I am Pontian (Pontios) living in the island of Rhodes in Greece, and our Pontian dialect has survived through thousand of years against the Turkish hate, but slowly is more and more forgotten as years pass by. We have to preserve our history, if we want to preserve our ethnical identity. All together united Greeks in Greece, Italy, America, Russia, South American countries, Australia.

I have just found your video. My grandparents were Italian immigrants. My paternal grandparents came from the north, San Pietro di Cadore. Maternal grandparents from the south. Nonna from Napoli area and Nonno from the small village of Rocca Forte del Greco. I have tried many times to learn Italian but always hit a road block. Ι was in Rome about a week ago and I'm feeling so sad that i haven't been able to visit the beautiful south, especially Calabria and Sicily. I know till Mussolini force them to learn and speak only modern Italian most of the people older and younger used to speak only Griko , it's amazing that the older people still do.

Chi a provato la fame, fame di stomaco, puo capire cosa significa la miseria dare Un panino a tuo figlio e tua moglie, e tu passare la giornata senza mangiare..... Quando ai fame aspettare con il tempo Che ti passa... Ore e ore... Io lo provata Che significa la fame, non poter Comprare il pane e una cosa molto brutta, uscire da casa la mattina presto e pensare come avere 10 mila lire... Tornare a casa senza 1000 lire...... E lindomani la stessa cosa e dopo Un mese la stessa cosa e dopo Anni la stessa cosa.... E via via...... Avvolte si e costretti a fare il delinguente.... O per Un motivo o per Un altro.... Per 20 Anni la mia vita era tra traffico darmi, Estorsioni, e Usura, per fare soldi avevo il compito di andare da qualcuno, e se non usciva I soldi Richie sti, dovevo spezzargli Un braccio o una gamba..... Chi entra in una situazione cosi, si esce solo in due Modi o carcere o amnazzato.... Io sono stato fortunato nessuno dei 2..... A me mi a salvato il Signore tanti Anni fa, oggi servo Cristo e I miei peccati lo confessato a lui, perché solo tramite Dio puoi cambiare, gli altri cambiamenti non e possibile... I never knew that there were towns in south Italy that still spoke Greek - I discovered that in the US by talking to an Italian student at the same university. I always wanted to visit those towns and Sicily. Hopefully soon as you guys are a TRUE INSPIRATION! Can NOT thank you enough!
