    現任東華大學華文文學系教授。有時寫作、畫圖、攝影、旅行、談論文學,副業是文學研究。
    著有散文集《迷蝶誌》、《蝶道》、《家離水邊那麼近》、短篇小說集《本日公休》、《虎爺》、《天橋上的魔術師》,長篇小說《睡眠的航線》、《複眼人》,論文「以書寫解放自然系列」三冊。另編有《臺灣自然寫作選》,並與吳晟合編《溼地‧石化‧島嶼想像》。
    曾四度獲《中國時報》「開卷」年度十大好書、《亞洲週刊》年度十大中文小說、台北國際書展小說大獎,金石堂年度最有影響力的書、博客來華文創作年度之最,《聯合報》小說大獎等等。作品已售出英、美、法、日多國版權。
    Writer, Environmental Activist
    Born in Taipei in 1971, Wu Ming-Yi, full professor in the Department of Sinophone Literatures at the National Dong Hwa University, is a writer specialized in fiction and nature writing.
    His debut novel, Lord Tiger, a compilation of short stories, garnered the United Daily Literary Award in 1997. Three years later, his first nature writing, The Book of Lost Butterflies, received the Taipei Literature Award and was named the Top Ten Books of the Year (2000) by "Central Daily News". Wu's second nature writing, The Dao of Butterflies, published in 2003, received China Times Open Book Award and was further named one of the Ten Most Influential Books of the Year by Kingstone Bookstore.
    In 2011, Wu made his big break with his fourth novel, The Man with the Compound Eyes. Ten months after its publication, Harvill Secker (A London-based subsidiary of Random House) acquired the global English right to the novel. In 2012, Harvill Secker sold the American right to Pantheon Books and Vintage Publishing. Soon after, the French Publishing House, Stock, also acquired the French right. Wu is currently writing a novel, The Bicycle Thief (Working Title). His latest work, The Illusionist on the Skywalk, also published in 2011, is a collection of short stories.

    8:43 把白鷺的栖息的畫面說得好美。
    用審美的眼光來看待大自然,會讓人們產生情感上的連接,從而愛惜生態。
    這或許是自然寫作的重要意義。

    15:24 這是吳明益老師每天站在東華大學圖書館前所拍的照片。
    身為曾經讀過東華的學生,當時並不知道老師在台灣文壇的地位有多高;雖然我也不是華文系的學生,但此時此刻看著影片的我,會因為從無旁聽過吳老師的課成為我一輩子的遺憾......
    將我的青春埋葬,
    也同時將天真的我一起埋葬......
