As someone who has only really dipped my toes into FGC stuff with T8 as the first fighting game I've gotten interested in competitively, Steve really makes me enjoy it so much more. He seems like a great representative for the scene - entertaining, knowledgeable, and quick
I have a feeling T8 Hwo is gonna see a lot more tournaments than in 7, feels like he's a genuinely viable tournament character in this game vs previous entries. Hes always been a noob killer but in 7 he fell off at higher ranks, no where near the case with this Hwo im loving this shit
Hope everyone enjoyed the Top 8! I was a bit nervous even when I'm use to local tourneys and events but glad people are getting to know the NorCal scene a bit more! Thanks to Spooky for having me on to commentate!
The thing I've always appreciated about Tekken is that learning to play at a high level really is like learning a fighting style. Nandito & FoS showed off two very different Dragunovs. Thinking in three dimensions, using tools most other fighters don't have, finding multiple ways to play mind games. The depth is intimidating, but so rewarding. SF6 has a lot going for it, but the tournament play of T8 is showing off why Good Ass Tekken is a catchphrase. Great work by Steve and Infernal Spyro!
Mmm.... Strange somce Tekken 8 Is the most character driven game in the whole series and literally NOTHING I've seen at this tournament ù, I haven't seen at... Blue ranks online. maybe these players are not the best, but even watching the best of the best, they all play the same fkn thing. They stripped player expression and personality in gameplay and bumped up the characters with all the unga bunga bs, the heat stuff and rage arts being so safe and damaging, while the game being built entirely around aggression and mashing buttons, with handicapped movement. To be honest, I'm already bored of Tekken 8. There is no execution requirements and everything is so character specific... I'd rather get Tekken 8's netcode into Tekken 7 and make a native PS5 version with 2 seconds loading screens and I'd rather put in another 1000 hours into that than play another 100 hours of Tekken 8. It's just not fun. I'm not playing players, I'm PLAYING against CHARACTERS. Only Jin and kazuya ,match ups are different due to execution barriers. Everyone else plays basically the same. Fought 1 victor, fought them all. It's a braindead character. It's just like playing against the A.I. Even at fujin ranks, victor players don't block and don't know how to block, they just know the armored move or expulsión. And this tournament looked like any random replay you can find in the game. And the dragunov player didn't even look like a specialist but just a tier whore. The real tournaments will look so much worse, just like ranked. Tons of Jun, azucena, dragunov, Nina, king and a few devil Jins.
Mishimas have generally underperformed in tournament play for ages, they excel when the player is able to read the defense of their opponent, and 9-15 health bars isn’t enough at the top tier to train and download an opponent. Dragunov def has strong buttons, but he’s not alone in the top tier, and there are pros winning with every character on the roster rn.
@@pow_dunxonly Mishima who has performed well in tournaments is Devil Jin. And I agree, with the last statement, I'm seeing pros win with some honest and mid tier characters as well like Lars, Bryan etc.
