Damn. The brood war story was actually epic if you watch it like this - all at the same time.
Just spent 3+ hours watching through the SC1 videos. These were fantastic and exactly what I was looking for. I can now go into SC2 with fresh backstory in my mind.

Thank you for posting the full story of not just brood war but the original games remaster.. i remember playing both as a kid..my cousin that introduced me to the game is gone.. but i like coming back to one of my favorite games ever and watching the campain brings back memories of me and him playing it together anyway thanks again..
Starcraft 1 was such an AMAZING game. I remember i was totaly obssesed by it.

I don't know if you are aware, but during gameplay you can hear everything through your mic. It didn't really bother me, but I figured that wasn't intentional.
Yeah sorry about that, this was an issue for all the games I covered prior to 2019 and thankfully I have come a long way since 2018! I have much more modern equipment and software now that should reduce/eliminate this issue.
It was very much a learning curve for me :}
I can now safely say the "story" in starcraft is like 90% contrivances for the gameplay (forcing different matchups and situations) and 10% actual story developments. I could probably summarize the story and characters in like 10 minutes or less.
It's a series of alliances and betrayals over and over and over.
I think that simplicity is what made Brood War fascinating as everyone had to enter into these alliances of necessity as political power shifted and two sides of the triangle were forced to ally to take out the third side. I will say there are some things that seem contrived just from the nature of the game, that are more apparent when you grow up. For example, the UED trusts Duran, a literal random, faaaaar too quickly. It makes DuGalle look a little silly. The game has to cover a lot of time quickly though, so there isn't really space to add in all of the extra scenes to show how Duran integrates himself in the UED and builds up that trust.
On the other hand, I think trying to force in an extremely lore-heavy fantasy epic plot is kind of what went wrong in SC2
Nostalgia level is full power, you did tremendous work with this. I didn't even remember Admiral DuGalle, he was an awesome secondary character. Remember being really surprised during the briefing for Augustrad to see both Duke and Fenix death's as conditions for victory.
Nostalgia for real, this was one of the first sci-fi games I ever played as a kid ! Haha that's funny you don't remember DuGalle because I didn't remember him either but I remembered some of the cutscenes I just forgot who he was :}
Yeah man, Kerrigan went full on betrayal !!
I do think Kerrigan is one of the best characters in all of gaming, she has this legacy of being both the Hero and the Villain and plays them both perfectly, fighting against her own humanity on so many occasions ! Just the most incredible character and truly iconic !
@@donHaize One of my brothers had gotten me back to play SC2 co-op with him, thus revitalizing my interest in the entire story. Recently we played a game where I used Fenix and he, Infested Kerrigan, oh the irony of that alliance. lol
@@williamjubi Amazing, haha yeah although from memory the Fenix you play in Co-op is a clone of the original Fenix not the Fenix from SC1.
I do like the irony however.
To be fair if you haven't watched the SC2 story yet, I would highly recommend it !
@@donHaize Never knew that about the co-op Fenix. I figured they just added him as a fan favorite. I'll definitely check out the SC2 Story vid. Great work again with this series, incredible editing on your part.

There are some memorable lines I'll take away from here and they're both from Kerrigan: "Clean. Simple. Devious. I like it." and "Queen Bitch of the Universe."
She definitely had the best lines. I see why she’s the mascot of the franchise.

Amen to that! Or at the very least, they should've all teamed up to fight the UED instead of AMON. Fighting Amon was the most cliched boring storyline ever. SC2 should've had all the factions fight each other again, then team up to fight the UED. Once they defeat the UED once and for all, then you can turn Kerrigan human again and it would've been earned.

So, they say SC2 plot is bad while SC and broodwar were masterpieces. Totally disagree! Only campaign worth mentioning is UED with all that Starship troopers stuff. SC protoss campaign was also somewhat good, but all of the others: not even worth an orc's mind, or a semuta drug user, or a jawa, or a klingon, or a stewart-robot positron brain, or a Shrike tree. Pick what you want, anyway I expected much more of SC plot considering the amount of fans and it's influence
I guess this simply comes down to preference and what you like, personally I thought all of the Starcraft plots were great, a ghost that got betrayed became the queen of blades, saved by her lover and then became the saviour of the galaxy! Pretty cool plot line if you ask me but then again that is my jam and I was brought up with SC and Brood War so nostalgia has a part to play too

They cut to black. They cut to black a few frames early on Degulle's suicide. They literally censored one of the most important parts of the scene.

It's funny how they call it a remaster but most of the graphics are the same... all the cinematics still look as if they came out in 2002, it just goes to show how lazy billzard has become.
At least Diablo had new cinematics
