- The Princess Shuttle (Princess calls it the Princess Transfer) bus is an excellent and very convenient way to travel from the airport to the port for your cruise. In this video, I walk you through how to book the Princess Transfer on the Princess website and how to find out where to get on the Princess shuttle when you arrive at the airport. I also tell you all about why we usually use method of transportation to arrive at the cruise port when we cruise.

Allison-thank you, thank you, thank you! I live between Vancouver and Seattle, and I had no idea! All of this time, we’ve been driving to Vancouver the day before, leaving a car and then driving another car down to Seattle and leaving it there since so many of our cruises start in or stop in Vancouver and vice versa Seattle. Or we’d fly to one or the other port and mind you-we live here! It was insane what we were doing! The train used to take us up at 9 am, but now they leave at 9 pm, arriving at midnight-totally doesn’t work. The greyhound bus leaves at 3 am-who wants to do that? This is such marvelous news-we’re thrilled!

Allison, you are the best in how you provide accurate, detailed information! On one Princess transfer we did from the Rome Airport to the Civitavecchia port (a LONG haul!) our transfer coach bus did break down. We had to wait for over an hour for a replacement bus, but that gave us a chance to meet some of our fellow travelers. AND the ship was anxiously awaiting our arrival after the lengthy delay!

Allison, we have booked a British Isles Cruise in Sept. and wanted to see Stonehenge which the port would be Portland. After investigating further found out that it would be better to go to the later cruise that goes to Liverpool instead of Portland as you get to see Liverpool (North Wales ) plus if you take an excursion at Southhampton on the last day it will take you to see Stonehenge and tour London before taking you to the airport. (one excursion takes you to Heathrow or the other takes you to Gatwick). It costs around $80 for the Princess bus to take you to airport direct or $140 to go on the excursion to Stonehenge and tour London and to the airport of your choice so I think this is a better deal plus you get to see Liverpool as well. Just throwing it out there as others might be interested in doing this as well. Might as well see as much as we can when being there.
I love using the Princess Transfer. They meet you at Baggage Claim and off you go. It is just so convenient, and I don't have to worry about figuring out which berth my ship is in, because the driver already knows.

Allison, that was very helpful. First time Princess traveller. Questions: if I book a princess hotel with points (not through the princess website) can I still get airport-hotel, hotel-port transfers? Also I have a late night flight out of anchorage and wanted to spend the whole day touring. Will the shuttle just leave 3 hours or so prior to my flight or am I subject to leaving say in the morning to accommodate everyone else's flight schedule?
Thanks for the informative video. Can you book the Vancouver to Sea-Tac transfer while on the ship? We will be on Majestic Princess docking in Vancouver and need a transfer to Seattle airport. We will have some Carnival shareholder credits as well as Princess provided credits we like to use against the transfers while we are on board instead of booking pre cruise. So it would be nice if we can book the transfer while on the ship. Thanks for your help.
Good for you in producing this information on Princess Transfer. As much as we've done 10 Princess Cruises so far, and 4 more to come, we haven't always used the Transfer system, but for peace of mind it certainly is a good thing to tell people. We are using the Transfer system for our next two cruises and followed those steps you've mentioned today. One of the tricks is even if you are staying at a hotel a day or so before the cruise, find a airline flight that arrives the day of the cruise, and get to the airport on that day, and find the cruise line transfer person at the airport. They will take you to the cruise port soon after.
@John Stoutley Hi John, That is what we always do too! We always fly in a least 1 day early and always more in most European cities, and then go back to the airport to take the Princess transfer to the port. It has worked smoothly every time. Thank you!

We will be using the transfer from princess cruise ship to Rome airport as we are staying the night at the Hilton by airport and flying out later the following day. Can we depart ship as early as we want to try to get on the earliest shuttle? We hope to do some sight seeing both days.

We are traveling to Alaska on the discovery princess for our first trip to Alaska at the end of August. I was wondering if you could let me know where the priority boarding area is for club class mini suites? Is it inside the terminal or is it outside and help swiftly just that process move we would like to get at the port early to ensure that we are there and among the first in line. We would like to get up to the sanctuary as quickly as possible to work our days that we want there.
I am going on a cruiseNov5 on the Caribbean princess landing in Fort Lauderdale at 9am,was going to take a taxi for the four of us and have been told its about fifteen dollars each,the princess transfers were almost double,28 dollars each one way not so sure its worth that much to go with Princess transfers
Next time in Fort Lauderdale I’m taking a taxi back to airport. Our driver did not speak English. He didn’t have a clue how to get to the airport until someone knew Spanish and told him how to get there. He was a terrible driver I thought he was going to hit someone. We got off at 1st stop and walked to our terminal. Our taxi ride from our hotel to the ship was much better and cheaper.
do you have to fly into an airport to get a transfer? im going to be going on a cruise that im 1 hour away from the port so im not flying in but i live near an airport, if i go to the airport would i be able to use the transfer service to get me to the port?

Do you happen to know - if people on the same booking are flying in to the airport from different locations and at different times, do they have to wait for everyone to arrive at the airport before taking the transfer, or can people take the transfer as they arrive and meet onboard?

I really enjoyed this. What I was hoping is that you would explain Vancouver to Sea-Tac? Does the information say what time you should make your flight after, when you use the shuttle. I would imagine at least after 1pm because of the drive time. Thank you.
We had a cruise that ended in Vancouver in 2017 and used the shuttle to Sea-Tac. It took about 3 hours. There were some people that had flights before 2pm and they barely made it. Our flight was at 4:30 and we felt comfortable with the timing. I would recommend no flight before 2:30-3pm.

Usually, we find a hotel that is close enough to the airport that has a free shuttle to/from the airport. We prefer Hilton/Hampton Inn, since we are a Hilton Honors member. Hi Allison, Even after 55 cruises I am still learning a lot from your website. Well done! I like to use the Princess transfers and they are great, but I am having a problem lately with them. Perhaps you can help me. When returning to the airport the shuttle bus has to park to let the passengers off about a block or two away from the check in point. When I fly I have a wheelchair assistance gate to gate, but when the shuttle lets me off there is not wheel chair assistance from the airline and no one to take my luggage. The traffic people there (I don't know what else to call them) claim it's not their job, the shuttle man just drops the luggage off because he cannot leave the bus to assist me to the gate, and if it wasn't for a fellow lady traveler and her son I could not have made it to the airport check in. This happened in the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. I am traveling to Hawaii on April 4th from LAX. I know it will be ok going, but the problem is coming back from the Princess shuttle in LAX and getting to the LAX check in gate that I am worried about.
@barbara scott Hi Barbara, Thank you for your kind comment. When we were just at the FLL airport they dropped us off further away as well. My understanding it is the problem of where the airport will let them drop off. I am hoping it goes smoothly for you at LAX. I am going to remind everyone in our Let's Go family how important it is that we all keep our eye out for who needs a hand with anything. I am a wheelchair user and Princess allows you to request accessible transfer to and from the airport. You need to request it at least 30 days before your cruise.
I just tried to see the transfers available for my upcoming Princess cruise. Instead of showing me the options and prices, I got this message: "This service can be arranged through your Travel Agent." So I cannot find out the transfer prices ahead of time.
New to the channel. Great information. I have a question, I scheduled my transfers through my TA and when I log into my account the information is under the Itinerary tab but not under the Travel tab. It just says transfers available. Do I need to call Princess to get it added or am I okay as long as it's listed on my itinerary? Thank you.
It should be OK. Just keep a record of it and when you get there and if they don't have you shown, they usually always have room and you can show them your itinerary showing it to be sure. Happy Travels!
Great video! Only thing is what about finding the shuttle from the ship to the airport. We disembark in San Pedro and fly from LAX. We are planning use a Princess Transfer with the hope that it can get us to LAX in time for a 1:45 pm flight. We will have our suitcases with us and plan to get off the ship early. So, where do we find the shuttles at San Pedro port and how do we identify them? Thanks again for great information.
That should be enough time; just request the easiest disembarkation time. They will guide you to the correct bus.

we are going on an Alaska cruise in May 2023 from Seattle with Royal Caribbean. Do you have an information for a bus or shuttle ride from Seattle cruiseport to Vancouver (we plan to fly out of Vancouver instead of Seattle).

@Virgilio Macalinao Hi, You just go to the webpage and I showed in the video and book the transfer, or if it isn't showing up, just call Princess and book it that way. Booking an EZ Air flight is separate from booking a transfer.
I guess you have to book EZair to get access to the transfers. Or maybe it is only the U.S. I live in Canada, booked my own flights, used a travel agent to book the cruise and I cannot book my transfer on their website. It says: Princess offers convenient transportation to and from the ship - usually in the form of a motorcoach or van. This service can be arranged through your Travel Agent.

@Catherine B Hi Catherine, You do not need to book flights with EZ Air to use the Princess transfers. You don't even have to use a flight - you could drive to the airport and take the Princess shuttle to the port of you wanted. As I have mentioned several times, these transfers were not showing up as on option on our cruise online so I just called Princess and booked them. It doesn't matter if you use a travel agent or book on your own, just call and schedule the transfer if it isn't showing as an option where I show you to look online in this video. I know Princess does transfers in Canada - we have used them before. :) I have actually used them in several foreign ports.
I am having a terrible experience with princess transfer right now. I am waiting at LHR for 1.5 hour now and still waiting for the next bus which won't come until 11:30. It will be totally 2.5 hour wait at the airport just for the bus. I believe your experience may varies

Can you book the shuttle on the day of the cruise? I would like to use it as a safety valve....only if my flight is significantly late.
@Erick Field Yes! Just go to baggage claim at the airport and make sure that you are there before the last shuttle goes and tell them you would like to take the transfer and they will put you on! They will add the charge to your ship part account.
I booked air flights with Princess. I cannot find how to schedule a shuttle from the hotel or airport to the cruise and from the cruise to the airport on return. It says to contact my travel agent, but I don't have one and the phone number is not valid

Thank you for all this info. I am flying to YVR 2 nights ahead of cruise and have a transfer to the hotel in Vancouver, but my travel shows no transfer to the ship. Interestingly, google directions shows it's a 2 minute walk from the hotel to the port (course then I'd have to find the ship). Would you recommend not trying to walk from hotel to port?
@bethrocity Walking to the port will be fine. You walk to Canada Place and I think there are signs or people you can ask for directions. I think you have to go downstairs to where customs and security is for cruises. When I went this last time, the uber dropped me off in the parking garage and I dropped off my luggage there.

The Princess Transfer is fine however, you cannot find whether there is a transfer until you have already booked your cruise. I have not been able to find any website, or information regarding those ports that offer this service, until you book. Seems strange. I booked a cruise out of San Pedro, only to find out that the only transfer service is offered from LAX. Too late, already booked Air Flights etc.
I tried to book a transfer for our ez air flights when I review the flight information page at the bottom it shows Transfers can be booked with your travel agent and does not show the drop down that was in the video. Does anyone know if you have to go to ez air(I have waited 4 hours twice to get with ez air) or will the Princess agent you contact through the normal 800 number be able to handle. This is for Rome and I know Allison has and is using the transfer from the Airport.
@Richard Offenbacher Hi Richard, You do not have to talk to EZAir to get the transfer. You can talk to regular customer service at Princess. Does that make sense? Let me know if you need more help.
Thank you for your response. It did work out and was very easy. They even offered a City Center transfer to the port that is only 10 minutes from where we will be staying in Rome. Thanks again.
I cant believe what a horrible experience with princess. Unfortunately, it appears only a few people on staff know that there is an Egan transfer station that you go to load on to the transfer busses. It took me three hours to finally get someone on the line that understood that I was staying the night before and that I wanted to go from Egan and not the airport. The folks going with us tried today and two hours later gave up. I regret booking with princess as they clearly dont know what they are doing.

It depends on the cruise port. There are so many different busing companies that Princess contracts with.
