  • Today we are visiting Kairouan, considered the fourth holiest city in Islam.
    Muslims come from around the world to visit its famous mosque. Not only will we tour the Great Mosque of Kairouan but we will also see local artisans, discover hidden rooftops with ceramic art, and be impressed with the musical talent of the locals!
    Let us know: Would you make the trip to Kairouan as a tourist? What would you like to see?
    Hope you enjoy!

    Sicily and Sardinia in particular were under the rule of the Carthaginians, Aghlabids, and Fatimids, and their capital was Kairouan. Therefore, you find similarities between Sicily and Tunisia.

    my friend that 7 trip story is wrong . Only Mecca to where we go but kairouan have a deep and important history for spreading islam in northa africa and africa and alos the conquest of spain where kairouan was the capital of all the maghreb and al andalus for nearly one century and half and some prophet moghmed frieds dies here..and also alot of scientists and philoseophers and imams lived here where the mosque before was a mosque and slo a univeristy where religious scieneces and mathsphysics philosophy etc was taught and for you you info the thing you wear in the USA when u graduate it comes from Tunisian tradition and the modern way of certification and class and couurse system in modern education because in Tunisia when u graduate from university where classes are given with a known courses you wear that tunisian djeba with that hat and get ur diploma . the columns of the mosque where the teacher sits and a cercle of students sit around him and he give his course and that startthe system of classes .

    The structure at 9:28 was used to know the time of prayer. In islam there are 5 prayers per day, and each one has a specific time, so back then they used the shadows of the sun on those metal things engraved in that structure, to tell the time and therefore call for prayer. Hope i'm not wrong.
    Loved the vlog though 👍

      @@TravelDialogues sì, non mi ricordo il suo nome, ma anche a noi aveva approcciato vicino alla Grande Moschea di Kairouan e ci aveva detto, con un marcato accento veneto, che la sua ex moglie era di Padova.
      Si è poi finiti a parlare di politica (gli avevamo detto che prima di visitare Kairouan eravamo andati a Monastir, per vedere il mausoleo di Bourguiba, e lui ci ha detto con la tipica cantilena veneta che ha abolito i clan berberi "perché è un bastardo!"), ci ha portato nel terrazzo di un negozio di tappeti per farci vedere il panorama della Grande Moschea e infine in un piccolo mausoleo dove si trovava la tomba del "bis-bisnonno" che faceva se non sbaglio l'imam (in realtà doveva essere un antenato molto più lontano, visto che era nato nel Cinquecento).
      Suppongo che lo possa fare anche perché alla fine, di turisti stranieri, a Kairouan non ce ne sono così tanti. La stessa persona, di fronte al Duomo di Firenze, non avrebbe il tempo di conoscerli tutti...

    • @TravelDialogues
      @TravelDialogues  7 месяцев назад +1

      Un personaggio veramente interessante. Ha più o meno la stessa storia per tutti i visitatori di Kairouan allora.
      D'altronde, come dici anche tu, di turisti stranieri ce ne sono pochi e quindi si cerca di fare cassa con quei pochi che passano per la città.
      Una storia abbastanza comune in tutta la Tunisia. In ogni caso, sempre molto simpatico scambiare quattro chiacchiere in queste cittadine - soprattutto se con qualcuno che parla italiano così bene!

    Nice video, just fyi there's no basis in islam for pilgrimage to this mosque. Must be some local superstition. Kindly consider not presenting religious beliefs in your travel videos, that you may not be well versed in.
