This never gets old.
No joke. This is one of the greatest songs ive ever heard.
This stuff touches me more than The Raconteurs’ stuff.
Brendan is a great musician, I have loved his music ever since my ex introduced him to me way back. Good music to sing along too, and a very original sound. Seen him a few times in DC, great great shows.
Really good.❤❤❤
I've been playing along to this video for half an hour now. Metarie is my favorite song and the setup he's got here with him and Chris Plum is great for just sitting around singing songs with your friends.
BB is such an incredible...

writer
performer
guitarist
what else can I say? The man's amazing

Brendan is my favorite musician. If you don't have any of his solo stuff you are doing yourself a great disservice.
There are 3 or 4 versions of this song, i think the best one is the the live version from the Metarie EP, it sounds like its being sung around a camp fire, quite hippy, full of love, its GREAT!
this song seems to portrait me. this is my song. thanx Brendan for writing it!
I love this. So much.
one of my favourite ever songs, truly beautiful...
@desertbunny He's either from Louisiana or spent a lot of time there, and Metarie is a town just north of New Orleans that's actually spelled Metairie. Another bit of trivia is that the album "Lapalco" is named after a street that he lived on that is an abbreviation of "Louisana Power and Light Company"
He lived there when he was a kid. Royal Oak MI born and bred tho
The man is a genius...as the world is beginning to find out...
me too .. took me a minute to realize he was tuned to Eb though :P
This reminds me somewhat of Cobain-era Nirvana
Yeah, same here.
i like the version with the other lyrics better, but this is still a really good song.
Nirvana had an era OTHER than "cobain"?
agreed
Jack white would tell you brendan benson is the king of Detroit
That would be Smokey Robinson or Danny Brown but Brendan's definitely a prince among princes
can't find any words to say what i think about this song.
the fact that the word "metarie" is tattooed on my neck might give you an idea. cannot wait to see him live as a solo, if some damn italian venue hosted him!
btw, who can explain me what does "metarie" mean? i know it's a part of new orleans but never knew how to match this info to the song -.-
@linmis thank you! I kinda suspected the Metarie thing, but never knew about the Lapalco meaning, this is pretty funny!
BTW I finally got to see BB live two months ago. He played the videoclip version, which I must say I don't like. The uk version would have been so much more exciting!
Ok this settles it, I have to see her
its kinda funny, his voice sounds completely different with the raconteurs... i had never heard any of his solo stuff before i heard him with the raconteurs so i was expecting something completely different when i heard his solo stuff.. both are great though...
does any one know what happened to chris plum
:( he and brendan where perfect together
Pedazo de tema!! Mejor la del Lp que la del single!! No os olvidéis de Brendan!! Gran compositor y cantante!!.
