      Hi Robin.
We bought the Barry B, then "Golden shadow" from Jack away back around 16 years ago roughly.
She was a wreck laying at the corner of Jack's woods before his house.
Unfortunately she got smashed up in a storm after breaking her moorings and ended up on the beach.
I'm sure Jack bought another 2 longliners before he got the cat. each one he went for a wee swim while working them.🫣🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Glad he made it through though, very scary stuff indeed. 😬😬😬
      All the best bud.😁👌

They are quite an interesting watch, ie crap!😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
I intend to do a new play list, and a more in depth catch up, when we get back to rebuilding the Barry B
      😁👌

Just found you what a godsend. I bought a longliner with outboard 9 years ago. Alas tried twice to leave harbour here in Ireland and engine failed. Work commitment and health put fishing and potting on hold.just last week I ordered and had delivered the mercury EFI 15hp with tiller control.we checked with Orkney and the serial number dated it to the 70's. Over sanding down the transom has demished the serial number. We do know it worked as a potting boat on the west of Scotland, however don't know how it ended up in Donegal. Looking forward to viewing your episodes on this great boat. Thankyou Richard

Hi Richard, what a great story, and thank you for your comment, but unfortunately, I have to rain on the parade I'm afraid, at the present our story turns to our new venture, our Cygnus 21 the " Lynsey B"
Unfortunately (for the present) the Barry B, has been put on hold, until the Cygnus is complete, (the money maker!)
But not all is lost....I shall be finishing the Barry B off, and making her a new trailer. So there will be plenty to come.
If your wee Orkney is from the 70's she must be around the 1st ones, as Orkney started in 1975.😉👍
Its amazing how many, and most importantly, where these iconic boats turn up!
Not built for speed, but by god, they can handle a sea!
Thank you, for your subscription, comment, and your story Richard.
All the best, my fellow Orkney friend.😉👍
      Baz.

I remember your auld dad and Lenny working from this girl in the early 80s. They both still held full time jobs at Torness, working for Wesso, and fished before and after their shifts. Hard work! Nice to hear of her good fortune. I hope she sails for many years to come. Perhaps you'll even try the long lines with her. I spent many happy summers in Stromness, in a vessel not unlike this lady, long lining in the Pentland Firth. There's no more satisfying a way to fish.

That's right Billy. Remember my dad doing all those kind of hrs! He just loved the sea, even when he worked ashore!
Mind you, Torness was the ONLY time he worked the shore 😂😂😂😂😉👍
