Just wanted to tell you this really was an informative video and I learned how to harvest the patch my neighbor doesn't want to harvest. I'm very excited!
Thanks Noreen- new sub here. Your instructions are clear and succinct and most important, you sound like your enjoying yourself! Looking forward to more tips.
I find when im trying to remove air from the freezer bags I use a small straw and close the bag up to the straw and I suck what air I can and squeeze the bag close as im pulling the straw away so I do not have to get out the sealer to often
+Janice B She has a cooking channel too called Noreen kitchen and answered me about coming back to this channel over there. She said there is not much more she can show on this channel. that isn't already here. But I think she can do so much more.
Deer eat the leaves of my rhubarb. This year they didn't eat them all just just a few bites out of a few leaves. Last year though they ate all the leaves. There's only one deer left this year but it still ate some. Thank you for the video.
Silly question but are the leaves safe to compost since there is a level of toxicity? Thanks so much for the video Noreen. I'm going to try this in my garden next year. Hubby loves it. :-) The Mrs.
I havent seen any Rhubarb for Years, Used to eat it when I was a Kid, As I grew up in Western Pennsylvania, But I havent been Back in that Area for 35 Years. Where im living now I dont think People ever Heard of It!!
if you freeze the pieces in a single layer on a cookie sheet first.then add to freezer bag you don't have to break apart the chunk. works great also for berries.
I have never had a problem having them freeze together in a chunk at all. They just break apart. I freeze berries on a cookie sheet. I have done a video on that with some raspberries. Thanks for stopping by.
Keep in mind that the leaves are also poisonous to Horses and Dogs. If you have animals, just throw the leaves in the garbage. Don't risk poisoning your animals.
Not only did I enjoy the pulling and processing, but I loved the history and the uses at the end!!! TFS
Thank you for showing so much about how to harvest and process and freeze! For dummies like me with no clue this was very helpful!!
Thank you Noreen, I am doing up my first batch to freeze😃👍🏼

Make sure it's Rhubarb, there are quite a few plants that look almost identical to it. Murdock (a weed) being the most common one. :)

Hey Noreen I have some Rhubarb seeds can you give any tips on when to plant it next year? Thanks :) We love Rhubarb here at my house :)
This is exactly how I freeze it. It goes great in strawberry pie - just half the amount of strawberries and substitute with rhubarb.

Angelique stems reduce the sugar requirement in cooking Rhubarb, for those that are interested ;-)

How long can rhubarb be kept frozen?
If it is vacuum sealed, up to two years.
where are you from that you can't grow rhubarb?
Hello Where do you live
In eastern North Carolina
Remember you can use rhubarb in savory dishes as well. Americans forget it is a vegetable.
The music
have you ever heard rhubarb cry?
Pay a tax?

Not all rhubarb has poisonous leaves. You should, however toss the leaves anyway because they are no benefit to your compost.
well...you can, but...
Leaves are toxic. FYI
