I’ve e done so many reviews on this machine before buying it and nobody ever had anything bad to say about it. I mean it won’t please everyone but I certainly looooove my HTP Invertig 221.

The selling point for me was the customer service. If you have an issue you can call and they can work through and diagnose any problem and mail you the parts to fix it. That sat with me much better than just take it to a shop and pay whatever they want and hope that it fixes it. However I’ve never had a problem. Once or twice I’ve had an issue were the pedal would just send me to max set amps, but I just did the old turn it off turn it on and it was fine. I use the machine everyday and it pays my bills. The water cooler is loud as hell. Had it for maybe 7 years now.
Please if you don’t mind, go into the ac stuff. Not sure I’m tracking. Thanks for the video Justin

Thanks Justin, this is one of the TIG machines I am considering. I don't even know how to TIG, just MIG. I've been all over the map with what I wanted to buy, my budget was 1500.00 and the diversion 180 can currently be bought for that, but there are things I don't like about it. Looks like I need to step up to the plate :-)... I appreciate the in-depth review as it helped a newb like me decide. Initially I'll be practicing on 18 gauge sheet metal so I can get good enough to replace sheet metal on an 68 Torino, the MIG just isn't doing a good enough job... Did I mention I am 62 :-), thanks again, Joe

this is one tig welding machine that flies under the radar so to speak......like the sticker says, drink a miller , drive a lincoln, but weld with a HTP

  • @weldingjunkie

I love my Invertig. Mines water cooled, wouldn’t use it without it now. Two complaints 1. I don’t like the 1/4bsp Argon lead connection as you said. 2. I don’t like the interface. With that said I love the machine. The ac bias is different than the dynasty 400 with miller you can change amps on EP & EN with Invertig it’s % of amps when you change EN then EP goes to 100% and vise vera so it takes a lot of time to get used to. I wish that welders all used he same gas connections so you can use one for all. If you buy this machine you need to get the cooler is amazing. This machine will also do pulse stick and weld stick rods in both ac and dc modes. I’ve done many videos on this machine.
Justin thanks for the video man! Good job!

Justin, first thank you for all the videos you are producing and after I get healthy enough to travel regardless of my skill level by then I will come to your place for training. I just got my HTP221 with cooler and have been practicing for now for a little over a day. After having many problems day one then reviewing your tips and a few others RUclipsrs well day two just started and things are SO SO SO much better. Thank you again many times over!!!

I have an InverTig 165DC that is no longer made. I don't do aluminum (mainly stainless), so the AC function is not needed. I can weld 3/8 stainless because less current is needed than mild steel. For regular steel I limit my size to 1/4 inch unless I'm willing to double pass or chamfer the edges. This welder really lays down nice welds and have been very happy with it. I'm thinking up updating to a 221.

I have been wanting to go to an invertor type machine for a while. This HTP looks like what I want. My last two tig welders have been Millers. My mig welder is an HTP I bought in 1993. Other than standard wear consumables it has been trouble free. Thanks for the vid.

  • @kenwalter867

Thanks for doing this review! I purchased this machine because I've been disappointed almost every time I've tried to save money on a machine and I could not find a bad review done on this machine! I watch every episode you post and if I could weld half as good as you do, I'd be happy.
Another great feature is the fact that even though it is crazy advanced, this model has been in production for years and I have been assured that post warranty repairs are very reasonable if needed. Some of the major brands, this isn't true and it would stink to have a machine just out of warranty that you have to toss in the dumpster because the needed board costs more than you paid for the machine.
This is my first TIG machine and it's nice to know that the disgusting welds I'm producing are all my fault, not the machine!
I know this isn't your thing Justin, but I understand this thing is an amazing stick machine too! Maybe a review on that some day??

    • @TheFabricatorSeries

I'm blown away by this machine and what it can do. I tried finding something legit to gripe about, but there is nothing I really don't like. It's always plugged in and ready to weld.
I might get more in to stick vids. I recently picked it back up to practice (been about 10 years since I did it regularly). I really need to practice before I tell anyone how to run it or review anything with it haha. I'm very rusty

What about if there was a remote for the leads that was attached on a kart but spread out or actually made in a kart then just unhook and roll it all away we built my neghbor one like that and it allowed for a storage area for rods drawers for Expendables in each section the bottom was grated with a pan underneath to put asorbe in to it keep moisture down for stick welder rods and the tank was Incorporated in the kart as well .just a thought and a build we done I thought I would share with you you can also have a light bulb in it while not in use it just plugs in to help keep the moisture down

  • @Phoenix-One0922
    @Phoenix-One0922 4 года назад +1

Yeah, yeah, it is all that but the main quality for me is also PORTABILITY AND ACCESS and this machine only does 220v, no 110v at all
THAT and the high price of it even without the water cooler is a downer. I mean, if you're gonna work your way into the Aerospace or the food industry where 90% of the time no filler rod is even used or you need to do Surgical welds then it is not for me. I weld basically Aluminum all day above 1/8" and above and for that, I rather get an X200 or a Everlast 185 dv which does the job to satisfaction. I don't take my welds to pageant contests or beauty salons to compare prettiness or aesthetics, I just make solid welds that most machines in the Range of $600 - $900 can do like the AHP, PRIMEWELD OR EVERLAST. That said, maybe when I get a job building airplanes or rockets that can justify me spending $3000 for an AC/DC welder, then I will get this. Probably by then, I could probably get a used one for $1,500 with plenty of life left on it. Otherwise, it is not worth the spending. I rely on my skill and I make ANY welder work for me.

Man I love your review videos. Love all your videos but I have a serious request. Ive been welding for about a year and a half now and I bought a Lincoln AC/DC 225. I’m able to run both stick and TIG on this machine but I’d love to see a review video on this very inexpensive machine. As always, thank you for what you do regardless.

  • @thegoodearth7

I made it to the end and read some of the comments, so here are some observations of my own:
    1. You have made it clear in your other reviews and your comment here that the Fronius Magicwave will decimate all, but in the 2-2.5k range, this unit rules.
Why? Is the Fronius really worth that much more? If the HTP Invertig is really that generous in features (found in units for which you have to spend 3k and above), what precisely makes the Fronius better? I certainly don't wish to see you mess up the relationship you have with Fronius for your school, but how about a apples to apples comparison of these the HTP Invertig and the Fronius Magicwave?
    2. I saw that HTP makes a water-cooler for this the Invertig (ca. $1200). Is it worth it? How does it measure against Fronius water-cooler? Price comparisons?
    3. I picked up on this HTP being of Stel origins. If I am not mistaken, that is an Italian company founded in 1979. Fronius, again if I am not mistaken, is an Austrian company founded in 1945. How do the companies compare--particularly with their U.S. import support network?
Your channel is arguably the best (Fronius or HTP?) for reviews and advanced learning welding tips. You are an very clear speaker (no "ummms" and "uhhhhs") who is clearly enthusiastic and deeply knowledgable about what he loves to do.
It is a joy to watch your videos!

I researched a long time between all brands including Everlast.I narrowed it down between the HTP and Everlast. I went with HTP due to its upgraded torch, foot pedal, nearly 100% positive reviews, and customer support. I had a question about the foot pedal and actually spoke directly with the owner, Jeff Nolan. You will not go wrong with Invertig 221.
