- For all those who are in need of respite from the cold, ice and snow...a little breath of Spring in the midst of Winter courtesy of Franz Schubert. Schubert therapy, I call it. Good for what ails you.
Frühlingsglaube
Die linden Lüfte sind erwacht,
Sie säuseln und weben Tag und Nacht,
Sie schaffen an allen Enden.
O frischer Duft, o neuer Klang!
Nun, armes Herze, sei nicht bang!
Nun muß sich alles, alles wenden.
Die Welt wird schöner mit jedem Tag,
Man weiß nicht, was noch werden mag,
Das Blühen will nicht enden;
Es blüht das fernste, tiefste Tal:
Nun, armes Herz, vergiß der Qual!
Nun muß sich alles, alles wenden.
Johann Ludwig Uhland (1787-1862)
Faith in Spring
The gentle breezes have awakened,
They whisper and float day and night,
They create on all sides.
O fresh fragrance, o new sound!
Now, poor heart, be not afraid!
Now all, all must change.
The world becomes more beautiful with every day,
No one knows, what may become,
The blossoming will not end;
It blooms in the farthest, deepest valley:
Now, poor heart, forget thy pain!
Now all, all must change.

What a perfect presentation of Schubert's beautiful song! The singer, the images, the lyrics and translations... thank you kindly, it's just what I needed today.
Your videos accompany the music so beautifully.
Absolutely beautiful. Fischer-Dieskau is truly one of the best baritones I have ever heard. Amazing rendition of this difficult piece.
Karen, Is this heaven or what??! Thank uuuuu -b xx
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Love Schubert Lieder especially by this singer and Gundula Janowitz.

This is very touching heart!
Sheer perfection. What a sublimely wonderful singer, and particularly of Lieder, this man was. You can hear the artist in his singing, how he used different shades to paint a vocal landscape. Something for all singers to aim at.
What a beautiful video coupled with a beautiful rendition! I have been looking for the right song to sing later this month during the Liberation Day ceremonies at the site of the Ravensbrueck concentration camp. This may be just the song. BTW, the Valley photo, which I also have, came to me via email, labeled "Carizzo plain - Temblor Mts. near B..." and there the title runs out. :)
Все будет хорошо!
I'm glad that it helped. Good luck with that competition.
@cayk3000
The singer is the great baritone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Credits are at the beginning of the video and also in the comment section.
We are in the middle of a heatwave and this beautiful music has cooled me down, magical , many thanks.
I'm glad it could warm you up for a bit. :)

have you heard about the brazilian music of Carlos Gomes - II Guarany ?
it´s a beautiful song.
Not a painting but a photo I found on the web. Sorry but I couldn't find out the location. I would love to know where this beautiful place is.
Whose painting is it when he sings 'Es blüht das fernste, tiefste Tal '?
Do you know of a recording please that is available on you tube in F major. Thanks

I smell the sap. :)
Three years late but I am curious if this is a reference to the Glass Bead Game?
It has to be.
