- AFI's Black Sails EP that came out in 1999, apparently there were only 5000 copies made and I got mine for $1.50, when people are selling them for $30.00. Goes to show you, used record/cd stores are awesome! Oh and yes, AFI used to be a pretty great punk band
Lyrics:
Every single notion burned indelibly
Every motion leaving scars behind
All sincere emotion received skeptically
With no preparation for life eternal
Every tear that's fallen brings one thousand floods
Paper cuts are leaving blood behind
All the silent laughter ringing piercingly
I blink, making my eyes mine
Words in their worthlessness
They should be weighted down
But do I truly wish their cessation?
Fly
All copyright goes to AFI and friends
Love this song and this whole era. I think about how crazy hard these guys were working. Cause to Release black sails EP then black sails in the sunset and then All Hallows Ep in one year is just crazy. That's a lot of material and a lot of recording time being put in. Not to mention they also had material for the The Art of Drowning era as well. Its just mind boggling to me how hard these guys worked and how passionate these guys were at the same time. Not to say they aren't now. but doing all this stuff in the late 90's early 2000's is wild to me.
When they where at there best :)
I loved them still my favorite band but honestly i think they put more into it than no Autotunes and all the great tech we have now I bought the CD with Miss Murder listed to it for 3 days and gave it away and i got half sleeve of All Hallows Art on me lol but my opinion have a great day hun.
@@shadowdouglas450ya my all time favorite band, but everything after Art of Drowning just isn’t the same, got worse with each album until the newest where I can’t stand a single song. Miss these days of AFI
Went to High School with Paul Miner..Very Proud of Ya..look in the album jacket :)
His brother Jim, also played ice hockey with me..Jim was in Death by Stereo..just some info
@@shadowdouglas450 admittedly I got into this band through the Sing the Sorrow/Decemberunderground era. TBF I never liked Miss Murder though. I liked everything except that one of that album. ANYWAYS, through those albums I got into their old stuff (except for the first 3 albums) Anything with Jade Puget on guitar is great. but their 98 to 2001 era was SOLID.
This band has so much music and it's all SO GOOD
I fucking love davey's voice on this. Thanks for uploading!
Great song so glad to hear it Afi at there best.
Old School AFI rules. Saw them with sick of it all in Portland back in the day.....now THAT was a show!!!!
Saw that tour in Vancouver too. AFI, Sick of it All, and Death By Stereo. Such an amazing show. I met Davy briefly that night, as well as Efrem (Death By Stereo) for the 1st of many times
Saw them with sick of it all in San Diego mid nineties
I saw them in Philly back in the day with sick of it all too! That was a sick tour
The Boy Who Destroyed The World pt 2
It would be Part 1 technically as this EP was released before the All Hallows EP.
BodaciousWickerman true. The sounds of the songs are alnost identical
Black Sails was one of my favorite albums because it had that same sound as the All Hallows EP
Black sails came out the same year All Hallows EP
Narrative Of Soul Against Soul pt II, Transference pt II
Apparently they played this song for the first time live last night in Cleveland.
Bruce Almighty Damn that wouldve been something to see

This is my 2nd favorite song by AFI.... behind Totalimmortal.
My fucking god, this band was so epic and great! I knew it then and now.
the ending lyrics is "Burn" not "fly"
