I missed this show the first time around. I am glad someone finally uploaded it so I could catch it. I love Richard Dreyfuss and this show was obviously a labor of love for him. Some of these episodes are amazingly relevant 20 years later. Especially, this episode. It is well acted, well written...with one HUGE EXCEPTION!
The James Naughton character is blatantly over the top. I realize they were going for a Rush Limbaugh type, but I'm not so sure that even Rush would say what this guy says at the end that makes even the Republicans turn tail and leave his lecture. Perhaps, I'm wrong. I never listened to Rush back then because I didn't care about politics. Today, though, times have gotten worse. Now, I am more aware of politics and what is being said about our country.
The so-called Liberal Students of 2022 are doing the same thing to people like Ben Shapiro that they did to James Naughton in this episode. They shout him down, try to deny his right to speak. They even cause violence in some situations and even attack their livihood. However, what Ben Shapiro says is tame compared to how the writers chose to portray the Naughton character. It just goes to show you how much worse Liberal behavior has gotten. Now they won't allow for ANY opposing speech!
I liked the resolution for this episode. It was the correct one. I wish so-called liberals would act that way in real life. I just HATE, though, that the writers felt they needed to make Naughton into a bad guy who chases away the people who invited him with his speech. It's lazy vindictive writing on a show that promises better and usually delivers.
