Fleets have three options of oil type: conventional, synthetic, or synthetic blend

Cost more? Walmart Super Tech full synthetic $17.00 for five quart jug. API approved and all the fancy numbers and letters as the big boy companies. Look on the back of the jug. Don’t fall for fancy logos endorsements and pretty color jugs.

Go with full synthetic. It’s better than conventional oil. Synthetic blend has a very very small amount of synthetic oil in it. It’s not regulated by the government so the companies can put in very little synthetic and call it synthetic blend. You know they will screw you for sure.

Take a wiff of conventional, synthetic and semi-synthetic. Conventional is filled with impurities so it has a strong odor, synthetic does not have much of a scent. If a semi has a faint odor similar to a synthetic you know it's good. If it has a strong odor and smells similar to a conventional, that's not good.
