  • When you need a panic bar installation, you should call a locksmith. Panic Bars are very complicated to install. From ensuring the entirety of the bar is level to ensuring the latch catches correctly in the strike, there's a lot that can easily go wrong and compromise your building's security.
    So that's why today, Guardian Safe & Lock's Brandon Gonzalez walks you through a job installing a Marks 9900 stainless steel Panic Bar. This bar replaced a previous unit that had broken over time, restoring security to our customer.
    Panic bars are commonly installed and used in conjunction with an access control system. Learn more here: www.guardiansa...

    Thanks for explaining the Dead Latch function in so much detail. Not knowing how that worked, we installed our striker improperly the first time. Great video.

    Thanks. I like that you installed cover plates over old latch holes. Most won't do this.

    Every Sales Rep or Integrator Rep should watch these videos. I understand most of the security verbiage, but it's taken much longer to learn Fire Code and particular door hardware verbiage. Some people hate learning the ins and outs of video surveillance and prefer Fire Alarms, whereas the same could be said about Access Control. Great work. You worked efficiently and much quicker than my large Corporate company. Cheers.

    Great work! Just a tip for high-use doors, tap the holes yourself, add machine screws and some blue loctite. The last thing you want is a panic bar that comes loose/falls off. Awesome demonstration nevertheless :D

      Also, if it is a fire rated bar, so too are the fasteners....do not replace the factory fasteners for installation convenience.

      Yes! I do this. I dont like using self tappers because every time you remove the screw you strip a little bit of the surface.

    Why do you need the dog lock if you're pushing it from the inside anyway and the door opens without a key from the inside? Is that just so you can get in from the outside by pulling... So is there no way to keep the outside lock unlocked while in use and then lock later when you leave is that what the door lock is for I'm assuming It's a one-way door kind of sort of? Thanks for answering my long question

    • @GuardianSafeAndLock
      @GuardianSafeAndLock  3 года назад +2

      Hey thanks for watching! If you have a entry function lever trim then you can t leave it unlocked, and there’s no need to dog it down. But say that it’s storeroom or nightlatch function, which is where it’s always locked from the outside and you can’t leave it unlocked. Then you could just dog down the bar and leave it unlocked, then un-dog it later to return to the original function. Thank you for supporting our channels, don’t forget we have two other channels UDROpreneur and Guardian Approved. Thanks!

      When I was on-site with Brandon, I heard some chimes too. I believe it was an alarm system but it was disarmed. There were a few other companies out there doing various types of renovation. Thanks for watching!! - Randall

    Are you able to use a handleset on the exterior with a panic bar?

    • @GuardianSafeAndLock
      @GuardianSafeAndLock  3 года назад +2

      To answer your question... No, but I think I know what you may have seen that might have lead you to believe that. Or maybe you were just asking lol Anyway there is outside trim that interacts with panic bars such as a lever or knob, and those are just referred to as lever trims or knob trims. And those come in different functions such as entry, night latch, classroom, etc... and then there is what’s called escutcheon trim and that’s what you may have seen. It kinda looks like a handleset on a residential front door..... kinda lol. So lookup escutcheon trim for panic bars and that’s what you’ll find. Thanks for watching, please check out our other RUclips channel “UDROpreneur” and if you would please subscribe to our channels we’d sure appreciate it. Thanks! - Uriah

    How much does it cost to have one installed?

    • @GuardianSafeAndLock
      @GuardianSafeAndLock  2 года назад +1

      It depends, but if your talking about labor, and just installing the panic bar with the lever trim, probably around $75-$100 for the install.
