You're getting close to 100K! No surprise to me since this is the best fishing channel on RUclips. One thing I never get tired of hearing is: "I hope you catch a giant". It brings a smile to my face every time. I'm happy that you get to do what you do too! Ice fishing would have been fun so, maybe next winter.

What size rod do you use when fishing for flatheads? Will a medium 7 ft rod work?
@@timothyolmstead449 I'm obviously not Spencer, but to answer your question, yes, the rig you mention will catch bigger fish than you think. When I was young and fishing from paper route earnings, I caught several flats over 20# on the old Zebco 404 (I think) rod reel combo. Hardly a world class outfit but it worked. One of my favorites for working in close quarters is a 6ft m/h Ugly stick topped with an AbuGarcia XL1 bait caster. 50 lb spider wire for main line. The rig looks small/fragile, but it has landed flats in the 40+ range and have been running it for some 25 years with no maintenance issues and it is very light to handle. It doesn't have the casting range of some other gear, but it will fit in a sedan, easy to use in a boat and it has enough sensitivity to detect the subtle bites that flats often do. Very versatile. The price was acceptable, too. Hope this helps:) Otherwise, I use 12' heavy surf gear (all Penn with solid stainless guides) and International series reels when fishing the bigger rivers - just a preference for sinker weight, bait size and current flow. Some of the baits are suckers/quillback/carp in the 2-4 lb range. Jus' sayin'

Try a 6 gallon open end bucket to haul tackle and snacks and water and a cushion-empty bucket of contents and turn upside down and place your cushion-reverse with catfish in bottom of bucket and come home

Yep caught 41 yesterday in about 1-3ft. I only use Mr. 'Whiskers catfish bait. And i usually catch a limit every time i go out. Spring, Summer Fall and Winter. Fish were good sized and my nephew and i had to stop as my live well would not hold another fish. Texas here.

Nice vid - the action was on fire. Trying certified swimmers this weekend for what ever will bite.
Those look like ones we put in last Spring. We have some bigger ones that were already in our pond when we bought our place. We put in 100 10" channel's early Spring, 20,000 flathead minnows and made two nice gravel spawning areas for the bluegill. 20,000 more flathead minnows last Autumn, last weekend another 100 channel's and 20,000 more flathead minnows. The fish quality has improved dramatically. Oh... and have been saving/freezing bluegill heads when catch & cook. They work great!!!! We do have a feeder, every other day goes off for short time. I think last year we used 200lbs of feed for the entire season. The bass have seen a huge improvement also, appears bluegill are giving plenty of forage for the bass and bigger catfish

I know a spot like that near me in Iowa, as soon as the ice goes out you can catch average 3-5 pound cats til your arms give out. Biggest I’ve seen is 20 pounds.

I hit a school of big eaters at the mouth of a creek couple years ago and must of caught that many with my pops. We've been checking that creek ever since and nothing. What a day that was.

Caught an 8 lb carp in southeast Iowa. Was using nightcrawlers for pan size catfish but no luck. Carp went to the smoker though 😉😉
Might need to start putting those bells back on the rod tips so you know when you got a bite.
