WEN BA3959 Band Saw First Test - Capabilities and Pushing the Limits

I bought this same unit to potentially cut curves in plywood/mdf and 2x4s, but also to resaw 2x4s. In particular I wanted to create 1/2" to 3/4" baseboards from 2x4s.. given how expensive wood is today and 2x4s are much cheaper. I don't know how well 2x4 wood is as a baseboard but I have to imagine its a bit stronger than the MDF most baseboards are made of.

Wow, I think for the plywood curves it's great and you made a good choice. But, with this size of this machine I wouldn't want to be re-sawing 2x4's. It may cut through the 4" direction, but would take forever to do long lengths. It would also over stress the machine and the finish would be bad. Not to mention issues with twisting and splitting due to moisture content and internal stresses in the 2x4's. That's just my thoughts. I love this little machine and use it for all kinds of small cuts, but that's what it is, it's a little machine.
