  • FOUNDRY is a first-person factory building simulation set in an endless procedurally generated voxel world. While you start small by crafting your first items and machines by hand, you will soon find yourself surrounded by a large sci-fi factory doing the work for you. You need to expand your factory by building more production lines, conveyor belts and pipes while keeping a stable power supply for your growing energy demands.     The freight elevators do dig all the way down, it just takes some time if you are down a ways.

      Because the top freight was placed 1st it was digging down. If you add the bottom elevators then the cap it digs up. Same with the other elevators.

    Seeing one of the best factory game players I know do a lot of the things I do is...relatable. Moving an entire setup two tiles over because it lines up better, accidentally flooding the base, and so on. And even though it's time consuming, watching the rebounds from mistakes we all make is a big reason I like this series on YT. Because one whoosh and explanation later it's business as usual. ^^ Glad to see this series continuing!

    I sure hope this goes to a mega base series. The ending researches are unlimited. And the firmarlite stuff is also scalable.

    For the end of your series, I would like for you to make the ultimate ore processing and component manufacturing facilities using all the highest tier machinery you unlock for the assembly lines. Something I’m looking forward too seeing at the end is to build these massive blast furnaces and hot air stoves to smelt massive loads of xenoferrite, technum, steel, and other raw materials at once.

      I also attempted to ride the transport ship up to the space station. It doesn’t go all the way up. ☹️. It only goes to el 375m, then comes back down

    One thing with the Cargo ships in this game is that they don't really buffer. As in they won't be loading the next load until the ship gets back.
    So you probably want to stick logistics containers on either end so the ship can unload relatively quickly, and more importantly, so its next load is waiting when it gets back. Otherwise you're factory town will be idle while the ship is flying, and then it will only load the ship at the rate of production.

      Even so, you are still bottlenecked by the belts between the storage and the cargo bay. One way to overcome this is to build a lot of belts there, although the utility of this is questionable. Now, if you are consuming at a much lower rate than the belts supply, then a simple storage system is enough. Otherwise, buffering will require a lot of belt capacity between the chests and the load/unload process

    I had a deposit in the middle of a lake; made a coffer dam to drop the elevators thru.
    Can either use blocks then remove center, or dig up lots of dirt and fill in with that and let elevators dig out for you.

    Couple tips for the cargo ships:
    1) Build two start pads for each target pads. It allows a ship to be loading while the other is offloading.
    2). Build storage at pad on loading / offloading with 4 lanes of the highest speed belts you have. Reduces loading time.
    3) Build the ship pads at elevation 242 instead of on the ground, and use freight elevators to lower your resources.
    4) Also build transport pads and construction ship pads at elevation to reduce vertical travel time
    5) Locate the spot where the transport ships “go to space”, and build your request warehouse under it at elevation. Doing this with 2 or 3 transport pads will drastically increase firmarlite thru put
    Building ship stuff at elevation also frees up a huge amount of space on the ground for other buildings, and reduces the space you “lose” due to restricted un-buildable airspace over the pads

      Those are interesting tips! The plane itself feels like it goes too slow... Ultimately, you need to have 3 pads just for one line and even then it may not even give you enough throughput in the end. I hope they make changes to that or give us trains.

    Nice movie, keep up the good work. The level of the elevator when you get down the line is your level witch you can see in your upper left compass - the Height is constantly changes according to your character elevation.

    The underground mining and large buildings really set this game apart from the others. I have been enjoying the series and building along or a bit ahead. So I really liked the short explanation in the beginning so that I can check how I can improve on my own designs :)

    0:35 It kiiiiinda do something. It increases the size of a single transaction you can make. There's a hard limit on how many drones you may send to the station before they are sold. You probably won't hit that cap when you make only 20-30 drones a minute or less, but it's there. Probably will have effect on selling robots too. Hopefully they'll cost more than 5 firmalite each. -_- That Firmalite Sheet recipe feels like a ransom!
    27:12 Well, this was painful to watch. XD Personally, I'd build a storage below and move everything down there. Yes, in multiple trips. I know there's plenty more and it's not really worth it, but it feels wrong to delete resources in a game with "finite" resources.
    BTW, these cargo ships don't have any internal buffer in the landing pads. They load and unload directly. That's rather inconvenient when you want to bring a couple belts of ore. I've tried to bring 3 full 320 belts and this doesn't work well even on a relatively short distance (and looks like spaghetti monster). I made a large storage on both ends and connected it with 8 640 belts and it still had some downtime.

    I missed out on using the elevators early on in mine because I didn't realize they dug the hole themselves... No that I am messing with the BIG ore nodes I really love them though.

    Can you ride in the back of the cargo ship? It kinda looks like you can with that rear ramp that opened up while it is landed.

    I'm looking forward to trains. I'm curious which side of the cargo transports it will be on. I feel like they could put them before, with lower tech requirements; then buff the flying transports. I want like giant Star Wars level transports.

    I really enjoyed fortresscraft even though it was half baked. There is absolutely a niche for a game like foundry in between factorio and satisfactory. Reminds me of where these games all started, ic2 mod for Minecraft.

      My general base is above ground, but I’ve dug out a layer underneath about 12 down for a sorting / recycle system to redistribute stuff I don’t want in inventory any more , fed from a large drop off container

    Just place elevators, let them free the way down and replace them with resource lifts after that :)
