..............
Totally agree; they fully explain the subject antenna, then provide additional details that help with various amateur operating topics.
Just need to sell another kidney to afford this..
Tim, I hope you made good use of the funds from the first kidney sale : )
Kicked butt at my last activation. MPAS Vertical at 20', 25' Whip, 2 - 30' radials sloping down. 123 in 4 hours.
This video is giving me some great ideas for a permanent / semi-permanent antenna installation in my new QTH. Thanks!
LEGOS, Lincoln Logs, Erector Set...in antenna form; make what you need.
Makes a great use case for the extensions! Very nice to have options for a tuned antenna
This component set opens up a lot of options; the extensions for the TDL are a no brainer...if you don't already have a mast that can handle it.
your wall of antennas is impressive. im impressed
: ) Running out of room, may have to do an addition.
I can't say I understand all of this, however those components look to be well made.
EXTREMELY well made.
@@HOAHamRadiothey are indeed
amazing setup wish I could afford but totally cool kit to setup how you need or want.

Great video Bob!
Thanks Ammed; gonna take a while to get through all the configuration options.
I'd love to know the inductance of that loading coil.

Thanks @IowaSheepdog for the view. Chameleon does follow comments, and I will be sure to pass this along.
@@HOAHamRadio I don't exclusively use Chameleon. I mix it up with other aerials to keep it interesting

@@Chameleon_Antenna Great quality, high performing, versatile deployment gear in high demand!
@@Philip-KA4KOE Of course, mixing and matching just results in more tools to deploy!
Excellent
Excellent quality just like we've come to expect.
With the medium coil you can use the 25' whip!
Yes! You can also use the FULL CHA MPAS 2.0 on top of it!!
That's on my list of deployments to give a try....
Just tried to order on Chameleon's web site the Blank Adapter and Single extension and kept getting an error page. Are they out of these already ?
Thanks for the heads up. I just checked (8 hours after you comment) the links are now working...but the extension does say sold out.

Something I see wrong with the telescopic masts they offer is how do you guy them without them collapsing downhill down force on the joints?
For POTA or any temp use one wrap of electrical tape would be simple enough to keep a section from dropping in. The guy lines are mainly for stability not to put massive force in the downward direction. If your plan is to have a permanent set up there are other mast options.
Curious which specific telescoping mast you are referring to?
@@HOAHamRadio my comments were made assuming they were referring to the SS17 or the SS25

Good point on the power ratings:
M-Coil - 200W SSB and 100W CW
Blank Adapter - 300W SSB and 200W CW
SS Insulator - NA
Single Ext - NA
More like 75%
All those erroneous efficiency numbers make me laugh!
