    You have some mad skills, and attention to detail. Are you a welder by trade? I had the same idea a couple years ago, but couldn't master TIG welding. Looking forward to more of the build.

      Thanks! i am not a welder, i just know how to. this was my first aluminum tig welding project. ive welded lots of steel. A good machine and these 2 channels @PacificArcTigWelding and @TheFabricatorSeries. these guys are fantastic teachers

    Wow! You are an artist. That camper looked awesome. Did you match the color to your truck as it looks like a match ?

      Hey thanks! Yes I did try to match it.

    Awsome work. Not many builders take the time to route and bend the sheet panel to minimize the seams. You have a lot of patience, sir😊.
    Im building a very similar setup. As you pointed out, Im trying to figure out if its worth the time and effort to have that bottom section of the door opening tilt outward for the water shed.
    Its alot more work building the doors with the corresponding angle on the bottom frame instead of using square tube. Time will tell with my little trial and error fabrication which way Ill wind up. LOL
    Thanks for sharing and looking fwd to the finished build and to see you putting it to use

      The acm panel grooving and bending was a ton of work. I would probably do the body the same way if I was to do it again. But the lid I would change. It’s a bit heavier than I wanted. Specially with the solar. I’m working my way to getting it done. And will post another video soon

      @@RedBeerdBuildsAwesome, thank you much for the offer. I might take you up on it😊.
      In the mean time would you mind if I ask what size tubing and angle you're using? I'm currently mocking up the frame in 2x2 wood to get my dimensions figured out. I have not decided on steel or aluminum yet. Or size and thickness. I'm a weekend warrior mig welder, and it would be my 1st project with a spool gun.
      Thanks again

      @@mikes4352 1 1/2 " x .125 6061 tube for the walls. 1"x1" and 1"x2" .065 roof . are you talking angle of walls?

    • @mikes4352
      @mikes4352 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@RedBeerdBuilds I haven't decided if I was going to angle the walls. I think it does look much nicer. I just wasn't sure how much more complicated I wanted to make it 😁
      Thanks for the material dimensions. Those numbers seem to be about the norm for aluminum frames

    Have you thought about doing a steel frame?
    How much more would the weight be?

    • @RedBeerdBuilds
      @RedBeerdBuilds  Месяц назад +2

      I definitely debated it. Steel is like 2lbs per foot and aluminum is under 1 lb. Steel would probably add 200-300 lbs. Much much easier to weld though.

    Sweet. I can't wait to see your finished product. I'm curious what type of panels you used for insulation and the R Value? I have a Moonlander topper camper and I'd like to insulated as its similar to what you've built minus flip up portion. Thanks for the video again. I've become a subscriber.

    • @RedBeerdBuilds
      @RedBeerdBuilds  4 месяца назад

      thanks, I used Sika Rmax Pro Select Polyiso Insulation Board. its r6 with 1 inch, im also using a upholstered panel over the walls that has roughly an r2 value. that being said its a canvas tent. I would need an insulated cover over the tent material for real insulation.
