This video reminded me of when I started with the 3D printing hobby a little over 10 years ago. It was much more complicated back then, with calibration and all the technical aspects, but it was very rewarding and fun. Welcome to the world of 3D printing, where there are no limits!
I've got 7 bambu printers, and have used many others. You are doing fine. Honestly Bambu are one of the easiest printers to calibrate and use. Which isn't a bad thing. More time printing and less time trouble shooting. Just when it comes time to change out the belts...oof. My least favorite maintenance. Stock up on elmers glue sticks and lithium greese. The glue sticks are kind of just in case, some material likes to curl up on the edges even on the textured PEI bed, small layer of gluestick fixes that problem most of the time. Your printer will tell you when the lead screws need grease.
Whoa, how often do Bambu printers need a belt change? I still have a Prusa Mk2.5s with belts that are at this point 8 years old, I really don't let it rest, and it still has original belts and prints absolutely reliably.
@@katerinachuranova8435 not that often. I was having issues with one of my machines, something was squeaky and driving me nuts because none of the others were doing it. Most of the maintenance I've done to any of the printers is grease and change out the nozzles. My point was the belts are a pain to change if you need to.
Rec room is one of my favorite games of all time in vr. It’s such a charming game and the community is amazing. I’ve made so many friends in real life that I became closer with because of rec room and I love it so much
There is a product to take your cast off plastic and recycle it. If nothing else, it would probably make good test prints or supports. Plus, I’ve seen people make filament out of plastic bottles.
It's still really impractical if you don't have fiddling with such a machine as another hobby. I really want a filament recycler, but the technology is not ready yet.
glad you joined the club!!! printers have jumped in easiness a ton now. you did a few mistakes but learnt and fixed them so great job! If you ever dare you should test an ender v2 or some cheaper printer and see how far we have come in the hobby but you may suffer a bit too much 😅 I just started 3d printing a rc car to build with my kid so lots of possibilities in the hobby
You can recycle the filament scraps. I think there’s a way to do it yourself, but places like Printerior have you sent it in and can get recycled filament back for a fee.
Bambulab really brought 3D printing to the masses. If you buy a second AMS, it comes with 4 empty spools. Also you can print em or buy some from the bambu store.
I have been in to 3d printing for over 5 years now. I mostly do 3d printed foam dart blasters and nerf gun upgrades. Its a great hobby just can get expensive with upgrades to the printer and filimint depending on what you go with. Just keep it up my friend. Definitely have one of the best printers on the market to.
just a tip for every 3d printer owner!!! i really like that some brands take the spools back to reuse them as well as the support material, they will shred it und give you a discount for your next purchase or give you material you can use again, so nothing goes to waste
Fun fact, these machines could have started being made in the 90s! But in the 80's stratsys filed for patents that locked us all out of being allowed to do stuff like this, and then proceeded to do basically nothing with 3d printing in the consumer space until their patents expired. Even today Statasys holds numerous patents on 3d printing technologies that hold the industry back.
Now you're a craft channel.. you are just so versatile. Go print something romantic for Kim, or do something like a Zelda diorama.. take it to the next level and buy an airbrush :D
I have DEFINITELY been waiting for this video, so it has renewed my interest in my 3D printer (Ender 3 v2 Neo). I am also definitely using the SKADIS file to hang my amiiboo figures on my wall.
Hey Just wanted to add some info about the history of 3d printing and why its only now seemingly to get popular. It was originally invented in 1983 with rough but working machines but until the early 2000s it was patented and gatekept. The big thing that changed was There was someone who made the first open source (basically meaning made publicly useable) 3d printer so many people and company's started to make them. For many years all of the 3dprinters being made often required alot of fixing and tinkering to get it to produce anything decent and it still struggled with most things under perfect conditions Until in 2018 a company called Creality released the first Cheap yet reliable 3d printer on the market which had a huge impact on the community and grew it massively and today many companies still make knock off versions of it because it was so good. Since the breakthrough which was the ender 3 the market has gotten much better and now we have printers like the X1c from bambu lab which automates mostly everything and makes it almost as easy as a microwave
Since I have been doing a lot of 3d printing for a while, and got the X1 carbon, I want to give you a little advice, You can actually tune thee settings, To both make prints overall a bit faster, use less filament, but also, you can tune it so it 'poops' less, and the like if you are willing to go through the effort, That being said, Don't worry about it if you don't want too, as learrning how to fine tune it for all that is part of the learnning experience and you will get it eventually. I would suggest making custom filament profiles though that use "Long retraction" and cut, as well as reducing purge amounts, But, the newest version of Bambu studio apparently has already done things to help with that, at least when it comes to using its own filaments.
use modeling clay at the back of the keys to weigh them down. If they're not holow on the underside try drilling them out. Could also drop in magnets maybe. Drill out the back than put one magnet on the bottom and one on the key. make it so they attract so they pull back at each other which will fix the dropping key.
I've had the same printer for around 6 months and an Elegoo N4 pro a little longer. As others have said, you can print your own spools. You can actually print the Bambu reusable ones too. The file is on maker world. And can even be found on the SD card that came with the P1S.
As for 3D printing existing in the 90s: Someone had patents on it, and those only ran out a couple of years ago. That's why it wasn't a thing much sooner already.
I got into 3d printing at the beginning of the pandemic and have been loving it. It's a great activity I can do with my son and there are loads of great use cases. I'll say also, the hobby has come a LONG way and it's easier than ever to get started. The Bumbu Labs A1 and A1 mini are fantastic for anyone getting into it for the first time - and at a great price point. For people with more 💵💰, the version Wood got (PS1, I think?) is great. One piece of advice: get whichever printer you can _also_ afford the AMS (automatic material switcher) for. Even if you don't print in multicolor, you'll save yourself manually swapping materials *between* prints and you can always have four filament colors loaded up and ready to go. Wood: I'm so glad you made this video. I feel seen 😅 and I'm excited for more people to join the hobby! 🎉
Love the video, I am always drawn to these creative designs. And this video certainly made me appreciate the merchants who would sell nice 3D prints at a low price more. But also stops me (again) from buying an actual printer myself after the 3D printing course I took in college 8 years ago. Printing half of my finals for 25 hours straight was not fun at all (and the other half cut from a laser printer which was very fire harzardous and has to be forced shut down when the fire alarm went off because some fool decided to smoke inside the art building). And thanks for reminding me the almost forgotten pain of doing it.
Dude this was so much fun, please make more of these! You could print a bunch of Pokemon leading up to the Pokemon LZA release, or build an animal crossing town, or more switch accessories (there's literally thousands of files, just make sure you're crediting the creators if you're using free stuff, don't want to get sued 😂) you could make custom shells for game consoles if you use the right filament. Super stoked for you!
Your such a really good RUclipsr I watched a lot of your videos when I was younger when u went to Japan it was a lot of fun thanks for making my childhood❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@BeatEmUps btws you can 3d print the spools and you can melt the waste to re use it again. just felt to point that out as its a really handy thing and i may have a problem about waste of any kind lol
The point of the spool refills is to save on waste plastic, the cost is just a bonus/incentive. You will go straight back after seeing how many spools are laying around after a few days of printing. Was going to mention you didn't need 100% infill, but I saw your timelapse, and I don't know how you got through the better part of a kilogram on one mid-sized project like that. Unless they're selling you 700g or 500g spools?
WOOD! If your printer doesn't already have a hardened nozzle you will want to get one for using the GITD filament. It will straight up GAPE a brass nozzle. I love seeing people discover how much fun 3D printing is.
Its funny How you mention How 3d Printing hasnt been a thing for long, well its easy. 3D Printing was worked on in the 90's but the first commercially avilable Printer was released in 2006. It just "recently" became Popular due to the Cost and ease of use.
Wood Hawker and Nintendo Switch accessories are synonymous in my brain now. Also you influenced me to get little game grips for my switch joycons. Makes Mario Party Jamboree and other joycon games much more enjoyable! Also I'm with Kim. 3D printing is crafting. I'm a crafter with clay and needle felt. We are the same lol
Welcome to the hobbie, I've had my printer for only a couple months but I've fallen in love with it. I've been making mostly cosplay stuff and the experience of making stuff is so much fun
love your enthusiasm! please make more videos like this. I'd recommend printing useful stuff like proprietary repair parts for things you value. your coffee maker spills water during the making? design (like in fusion360) a riser and fix this. you keep misplacing your remotes? print a holder for them and put them in. Also: you can print front plates for your switch dock with multi color prints now if you want to.
Buying it without the spool is something that is nice for once you have gone through a spool or two already and have an empty one already. That way you save money and the plastic spool isn't going to waste after being used only once. I don't think they intend for it to be an option where you are constantly swapping colors off a spool.
I've been interested into 3D printing, but not enough to actually look into machine options or anything. Have read that the plastic scraps can be recycled back into other projects. For the Labo stuff, I bet you could easily do small springs to cause the keys to go back to where they should after pressing them.

I’ve made so many friends in real life that I became closer with because of rec room and I love it so much
Amazing how Wood got into crafting and almost immediately became a god at it. Now I want to 3D print too!
Love the Scott pilgrim at the back
glad you joined the club!!!
printers have jumped in easiness a ton now. you did a few mistakes but learnt and fixed them so great job!
If you ever dare you should test an ender v2 or some cheaper printer and see how far we have come in the hobby
but you may suffer a bit too much 😅
I just started 3d printing a rc car to build with my kid so lots of possibilities in the hobby
Print the switch 2 ( you know you want to )
Would love to find the files for that.
Definitely have one of the best printers on the market to.
wait till he learns not everthing can be made with a 3d printer
Well, the Nintendo Switch is near the end of its life cycle, and he didn't say ANYTHING about not buying Switch 2 accessories.
That tv 📺 3d print was absolutely perfection
just a tip for every 3d printer owner!!!
i really like that some brands take the spools back to reuse them as well as the support material, they will shred it und give you a discount for your next purchase or give you material you can use again, so nothing goes to waste
It's easy with an expensive machine, having a cheap one makes it an adventure to configure every piece you wanna print xD
At least you're honest about using other people's designs 😅
I have DEFINITELY been waiting for this video, so it has renewed my interest in my 3D printer (Ender 3 v2 Neo). I am also definitely using the SKADIS file to hang my amiiboo figures on my wall.
That was awesome! I'm so down to watch more of you learning to 3D print more stuff and watch you evolve your craft! That was so fun.
These accessories videos are the best 🤘🏽
OMG, please put spamwave presenting news inside that little TV box to complete the look, I need to watch it 😂 9:39
I loved this video very much. I can tell you put so much effort and time into it. I'd love a series off of the 3D printing ❤
That piano seems like an easy fix to me, just toss a counter weight to the end of the keys so they auto pop back up after you press them
use modeling clay at the back of the keys to weigh them down. If they're not holow on the underside try drilling them out. Could also drop in magnets maybe. Drill out the back than put one magnet on the bottom and one on the key. make it so they attract so they pull back at each other which will fix the dropping key.
Really cool video! I think it be cool to have this start up a new series for what weird or whacky prints youve made.
Lol! got bit by the print bug have you? I print loads of stuff on my Ender 3 printer and its amazing! (Idea for print: Zelda EOW map)
I find it so funny how Kim seems more concerned with every 3d printed wood pulls out.😂😂
I think you could print those "Skadis" boards with interlocking edges so you can build a big pegboard.
Kim is so rigt about printing a bunch of skadis and hanging your controller collection on them. Would look sick.
I love this change in content you are so creative ✨
Now it's tears of the kingdom link
Your such a really good RUclipsr I watched a lot of your videos when I was younger when u went to Japan it was a lot of fun thanks for making my childhood❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wood: I’m never buying Nintendo Switch accessories again.
Wood when the Switch 2 accessories come out: “It’s free real estate.”
You can also 3D print refillable spools so you can have your own spools
You did amazingly! I was so lost when I started in like 2022 but the barrier to entry was so much bigger as well
A copywrite patent kept 3D printing from the world for 30 years, i think it was is the 2010s when some patents finally expired.
always love the energy when Kim in the video!
That switch tv box would be dope with a aftermarket small dock and the power cable coming out the back so you can keep it charged ;)
You should print those 3D printed dragon fidgets, they are so amazing!
You can make silicone molds and melt down the leftover PLA into objects
Next one you should 3d print an accessory, and Kim makes one by hand.
We NEED more of these videos
love your enthusiasm! please make more videos like this.
Make more 3D printing videos please 😅... I really enjoyed this...
For printing high detail models I highly recommend using a resin printer.
Wood’s real 3D printer arc begins when he discovers gridfinity
Buying it without the spool is something that is nice for once you have gone through a spool or two already and have an empty one already. That way you save money and the plastic spool isn't going to waste after being used only once. I don't think they intend for it to be an option where you are constantly swapping colors off a spool.
Recommend angling your minis by about 45 degrees. And yeah, use organic supports.
Okay, but can we talk about how good Wood looks in glasses!
I've been interested into 3D printing, but not enough to actually look into machine options or anything. Have read that the plastic scraps can be recycled back into other projects.
For the Labo stuff, I bet you could easily do small springs to cause the keys to go back to where they should after pressing them.
One of us! One of us! Once you start you’ll never stop 3D Printing!
8:52 but when you finish a spool in the future, then you will have empty spools laying around.
8:41 cant he just print his own spools? 😂
Or a spool winder.
Yes, you can print spools. I did for my own printer
