You've been swell to go around And bring me every single brain in town But with all these brains, I can't help but think That there isn't one left out there to drink. Now fess up, boy, come on, heck! Is there someone that you're trying to protect? Bring her down here to meet her end And I promise I'll be your bestest friend. Brains, brains, I won't lie, I'll eat her brains 'til she's zombified. @@gigglesigh6022 indeed. The worst creature I've seen on the entire planet. Humans are greedy, and only in it for themselves, though you could say there are decent people they still have some of the same thoughts.
My biggest issue with the Lucifer story stems from the claim that humanity was unique in that we had free will. Angels were not supposed to have free will... so how would Lucifer rebel if he didn’t possess the ability to do so?
He wasn’t an angel, he was a Jinn Jinn are made of fire and angels are made of light Angels don’t have free will but Jinn, like humans, do have it which is why he squandered that for his own personal gain
My "headcannon" - yes, I have mythology headcannons - for this thing is really simple: angels do have free will. They are just so scared and manipulated that most of them don't use it. Lucifer just happened to be the best angel, the one who ignored all that and told himself: "Could we, us, angels, live freely?" And told himself that, if someone was starting a revolution, it was him.
So basically angels are supposed to be sheeple. Complacent sheeple with no free will. Don't be a sheep. Don't follow the crowd. Have your own mind. Stop being complacent sheep. They surrender their free will and become a flock of mindless sheeple. Don't drink the Kool-Aid. Don't be a sheeple.
I haven’t seen many people mention this, so I might as well. This song has always given me the impression that the singer (satan, in this case) is unable to tell the difference between right and wrong, like a child (i.e: the “if I were a big boy, I wouldn’t cry” lines). It’s a pretty effective metaphor considering humans are the only creatures with free will and the knowledge of good and evil in the Bible, It would make sense that Lucifer would have a fundamental misunderstanding of it. I’ve seen many people in the comment section say he is comparing himself to humanity scornfully (“look how pathetic and sad I am I’m like a human!”) but I think the song sounds more so empowering, with lines like “I’m almost me” it seems that despite humans being inherently pathetic compared to angels and demons they have free will and individuality, something Lucifer envies.

@@DutchGotAPlan "Satan" is a Hebrew word meaning "accuser" or "prosecutor". He was created for one purpose; to oppose the Abrahamic God while still loving Him. It's an incredibly fucked existence.
I take it more as him being disingenuous to decive humans. He's lying by omission by saying he's almost human, leaving out the fact that angels are not human in that they make no honest mistakes because they aren't flawed. He's framing his situation as him making a mistake and being punished unfairly because of it. He knew exactly what he was doing, though.
I feel like this is what a lot of people forget about Christianity. I dont so much think this is "worshipping Satan" as it is describing the religion that was built. Satan was an angel who fell. The biggest sinner, yes. But also the most exiled being in existance. Unloved, uncared for, feared, and alone. A rejected child. All in their most absolute forms. And well... Thats really depressing to think about. When we think about God, we tend to think mightiness and power above all else. But maybe... When we think about the Devil we should think about loneliness, rejection, and fear.

"But who prays for Satan? Who, in eighteen centuries, has had the common humanity to pray for the one sinner that needed it most, our one fellow and brother who most needed a friend yet had not a single one, the one sinner among us all who had the highest and clearest right to every Christian's daily and nightly prayers, for the plain and unassailable reason that his was the first and greatest need, he being among sinners the supremest?" - Mark Twain
+Onden Bern ...Technically, I don't think Satanists pray _for_ Satan as much as they pray _to_ him... And even that might be questionable, given the teachings of Satanism. It'd likely be more accurate to say that Satanists pray to and for themselves.
Onden Bern From my understanding, the majority of satanists - such as the Church of Satan - don't actually believe in the devil as they don't believe in god. They are basically atheists who like a bit of pomp and circumstance - and like to tweak the religious people a bit. They believe in the power of the self.
DarkBangle i can't remember the name of the book but theres a bit where Levay details how his presence causes thoughs arond him to panic in fear and thoughs who where slightly religious are grabbing crosses, garbing themselves with them. its brilliant and funny read
I see some people in the comments saying that this is bashing on religion. This is actually pointing out Human nature. The devil comparing himself to human beings (the creatures he hates more than anything by the way) and at the end also describing himself "I'm just like you. Better than He. Despised by They. To the Core I'm mean." And "I'm jealousy, I'm spite and hate." He's saying mankind always tries to justify their own evil like the Devil is doing. Justifying their jealousy, hate and spite, their pride. Saying The Devil is almost like a human being.
I always pictured this as the devil trying to gain sympathy from man by victimizing himself and then attempting to make us identify with his "plight" by telling us he is "just like us." If we extend it to an allegorical music play, there is no shortage of people who also pose as victims and say "Come on, help me out, we are practically family, you and I!"
This song asks a good question. "Is it really such a crime for an angel to speak his mind?" Because that's what Lucifer was punished for. He, out of all the angels, questioned God.
Do you know the questions he ask and was he cast out just for questioning and can you tell me your source if possible. ( I legit want to know) please and thank you.
He didn’t question god, in my religion (islam) god commands the angels to kneel to adam and Lucifer refuses and say that he’s made of dirt and l am made from fire hence l am better then him. In conclusion he was punished for his pride. Which is the biggest of all sins.
@@cruelllangelll Tfw you fight with your bro and your dad gets the belt of eternal damnation. Giving him more reasons to be hateful fixes that problem right up!
@@Fasttony64 There's lot a theories and stories which vary across religions. Some say Lucifer is just a scapegoat who was punished to quell an angel rebellion, while others say he lead the rebellion and tried to overthrow god. In others, he was punished for pride, and I think there was even something about envy once. Religion speaks in too many riddles to be certain, lol. Personally, I don't love or hate the guy. If angels really are being treated like slaves, then I completely support an angel rebellion. They deserve to speak their minds, make mistakes, and argue, like all of us do. Don't give feelings to creatures you want to treat like robots, cuz that's just cruel,
Note that in the Bible, humanity supposedly loves god, but they love him out of fear, god is even mad when Cain doesn't fear him with his offering. The angels supposedly love god, but they have to, they couldn't think otherwise even if they wanted to because they lack free will. Only one being is able to truly love god, and that's Satan, the man who hates god the most. Which explains why god is so obsessed with "forming a relationship" with humanity. He just wants to be loved.
Michael Williams Seriously. He was so arrogant he created two species just to worship him and stroke his ego, and yet he has the audacity to claim to be perfect and complain when Satan or humans have pride? The God of the Bible is a ridiculous thing.
@@ZaltheMask Well, I found out that Cain is actually Lilith and Samael's son, the Hell Mother and Grim Reaper. So maybe God "chose" Cain to try and keep Cain on the path of loving him?
He committed a singular sin of pride and was forever cast down to hell, facing the punishment of once being amongst the beauty of heaven and knowing he shall never return. Were he any other sinner we would pray for him. As he is the first sinner we pray he is tormented even more.
+Nathan Deaton would you let a guy back in your kingdom if he tried to usurp you? Would you let that same guy stay with the same creatures you just made that he hates who would be powerless to stop him? no. You'd put him somewhere where he would do minimal harm. Sure we can pray for him all we want but let me ask you this. Did he ever apologize? Did he ever repent? Did he ever stop conspiring against god and tormenting humans? no. No he didn't. All god asks of people in the bible is that they apologize and feel sorry for the things they've done. The only thing he's sorry about is that he lost
+Dreamer511 ah yes, I forgot the multitudes of chapters and sections describing how Lucifer refused to repent and merely demanded of God he be returned. Except there aren't any. We don't see the devil repenting but we don't see much of him, and when we do it's supposedly one thousand years after being bound in chains in Hell. Who's to say he didn't beg forgiveness for the first five hundred and then realized that God didn't care anymore? I'm sure that if there's a hell it's filled with people begging forgiveness right now. But according to God apparently nothing cast from heaven for any reason may return.
+caphalor08 Until you realize that he has completely missed the point. "I'm almost as evil, vile, cruel, vicious, and despicable as they are! Why am I not loved?"
Lord Audino Yes, but he also thinks that the correct answer to not being loved is to become even worse. He doesn't get that humanity is loved because they try to be more like Jesus, even if they stumble and falter along the way.
By angel standards, Lucifer is like a teenager. He doesn't know any better, he's basically a scared little boy. Just confused, so he believes that what he is doing is necessary and is okay.
It occurs to me that most current views on Lucifer are based on a single line from Paradise Lost, "Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven." But doesn't the Bible agree more with Dante's _Inferno_ which points out Hell was made *specifically* to make Lucifer and his fallen angels miserable? He doesn't rule Hell, he's prisoner #00001.
Lets consider the fact that both Paradise Lost and Dante's Inferno (i know that's not the name of the book), are not cannonical, its more an interpretetion from the reader.
Poor Lucy. (i hope nobody minds that i called him that) He was the angel of light. Light symbolizes knowledge, life, protection, loyalty, and purity. And now he's trapped in a world where everything's either on fire or smells like rotting flesh.
Nicholas Bussard he didn't point out flaws; he chose not to bow to Adam and proclaimed that he was better than humans. And war is nothing new to celestial beings. It happens all the time in every pantheon at some point. Lucifer just couldn't rally enough of theirs to win. It's hard to match the power of the king of heaven. He may have won if Michael had been his ally; they were the strongest of the angels after all.
Thepage Ofheart I'm sorry, but its is literally impossible to overcome the Christian God. He has unlimited power. Every angel in heaven could turn against him and God would still beat them effortlessly.
Thepage Ofheart God's origins? The uncreated creator of all of existence? Most powerful being ever? Or do you mean Lucficer, a single angel created by God?
Paarthunax 2 I mean God. And he has a name, ya know. In some sects he was known as Yahweh, in others he was called Jehova. Islam has many titles for him, though they simply call him Allah, which means "god", not unlike the old Hebrew word Baal which means "lord". Judaism was once a polytheistic religion, with many gods with varying personalities. The one who dominated was Yahweh, the god of battle and of crops similar to Mars in Rome. At first his followers were tolerant of their neighbors, but they eventually grew to hate them for not worshiping their preferred deity and began their expansive crusade to transform Judaism into a monotheistic society. So Yahweh is undoubtedly the strongest of his pantheon, obfuscating his rivals until they were eventually forgotten (which for a deity is the equivalent of death).
I like the evil alien race theory, and bad guy god ones. But yesterday, my mom was hearing music, and she quoted: Theres no devil, only God when he's drunk. It just felt relevant to your comment
Here's a disturbing thought: Adam and Eve sinned by eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. It says that when they ate the fruit, they knew good and evil and were expelled from Paradise as a result. Lucifer, an angel, never ate the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. Angels are allowed in Heaven because they don't have sin in their hearts, but if sin comes from knowing the difference between right and wrong and being able to do wrong, where did the Devil get that knowledge from, let alone the ability? Perhaps Lucifer's rebellion was engineered from the beginning by God, who created him with the ability to rebel for the explicit purpose of having a fall guy to toss into Hell. Perhaps Lucifer is unable to control or comprehend his actions. Like a dog, perhaps he has no real sense of right and wrong and only knows that he's being punished by his master, perhaps merely for acting in the way his master created him to act. Imagine being in the Devil's position, not knowing why you're cast out of Heaven or why your creator is mad at you, only knowing that you were and that now you're in the eternal position of the heel in God's cosmic wrestling match.
ometta7 the joker and I are impressed with your theory but we have to tell you he doesn’t question why he expected and now all he can do is sit there laughing and crying begging for attention because he knows he’s the bad guy but that doesn’t mean he’s the baddest guy because if he was then the worst thing you can do is question god and we all know there is far more evil in this world so do him a favor and laugh right alongside him we do and it’s helped us se the punchline
I can’t for the life of me tell whether “Pity me, I’m almost a human being” means he’s deserving of pity because of his humanity or because of his lack of it. Or whether he’d be better off on either extreme but just not in the middle. And I don’t want to know because the mystery is cool.
This is the first song that shows pity to the most bashed, put-down, and hurt creature in biblical times. Or, in the least, that I've found. King James ruined him when he rewrote the Bible. Can I just say that I'm more sympathetic to Lucifer than Jesus when reading the Holy Bible (something that I don't do very often)? Something about him seems more appealing (and possibly more realistic) about him. As someone else said, he despises humans and is comparing himself to them, trying to justify his jealousy and more just as they do. There's so much about him that makes me realize that the evil in the world had existed for so long. I'm happy that this song exists, personally. And, hopefully, I'm not attacked by a religious nut and called things I'm not.
+Anything But Mad Yes, and if you think about it, he killed far less people than God, if he even killed anyone at all. When I view from an impartial standpoint (as a non believer) he really does come off as easier to relate to.
The Ouchiegiver Well, he has a right to hate us. As we've done all of the bad things he's done, yet we still get multiple chances at redemption when he gets none at all and has been made the mascot of evil in the Bible.
There's also the version where Lucifer wanted the humans have knowledge. I think this one would make him look like a good guy, and that's not what the church wants. The Bible basically teaches us to not question and that's annoys me as fuck. I mean, when the angel of light decided to think for himself he got banned from heaven and became Satan - the moral is, don't question the way the society you live works(?).
I know this comment is almost one year old but, I always came to that conclusion, Lucifer is the Bringer of Light, as far I know the term "Light" is always used to unveil things "to give knowledge" "to enlight people" to fight the "darkness" (ignorance) giving "Light" (knowledge, self-awareness). The original sin, when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit tells us that, they didn't have self-awareness until they ate it. God is kind of a dick, Adam and Eve were innocent, childlike and curious by nature, they didn't know evil or danger and for that, they should not be held accountable for their actions. As with kids, if you leave a loaded gun in an unlocked drawer and you tell your kid to not play with it, he will do it as he is curious and simply aren't mature or have experienced enough to know. so if the kid grabs the gun and kills his sister playing with it, who is responsible? Almost damn everyone will say "the parents" because they left something dangerous at their reach, this is pretty much the same, God gave the order but didn't do anything else to actually stop them, or to stop the serpent (the devil or whoever) before he tricks them into eating it. Is like being a parent and see a dealer approach your kids to sell them drugs and just sit there and watch while they get high. He didn't even warn them "like oh btw, if you see a talking snek pls don't listen to it, pretty much because snek can't talk and is probably your divine cousin trying to get you in trouble". So what were the consequences of eating the fruit, self-awareness, they became aware of themselves, they nakedness for me this represents they weaknesses and vulnerability, they were able to think for themselves, religious people say that they had free will and as they decided to disobey God they deserved to be cast away from Eden, but does free will really matter and is even real if you are not self-aware? how can you expect someone to be aware of danger and wrongdoings if they are not aware of themselves? the kid from the previous example also has free will and yet he is not held responsible. If Lucifer was jealous of humans because God loved them because no matter what they did wrong it wasn't their fault because they were not self-aware but Lucifer was self-aware and punishable for his mistakes, as I interpreted Lucifer wanted forgiveness for his mistakes too, as he was not perfect either but yet better than humans. So Lucifer went to Eden, make them eat the fruit, gave them self-aware which God didn't want them to have 'cause this makes them responsible for their actions, also giving the ability to defy authority and think for themselves just as Lucifer, he brought us light. The same light that I see many religious people are so proud of because they think it was God who have us that to reign over other creatures to feed on their egos (which is one of the they deny evolution because they think it belittles their existance)
I'm not gonna explain why I say this as it would take an extreme amount of time. But God is an asshole in my eyes, I vow to kill him if I ever saw him. He betrayed me so I betrayed him. I'd rather choose Satan's side. There has also been other beliefs of religion so technically Satan and God are brothers so yes Satan's does rule hell and no Satan is not a prisoner. Think about it this way, If God casted out Satan, do you really think Satan would just sit there. No Satan would decided "hey if he can have his own place and creation then why can't I?". If you were cast out of a place you would get the idea to create it better and this way you are in charge. Satan is ruler of hell God is ruler of heaven technically since all the humans are on the round and not in the sky and almost human loves God, Devils do not come from the ground, they come from the sky. Anyhow I personally hate God, so this I created my own Gods. Everyone has their own ways and own beliefs. the world needs to realise that and accept it or else you're all gonna kill each other for nothing.
Yknow, Lucifer is literally the most relatable angel ever towards humans even if he is a fallen one. He was cast out, shunned And even imprisoned and just disowned by his dad to his favorite son, and effectively demonized for all eternity because of his own beliefs. And apparently just for speaking his mind, Which can be seen as rebellion by parents mostly when their dealing with a teenager. Which shows that even angels can fall under the "Not everyone's perfect saying."
I get this song is about the Devil but I'm out here connecting it to Frankenstein's Monster; a creature made to be a crowning scientific achievement abandoned by its creator for nothing more then looking wrong.
@@Defenselessdamselindistress69 eh not really if you look at the lyrics, Frankenstein was an innocent creature, Satans own choices led him to his fall from grace.
Do we even know Lucifer's side of the story? Even if the decision was God's, and by all accounts from my Religious friends, God is perfect. But I have to question, if we were made in His image, why didn't he make us perfect like him and same for the angels. If I have my facts straight, (and please tell me if I don't) He can change reality by thinking it. So why doesn't he make Lucifer good (or at least change his mind)? Angels don't have the free will thing, do they?
Lazurus Beta god doesn't want us to make us perfect because he is testing us to see who goes to heaven or who goes to hell if we were all perfect it will be boring to him. and he won't change Satan to good because he needs the hell and the devil to be bad because that's were all the evil people go, to hell and I could care less about Satan he did to himself
Lazurus Beta Or maybe god doesn't conform to your understanding of good or evil. He's beyond what we would perceive as morality and as we are to do we try to humanize him. He wouldn't have created us as perfect because we would not have any room to grow. Making something wholly perfect makes it pointless to even create it in the first place because nothing improves on it. Imagine a artist that makes the perfect art. A masterpiece every time ever since he was born. What would be the purpose of making his art. Sure he could sell it and wouldn't have a problem with doing so and, that's the issue. The art wouldn't mean anything to him. He would have no struggle no attempt to improve himself. Making art to him is like walking to us. We do not praise every step we take as a challenge because it's second nature to us. And in infancy walking meant something because we were actually accomplishing something. God would be no problem with making perfect organisms but he would get nothing out of it. He could set the entire universe on easy mode but it would mean nothing to him because what He's created has no value other than being there. The way to challenge himself would be to create an imperfect existence for the beings He's created so that they may have the chance to improve. If they do good they get rewarded in the end. If they don't, well he has to set an example somehow and who knows maybe the punishment is exaggerated. But he is not without mercy. He will make a belief to push this race to the right direction. But He can't make it that simple. So he makes a couple other faiths to go along to see which ones are the closest to correct. They don't have to be spot on, just close. I hope my answer helped you in some way, and if you disagree I'm fine with that just putting in my two cents. With love, Yipkin.
To answer your first question, yes, we do: songs like these and other means that Satan uses to evoke pity to his side (disclaimer: not to say that the artist himself is directly in league with Satan or is literally acting as "the devil's advocate"). However, according to Jesus, when Satan/Lucifer "lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies" (John 8:44). Whatever message Satan spreads on his behalf can't be trusted, therefore, neither can his testimony. (If you want accounts of Satan from God's side of the story, turn to Job 1-2, Isaiah 14:12-20, Matthew 4:1-11, Luke 4:1-13, Luke 22: 3, John 13:2, Revelation 12:1-17.) Another thing to bear in mind is that as much as Satan claims to be "almost" human, he's not; he's a fallen angel. We were made in God's image; he does everything in his power to mar that image. To answer your second question, God did make us perfect in the Garden of Eden, before a serpent planted an idea in Adam and Eve's minds to be equal to God by having knowledge like Him of not just good things, but evil things as well (Genesis 2-3). God could very well remake us perfect or Lucifer good if He wanted to; and really, it would be a great idea, wouldn't it? To not have to worry about hurting other people or wanting to do anything wrong. But then we would be like robots; preprogrammed to do nothing wrong or always follow one set of rules. Those who have played dating sims know that the character on the screen can't really love them; they are programmed to be affectionate, but it's not real and the sim didn't choose to be with the player of their free will. God wanted us to have a free will, to be able to choose whether if we wanted Him or not. That's why the Garden of Eden had both a Tree of Life and a Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. If He forced us to comply, it would make Him a tyrant bent on control, not a king who cares about the feelings of his subjects. The Bible doesn't directly say whether or not God hates or loves Satan, but personally, I believe that God still does love him, but because Satan created sin and is the nature of sin, and sin cannot be in God's presence, Satan must remain apart from Him. I'm not too sure if angels do have a free will or not (there isn't an account from the Bible stating a demon repenting and returning to heaven); it seems more likely that they don't. Also, if God could change Satan's mind, I'm sure He would. It's Satan who refuses to change. Ever hear of Satan sincerely apologizing for the dirty work he does? Ultimately, Satan got himself kicked out of heaven and no one else but himself to blame. So he points fingers at God, connived Adam and Eve into sabotaging the future of creation, and has been dead set against God ever since. Hope that answers your questions. Be sure to research into this topic for yourself; it might surprise you what you'll find out. God bless!
All rights and wrongs aside, I like to think the downfall of Lucifer was necessary, since sin and Lucifer himself ultimately offer people choices along the course of their lives. Regardless of what may be right or wrong, it's the person's choice to make rather than the ideal existence it appeared God was crafting in which no choice would be offered. So, those with a more 'pure' lifestyle can spend the rest of eternity with other repentful folk while those that took a sinful approach can stick with people like themselves as well. I mean, they're being sent there for making choices that favor Lucifer's ideals, so why would he punish them once they arrived? Hell strikes me as the kind of place where the Devil himself greets you at the door and directs you to the buffet line, you know? I like to think of the guy as someone that understands the way things really are and might see the souls that get sent his way as his friends or children of his own to care and feel for.
projectalias You do realize God as he is depicted in the Bible has done WAY worse things, right? Like killing almost everything on the planet. And punishing creatures for something he knew they would do long before he ever created them (you know, what with being omniscient and all), and which they only did because he created them that way. If he wanted obedient servants, just create kebdient servants, don't give them free will, try and get them to choose to serve you and then get all pissy and torture-happy when they choose not to. Not to mention the fact that, as they say, history is written by the victors, and tell me when was the last time you read a holy book describing Satan that wasn't written by somebody whom was his sworn enemy?
AL Smith there are things in your comment i agree with and others that i am confused about so i'll just say this i think the down fall of Lucifer was necessary regardless of if he was right or not because like you said it gave mankind choices and ultimately that is a test of god, people making their own choices, now if the world was made so everyone was living the "ideal existence" of being absolutely perfect and not making your own choices then it wouldn't really be a test and we would all be dumb sheep, holy and pure sheep but still dumb sheep, have you ever had to deal with dumb sheep before? its terrible, they get their heads stuck in fences all the time and all they have to do to get themselves out is just turn their heads but they don't because they don't realize it because they are dumb sheep and its frustrating as hell. No one likes dumb sheep i don't think god would either.
I think the Devil would still kick the burning shit out of those that go there whining about their miserable fate, crying out to God without ever assuming their choice of being there, and their resemblance with the Devil consequently. I'd be pissed, I would burn them for eternity.
@@Enderdragon1201 I'm fairly certain God isn't omniscient, he simply knows all things that are knowable. The actions of humans and probably angels too are not pre-ordained and are thus unknowable.
I was never terribly clear on exactly when Lucifer went to hell actually. God's phrasing was actually: "You will die within the day". Yah, but where does it say that? That's how everyone interprets it, but no where, and I mean no where, in the entire Bible, does it actually say Lucifer wanted to harm Adam and Eve. I'm not trying to argue about specific events in the bible, I'm just saying that there a lot of other myths like Lucifer's, and he's always the good guy in them. Why not here?
I discovered this song a year ago and it's still my favourite of all, not just of Voltaire's. It makes me feel - actually - relief. Sometimes I feel like a monster, it's such a bitterness... I'm overwhelmed by negative emotions, but listening to this song I realise I'm not demonic, it's my human nature...
I listened to this video and started crying because I had never felt sympathy for the devil before and I realized what had happened to him. Those where the dark days, when God didn't forgive.
Not much. Just... y'know. I'm frozen halfway through my body, in the frozen lake of ice in hell. Most people think I burn down here. If you read the books you'd know it's quite chilly down at the lowest circle.
Ocazzar Yep. Y'know, just waitin' my time. One day he's gonna forgive me for what I did, right? He forgives humans after all... Why wouldn't he forgive me? Why me?
This song always brings me to the brink of tears. I can relate to Lucifer in a lot of ways. I was supposed to be a prodigy, but the second I went against my parents' wishes, they decided to leave me
@@twinzzlersI mean, we realistically have more in common with Lucifer and Demons than God and Angels. We are imperfect, we sin etc. God is supposed to be perfect without mistakes. We just have the freewill to choose good or evil, that's the difference between us and demons. With the power of our freewill I would actually see us at top of the food chain, neither side can choose but we can.
I hate it when you even hint at feeling sympathy for Satan and people are all like "YOU FRICKIN' FRICK!!!! EVILLLLL!!!!" and call a goddamn exorcist. I mean for Christ's sake it's pretty corrupt that we DON'T HEAR BOTH SIDES!!!! Here both sides of the conflict before you side. (Btw I'm atheist, I just felt like saying this.)
a good way to think of the christan version of lucifer given how he is a perfect representation of humanity. all he shows and says is speaking of himself as what he is and calling himself almost human, all that lacks is him to actually BE human. which if you think of it if he is the representation of humanity and was cast from heaven, that means the christian god hates humanity while Lucifer is just one of them but with some kick to his step. Not trying to turn this into a debate, just an observation i wanted to share, love the song and Voltaires work XD as a writer and RPer my characters are often compared to these songs by friends
Just going to correct you here. Nowhere in the bible says it that Lucifer is a He. Lucifer is described as a She. The Queen of Heaven in fact. "You walked in Eden, the garden of God" "You walked upon the stones of Fire" means that she walked in god's heart. A She, not a He.
*rolls eyes* i dont really care, cause in 3 parts of the bible he is refered to as he ;) also i really dont care as christians false version of lucifer is...well simply laughable but then a religion which all logic of can be destroyed with 1 question...about a burrito. not worth paying caring about.
www.itstimenow4u.com/satan_lucifer_is_a_woman_the_queen_of_heaven_formerly Read this for reference. Though all in caps it makes points and references verses in the bible for proof
No it is not a sin. I was christened catholic (I've renounced the religion, not the faith)and during my younger years, I found that I sympathised with Lucifer in his endeavors. All in all he did speak his mind, and in the end was cast from heaven for being different from the rest outside of wishing to please his father. Then again, the bible in it's self has been skewed and re-rendered for the past thousand years. So all in all, it's better to just question anything in terms of organized religion. If your preacher, pastor, priest, religious leader is telling you that liking something so simple as a song is a sin, or even questioning their teachings from what you've gathered from the bible, there is something wrong with them. Not you. P.S.-Yes, it's about Lucifer. It's being sung from his point of view.
Well, actually hell isn't even mentioned in the Bible. It's just a late addition from the church in order to keep the believers in line. Also if you use the modern definition of morality onto the Bible then Lucifer is less of a bad guy than God. Lucifer killed 12 people in the entire Bible while God let 2 bears mawl 52 children for making fun of a Bald guy
To be fair I do understand why Lucifer didn't wanna bow down to humans, why would anyone bow down to violent miserable hateful assholes who can't even get along with each other. and can barely even share the earth with their fellow humans, and even kill each other but people blame "satan" for that, Think also about this, god created everything correct and lucifer(said to be god's favorite) exactly the way he is, in a way he is (besides the whole angel thing.) hes was just like us, he wasn't perfect but he was cast out to hell. I mean dude, imagine how'd you feel if your dad cast you out, and favored another child more.
I'm an athiest but this is such a bad point of view that it surprises me that people spread this message. Satan causes sin. He's the guy that makes people do terrible things. He's also being punished in Hell, but even if he wasn't, that means that Satan basically makes people do bad things and then punishes them for doing it. What an asshole.
What I enjoy is how at first we sympathize with him, as he seems to regret his actions and compares himself to us. Yet near the end his hate and evil shines through showing his pride and arrogance, how he still believes himself superior to God, as well as revealing that him comparing himself to us is actually in eyes self-deprecation to showcase how far he has fallen.
Oacus He is superior to God, as he has never come even close to doing as many evil things as God has, and is far less hypocritical. At least he admits he is jealous and spiteful, rather than being the most spiteful, jealous, arrogant and prideful douchebag in the universe who designed two entire species specifically to worship him and stroke his ego and threatens to torture them for eternity for failing to do so, yet still declares himself perfect and has the audacity to condemn others for their pride. Also, in that last line he also implied that humans were better than God as well as he compared himself to us and then said "better than He", so...don't see how that is all that self-deprecating, if anything it sounds like a compliment (albeit with the caveat that he also says that he and we are jealous, spiteful and hateful, but hey, no point in pretending that we don't feel jealousy spite and hate, it's just that those aren't the only things we feel). With that last line "despised by they" assuming he is talking about the other angels he's sort of implying that it was them that hated us (as well as him, as he is comparing himself to us when he says it), not necessarily him.
Okay, I know I'm going to be attacked for this comment, but in my absolute honest opinion, Lucifer didn't deserve to be kicked out of Heaven. I think God took the power he had, and used Lucifer as an excuse to show the angels he was in charge, don't stand up against him. Lucifer may have been too proud to bow to Adam, or even jealous of humans because God loved them more, or maybe he was punishing the humans against God's will. Maybe he even saw the evil in human hearts, and believed God had made a mistake creating them, thus causing a civil war and divide, etc. etc. The thing is, was God in the right? Look at humans. Look at us. We're stupid and disgusting and literally kill our own children, brothers, friends, people we don't even know, for the dumbest reasons. If Jesus is real, then we are further from him now than we ever have been. In many versions of the story of Lucifer, if not almost all, humans were the ultimate issue that led to Lucifer's fall. That's why he hates us, punishes us and (depending on your faith) tries to tempt us and lead us from God. And my final point is, even if God wasn't completely right, even if Lucifer broke and wanted to go home, even if he broke down in tears and apologized and begged his father to take him back, would he really be forgiven? Many faiths consider him the ultimate sinner, and many faiths (especially the Jesus ones) believe even if you're a sinner, if you ask for forgiveness and truly want it, you will receive it. Would God be that forgiving to the ultimate sinner, the angel that fell, the one who would need it the most? That's just my opinion. I'm not hating on any religions. By all means, believe what you wish. Don't turn your back on your God. I just thought I'd give some food for thought.
Anyone think Abbout Supernaturals Lucifer (or Hallucifer, for that) When listening to this? :D i got the sense the first time now when watching to one of the episodes
***** Yeah, you do that. I was sitting that one night with my eyes hanging in my face listening to the song, and then i got one of these immense sleepy toughts that kinda blow your mind at the moment ;) : "No wait, i know this guy and who he is, besides Voltaire singing for him"
Rotcrawler He didn't. He referred to himself as not being a big boy. It's actually a very endearing lyric, picturing Satan like a child of God who still hasn't grown up. It's a little on the nose, but so is the whole song.
When words like "angel", "demon", "Heaven", "Hell", "Lucifer", "Brothers", or things like that came to my ear I think immediately of supernatural. This show has taken over my hole life but I LOVE it ^^
I really relate to this song rn, I’m struggling to meet my parents standards for me, and I’m getting bullied, my parents say it’s because I’m not normal enough, and it’s really dehumanizing. I’m almost good enough meet their expectations and not get bullied, I’m almost human . . . Almost
I've noticed a lot of people defending Satan, look I get that this song makes him out to be this sad, lonely real relatable guy but you/we need to remember HE lead the rebellion, he CHOSE to take half his brothers and rebel against God. It's like if a old king had 100 knights and saw each as his own son and then one day his favorite, most beloved son lead half his kindred is arms against the king.
Some speculation that this might be the next song for Daria Cohen’s clips as part of her series. It was already confirmed it would be a Voltaire song, and from what I can tell it makes sense with how Duke got beat lol. Anyone have anything to add ?
The thing is... trying to overthrow an omnipotent entity was pretty futile. so any retaliation on the part of god comes off a a bit petty. Its like a grown up decking a kid in the face for blowing a raspberry.
*"i'm just like you made he despised by they"* does that really sound like he was trying to become god, it sounds more like the part in supernatural where god wanted him and the other angels to love us the humans more than him. and him as lucifer at the time loved god more so its more of he spoke out on what god ordered an was casted out into hell where he is a prisoner why do you think he hates humans he loved god his father more than us and the other part "*i'm jealousy, i'm spite and hate, i'm just like them, i'm almost human, look at me i'm almost a human being"* another thing just like us so pretty he is saying i'm like them so why are you treating me this way to god, (who is their father cause he made them too.) an top all it off it was said him lucifer was gods favorite an look where he is now the lowest circle in hell i mean after all why would a person/son or daughter love someone more than their father or any parent like the mother i'm not christian or catholic but that's kinda what i got out of the song
I mean, God did see everything that would ever happen in the future and STILL decided to make Satan with a personality that would cause him to rebel, so...yeah, kinda asking for it there.
@@noonenowhere877 You are right. He is not asking forgivness from God. He is asking it from us. In fact, I think Lucifer likes humanity, or at least he did when he made us eat an apple that would give us the power of telling right from wrong. I like filosofy, so I think that was a really cool present. Better than the socks under the christmas tree, at least xD
Lucifer, the Morning Star, was once God's favourite angel. He punished humans doing wrong because he didn't understand the gift of free will they were given. He acted as he had been taught to act, as he had always acted. Then, God and he got in a fight. Morning Star was cast from on high, sent to Hell. That's the story we all know, or a version of the story. We all know that Lucifer and God had a run-in with each other. We all know Devil used to be Angel. But it's not the entire story. Lucifer loved another angel. Arianna. When God punished Lucifer, he also banned the two from ever seeing each other. They somehow got around this, sneaking away to be with each other behind God's back. Arianna became pregnant with twins. Damien, the son, was raised by his father, as the Prince of Hell. The daughter is said to be on Earth, among mortals.
I know this is slightly old but. Isn't it said Lucifer(the snake) is the one who gave us free will cause the forbidden fruit which said is why we're "doomed" Edit: Least that's what i heard.
Lucifer didn't fall from heaven because he merely thought a simple thought. Lucifer wasn't sad or depressed when he fell. He was cast out of heaven with pride. He doesn't need sympathy. The book of Ezekiel tells us that he fell because he thought he was better than God. He still thinks that. Ezekiel tells us that Lucifer tries to deceive people because he doesn't want to burn in hell alone forever. He only does what he does because he wants to destroy and tear apart god.
+Nathaniel O'Neil Cuz he is way better than God. He gave humanity knowladge, he made them ate the frobiden fruit. And he destryos Gods plans in an instant. God havce tried to fix that, but i took him like 2000 to come up whit the plan od killing his son. And that plan wa not so succesful, because he did not deafeat all sinin the world. So Satan is way more powerful or at least his intelligence compansate the lack of power for him.
Nathaniel O'Neil Of course the book of Ezekiel tells us Satan is a liar. It's written by people who worship God, Satan's greatest enemy. There are two sides of every story, and history is written by the victors.
It only says all that because it was made by humans to worship god and try to 'see' things through God's eyes and what they think that happened. Both God and Lucifer have different stories, even the most hated people suffer. And even if Lucifer fell he fell from heaven proving that he was right and God was wrong. But even if Lucifer fell God still considers him his creation
I always thought Voltaire was French, (not because of the accent, but his name is based off of Francois Marie-Arouet, A.K.A Voltaire, a French Enlightenment Thinker.) I found out he wasn't after a quick Google search.
Yep. Though I think Satan and Lucifer are separate entities. Also I'll be honest and say that I am not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to anything biblical. The most I know are some of the more well known stories and stuff.
***** In some groups that have more focus on the spirits and what have you, they are separate. But in most christen story's Lucifer is the angel, and when he falls he becomes known as satan
Etymologically (what words mean) Lucifer means 'lightbringer' and Satan means 'lawyer/speaker/devil's advocate', amusingly enough. But yeah, modern Christian understanding of scripture is a complex subject, due to the many different flavours of Christianity and (as jewish comedian Lewis Black pointed out), it's all built on hebrew tales with totally different context.

Step right up! I'm a reasonable guy!
Don't be frightened by the look in my eye;
I'm just your average evil meteor from outta the sky.
Well, I'm just shy and scared in this place,
I'm just a fish outta water from outer space.
You can see that the trip has left me tired and drained,
So why don't you be a pal... and bring me some BRAINS!?
Go down to your neighbor's place.
See the dull expression on his face?
You'd be doing him a favor if you brought him to me:
He ain't using his brain, he's just watching TV!
Go down to Mr. McGee's:
He hasn't had a thought since '43.
His brain is the portrait of atrophy.
He ain't using it, why not give it to me?
Brains, brains, I won't lie!
I'll eat their brains 'til they're zombified.
Sure they might think it's deranged,
But they won't give it a thought after I've eaten their brains.
Brains, brains, it's okay!
It's not a matter if it isn't gray.
And if at first they thinks it's strange,
they won't think twice if they don't have a brain!
Go down to the Won-Ton Shop,
My fortune cookie says that I just can't stop
I'll suck the noodle right out of their heads
And half an hours later, I'm hungry again!
Creep into the donut stop,
Sneak in, tip-toe past the cop.
Pick me up a cruller and a cupful of tea,
And any other sweetbreads you happen to see.
Brains, brains, I won't lie!
I'll eat their brains 'til they're zombified.

It's not a matter if it isn't gray.
And if at first they thinks it's strange,
they won't think twice if they don't have a brain!
Brains, brains, I love 'em, I need 'em...
My tummy jumps for joy when I eat 'em.
Big ones, fat ones, short ones, tall ones,
They're so delectable, especially the small ones.
No time to cook 'em in a skillet.
My belly's rumblin', I got a need to fill it.
I don't fry 'em, the heat will only shrink 'em,
I'll just grab myself a straw and I drink 'em!!! (ohhhhhhh...)
You've been swell to go around
And bring me every single brain in town
But with all these brains, I can't help but think
That there isn't one left out there to drink.
Now fess up, boy, come on, heck!
Is there someone that you're trying to protect?
Bring her down here to meet her end
And I promise I'll be your bestest friend.
Brains, brains, I won't lie,
I'll eat her brains 'til she's zombified.
Sure she might think it's deranged
But she won't give it a thought
After I've eaten her brain.
BRAINS, BRAINS, It's okay.
It's not a matter if it isn't gray,
And if at first she thinks it's strange,
she won't think twice
If she don't have a brain!

Still listening to Voltaire? Aha.
My biggest issue with the Lucifer story stems from the claim that humanity was unique in that we had free will. Angels were not supposed to have free will... so how would Lucifer rebel if he didn’t possess the ability to do so?
Michael Williams Oh how very, very true! I often forget that some people lack the ability to scroll past things they don’t like. 😂
He wasn’t an angel, he was a Jinn
Jinn are made of fire and angels are made of light
Angels don’t have free will but Jinn, like humans, do have it which is why he squandered that for his own personal gain
@Tigerclaw "how can you make a pen if you yourself aren't made of wood?"
To the core i mean

People also gloss over Samael, a link between Heaven and Hell. Perhaps he used to be a friend to Lucifer?
I see Satan's no different from us on the path of free will.

Onden Bern
From my understanding, the majority of satanists - such as the Church of Satan - don't actually believe in the devil as they don't believe in god. They are basically atheists who like a bit of pomp and circumstance - and like to tweak the religious people a bit. They believe in the power of the self.

Saying The Devil is almost like a human being.
a good observation and very true, i even commented on this with a similar observation
I always pictured this as the devil trying to gain sympathy from man by victimizing himself and then attempting to make us identify with his "plight" by telling us he is "just like us."
If we extend it to an allegorical music play, there is no shortage of people who also pose as victims and say "Come on, help me out, we are practically family, you and I!"
so this song is from Satan's point of view?
Yep
DarkSkies132 Lucifer yes
This song asks a good question.
"Is it really such a crime for an angel to speak his mind?"
Because that's what Lucifer was punished for. He, out of all the angels, questioned God.
Do you know the questions he ask and was he cast out just for questioning and can you tell me your source if possible. ( I legit want to know) please and thank you.
I remember once hearing he tried to become god or something
He didn’t question god, in my religion (islam) god commands the angels to kneel to adam and Lucifer refuses and say that he’s made of dirt and l am made from fire hence l am better then him. In conclusion he was punished for his pride. Which is the biggest of all sins.

+Nathan Deaton He did not commited pride. He wanted to be equal to God, that is why he was cast down.

Until you realize that he has completely missed the point.
"I'm almost as evil, vile, cruel, vicious, and despicable as they are! Why am I not loved?"
+Red Dragon it says that he's imperfect, like that of a human.
Lord Audino
Yes, but he also thinks that the correct answer to not being loved is to become even worse.
+Lord Audino Damn, now I can even relate to him on a teenage angst level.
“If there wasn't evil in every single one of them they wouldn't be people.” ~ Holland Manners
I guess he also got rolled into other mythological rulers of the underworld, like Hades and Osiris.
Connor Tyler considering that hell is less a place as a state of being, you could make an argument for both.
But I think that he rules in the same way a crime boss rules a prison. He can't leave, but the other prisoners fear him and he controls them.
Lets consider the fact that both Paradise Lost and Dante's Inferno (i know that's not the name of the book), are not cannonical, its more an interpretetion from the reader.
I think Lucifer sees himself as the ruler of hell when in actuality he is only a prisoner. "Hell has no rulers only prisoners" Jason Todd (I think)
This needs to be on the soundtrack of Lucifer.

Poor Lucy. (i hope nobody minds that i called him that)
He was the angel of light.
Nicholas Bussard
You are aware of his origins, right?

Perhaps you shouldnt take the gospel literally
That’s an interresting theroy and it actually make sense which make it even more sad..... poor Lucifer
I took the final part of the chorus "pity me im almost a human being." as him not wanting to be anything related to a human.
Well we are in the image of the father that cast him out. ;p
I can’t for the life of me tell whether “Pity me, I’m almost a human being” means he’s deserving of pity because of his humanity or because of his lack of it. Or whether he’d be better off on either extreme but just not in the middle. And I don’t want to know because the mystery is cool.
Voltaire is the only person who could make me feel sympathy for Satan. And that's why I live him.

@@phillydaize9634 if I didn't know you were making a reference I would say that's a very in-character thought for the BOS
Is it really such a crime for an angel to speak his mind? I love this song.
Silent Solitude something that hates your existence is easier to relate to? Ooook
The Ouchiegiver Well, he has a right to hate us. As we've done all of the bad things he's done, yet we still get multiple chances at redemption when he gets none at all and has been made the mascot of evil in the Bible.
Yeah dude lucifers great i play poker with him on sundays... just dont lose.
Anything But Mad I just like reading all the comments you guys post now I wanna research it
I swear this should be played to anyone who questions why villains are often more appealing then the heros.
Because Satan is jealous of humanity, because they are loved by God. Voltaire really knows biblical theology.
+Al3xh413 Absolutely. But he was a prick since the beginning.
That makes me sad ;~; He's probably lonely....
Satan is ruler of hell
God is ruler of heaven
technically since all the humans are on the round and not in the sky and almost human loves God, Devils do not come from the ground, they come from the sky.
Anyhow I personally hate God, so this I created my own Gods. Everyone has their own ways and own beliefs. the world needs to realise that and accept it or else you're all gonna kill each other for nothing.
This song makes me feel like everyone is equal despite their past.

When this song makes more people sympathize with the devil than the song literally called Sympathy for the Devil
It's strange how much I would like to sing this to my former best friend and once lover. It describes how I feel for her perfectly.
I get this song is about the Devil but I'm out here connecting it to Frankenstein's Monster; a creature made to be a crowning scientific achievement abandoned by its creator for nothing more then looking wrong.
That puts a whole new perspective on this
I love it
@@Defenselessdamselindistress69 eh not really if you look at the lyrics, Frankenstein was an innocent creature, Satans own choices led him to his fall from grace.
The answer is either A.) your freinds are wrong, B.)Gods actually an arrogant proxy with a superiority complex, or C.) He doesn't exist
Lazurus Beta
Or maybe god doesn't conform to your understanding of good or evil.
With love,
Yipkin.
God bless!
Hannah Pense question why punish the fools who were tricked into evil.
I just feel like noting that at this very moment, your comment has 69 likes. And that's somehow appropriate.
I think the Devil would still kick the burning shit out of those that go there whining about their miserable fate, crying out to God without ever assuming their choice of being there, and their resemblance with the Devil consequently. I'd be pissed, I would burn them for eternity.

I thought it was because he tried to stage a coup against God. Other than that though, no clue

a good way to think of the christan version of lucifer given how he is a perfect representation of humanity. all he shows and says is speaking of himself as what he is and calling himself almost human, all that lacks is him to actually BE human. which if you think of it if he is the representation of humanity and was cast from heaven, that means the christian god hates humanity while Lucifer is just one of them but with some kick to his step.

Is this a sin, if I like this song? I think it's about Lucifer. And... I'm catholic...
I’m a Muslim and I don’t think it’s a sin to enjoy this song
It’s a very interesting commentary on morality and human nature
Yup, you're going to Hell for listening to Voltaire.
The comment's section on this video is basically a group therapy session for Satan, and it's kind of cool

I love this guy's songs. His songs have inspired some villians in my world's.
I was sitting that one night with my eyes hanging in my face listening to the song, and then i got one of these immense sleepy toughts that kinda blow your mind at the moment ;) : "No wait, i know this guy and who he is, besides Voltaire singing for him"

this would be great for lucifer series, it´s perfect for the character
I'm a huge fan of Voltaire. if i ever make a movie i'll probobly include this song
This reminds me of the comic Satan and Me.
A long time ago, I read this comment, and I found Satan and Me. You are blessed amongst mankind.
Omg I love that comic
YES! SATAN AND ME IS SOOO GOOD!
"Remember, that I am thy creature: I ought to be thy Adam; but I am rather the fallen angel."
Can someone make a mashup of this and Bo Burnhams "From Gods Perspective"?
Skeleton-Rampage Oh yes, please, that would be beautiful
I don't hate Satan. I pity him.
I feel like he should act in every vampire movie bc he has that creepy voice
+Nia Butler creepy? how so? it's a gentleman's voice as i'd like to call it ;P
would have liked this song immensely more if he didn't refer to himself as a big boy .
Rotcrawler .....why?
+Pandaslowpoke it's a really cringe lyric.
Rotcrawler He didn't. He referred to himself as not being a big boy. It's actually a very endearing lyric, picturing Satan like a child of God who still hasn't grown up. It's a little on the nose, but so is the whole song.
Good explanation, +10 internets to ya.
I can't believe that i just discovered him yesterday :( His music is so amazing ^^
makes me think of Lucifer from Supernatural
Why does it sound like Lucifer from Hazbin Hotel is singing this to God?
Because the song is from Satan's point of view
Humans:There is no hope in a world without God
Voltaire:Hold my beer
This...
Reminds me of Supernatural-
So true.
I think you meant to say: "Hail."
I'll give you a chance to correct that mistake
one smol bean Good.
crowley just wanted to be loved...
When words like "angel", "demon", "Heaven", "Hell", "Lucifer", "Brothers", or things like that came to my ear I think immediately of supernatural. This show has taken over my hole life but I LOVE it ^^
1) I LOVE thins song!
2) Lucifer😂
3) season 8-10 Supernatural CROWLEY 😂
" I JUST WANT TO BE LOVED"
I know right =
ikr, always liked crowley seeing him like that made me really sad
so edgy
Yeah but what about the Crowley from Good Omens? He would fit better, having once actually been an angel. :)
WHY DID YOU REMIND ME OF THAT SEEN AAAHHHH THE FEELS!!
Is it only me that think this song really suits Crowley from Good Omens?
Edit: 2019 anyone?
Hshshsh yes
Yes it fits*
Yup, especially with the headcanon of him being Raphael
I really relate to this song rn, I’m struggling to meet my parents standards for me, and I’m getting bullied, my parents say it’s because I’m not normal enough, and it’s really dehumanizing.
I’m almost good enough meet their expectations and not get bullied, I’m almost human . . . Almost
Snickering Snake I can relate to this
You’re not alone
@@ezrastardust3124 thanks! I no longer live with them, so I’m doing a lot better now
I've noticed a lot of people defending Satan, look I get that this song makes him out to be this sad, lonely real relatable guy but you/we need to remember HE lead the rebellion, he CHOSE to take half his brothers and rebel against God. It's like if a old king had 100 knights and saw each as his own son and then one day his favorite, most beloved son lead half his kindred is arms against the king.
Jake Slayer so like the emperor of all mankind?
That's the story we've been told by other humans that claim to know these things anyway.
Some speculation that this might be the next song for Daria Cohen’s clips as part of her series. It was already confirmed it would be a Voltaire song, and from what I can tell it makes sense with how Duke got beat lol. Anyone have anything to add ?
Not Funny may not be valid anymore
Satan: What did I ever do to you that you should treat me this way?
God: You tried to overthrow me.
Satan: Oh.
The thing is... trying to overthrow an omnipotent entity was pretty futile. so any retaliation on the part of god comes off a a bit petty. Its like a grown up decking a kid in the face for blowing a raspberry.
*"i'm just like you made he despised by they"* does that really sound like he was trying to become god, it sounds more like the part in supernatural where god wanted him and the other angels to love us the humans more than him. and him as lucifer at the time loved god more so its more of he spoke out on what god ordered an was casted out into hell where he is a prisoner why do you think he hates humans he loved god his father more than us and the other part "*i'm jealousy, i'm spite and hate, i'm just like them, i'm almost human, look at me i'm almost a human being"* another thing just like us so pretty he is saying i'm like them so why are you treating me this way to god,
(who is their father cause he made them too.) an top all it off it was said him lucifer was gods favorite an look where he is now the lowest circle in hell
i mean after all why would a person/son or daughter love someone more than their father or any parent like the mother i'm not christian or catholic but that's kinda what i got out of the song
I mean, God did see everything that would ever happen in the future and STILL decided to make Satan with a personality that would cause him to rebel, so...yeah, kinda asking for it there.
I don't think it's directed at God. I think that's the "He" in the song.
Better than the socks under the christmas tree, at least xD
my friends say to me "your not human even if i do look like one" they also say a few other things that are in that prospect
Dawno już nie słuchałam Voltaire'a, ze dwa tygodnie będą :P
Isn't it said Lucifer(the snake) is the one who gave us free will cause the forbidden fruit which said is why we're "doomed"
Edit: Least that's what i heard.

I like this song. Honestly this song impacts me.
That's an interesting way of thinking about it.
Anyone else thinking of Lucifer from Supernatural.
This song is so sad.... poor Lucifer I feel a little bad for him
Song make me think of the show lucifer every time!
I’m actually eating a fig right now and it’s weirdly immersive.
So...Satan/Lucifer seems to be the speaker here.
But yeah, modern Christian understanding of scripture is a complex subject, due to the many different flavours of Christianity and (as jewish comedian Lewis Black pointed out), it's all built on hebrew tales with totally different context.
why does this feel like it should be in a musical?
I'm starting to think this discribes Satan from The Devil's a Part Timer. =7=
Kiku Yao that was a cool show.
Twas.
I loved it.
Kiku Yao you're the only one I know who has watched it, you should recomend other animes to the echo.
Oh really? XD
What do you mean?
Recommend animes to you or what?
Kiku Yao yes, that's what I mean, other ones to watch.
Its my good friend Satan, how is it in hell?
Its okay, I still appreciate you, see you in 30 years!
