  • YES, you CAN sand the finish off a guitar neck by hand. It just takes some good sandpaper and a lot of patience and elbow grease.
    I used a 120 and 240 grit papers to sand down to the bare wood. Next up is doing the same to the body and prepping both body and neck for a new NITRO FINISH!

    Do you have a sanding technique that yoh use for this process?

      I used a few techniques using some small foam sanding blocks, a rubber 3M sanding block, and my fingers. I mostly sanded dry with 240 grit wet/dry sandpaper, but I wet sanded here and there with mineral spirits instead of water too, wiping off the excess, and turning the wood in my hands under lights to make sure I've sanded flat.
