Chickens are ready for winter | Coop clean out compost!

We use the deep litter method in our chicken coop, which means we only add fresh wood shavings when the coop starts to get dirty and smelly, keeping it fresh for about 6 months. I clean it out in the spring and fall, just before we set them up in their wintering spot. I use the coop clean out to make some amazing compost, mixing it with my fall garden waste. This produces enough compost for me each year for amending the garden beds, it is a completely circular process.
