Hey Pav, thanks for the video, this camera tracks very well and it looks stickier than the other Fuji cameras with shitty firmwares...But it still has a stepping look to it when it rack focuses. I still see the background pulse in that manner...Seems like Fuji can't get that right. Thanks for testing it though. 🫡
that only happens when the camera is not recording. Once the camera is recording the focus changes are super smooth every time. I don't know the is the setting to focus smooth when HDMI is connected and a camera is not recording.
4:26 5:16 5:35 e.g. the stepping is pretty obvious @@PavSZ yes, the last one was on the Viltrox with stepping motor, but it doesn't step like that on a Sony body. Of course your video shows that it is very capable and produces beautiful results. It's not about proving the AF is bad, in fact the X-M5 probably has the best AF Fujifilm ever put on any 5th gen body and I hope I get this on my X-T5 running v2.10 sooner than later. But regardless, it's about showing that Fujifilm introduced these issues years ago and they did indeed work better on older models with old FW. There's room for improvement. Thank you for your video. The AF improvement is very obvious.

Yea, like you said, it ain’t an ‘impressive’ af, but still, acceptible ones, considering the price range, which is good enough for majority of the fuji shooters. @hermessonofzeus4462 We're in the exact same boat. I love my x70 but I want the better image quality of the xm5. my xm5 will be delivered today, so we'll see!
@ wow exciting! Have fun with it . Yeah it’s a dilemma I’m not a professional so I can’t justify having too many cameras or money invested. I took my x70 out last night with the kids for a walk and wow I still love the images it produces. I think I’ll keep it and sell some old film gear to buy the xm5 ). Enjoy the XM5 !
Great content! To me (I'm not a videographer, I'm a designer) the footage looks professional enough! Just a small suggestion: could you place the lens information slightly higher above the bottom margin? When I pause the video to check the details, the playback bar covers the text, making it hard to read. 😄

I love the features it offers, but I have a few concerns regarding the autofocus performance, does it deliver consistent results with all Fujifilm lenses? I have xc-35 mm 2.0 . Would AF performance with xc-35mm success similar performance like xc-15-45mm or xf-23mm 1.4?
I had no chance to do it as I was travelling. I don't think it will be an issue if you use any type of cooling fan, like the Ulanzi one. I'll test it if I get my hands on the camera again

To be honest, I had no clue Fujifilm had issues with autofocus. For so many years, all we have heard about is how bad Panasonic was, but then they basically fixed it nearly perfectly. And now Fuji is technically the worst?
It’s only recently that they broke it in a noticeable way for most users, with the constant hunting and false positives. Their autofocus has been pretty good - worse than most other brands - but pretty good. I shoot wildlife with my Fuji, and Sony is about 25 years ahead 😂 and I’m not exaggerating.
It still won’t focus in situations where there are multiple people, + if you turn it off it won’t focus until you set it up😂 again & again & again & again
this is just not true. I showed that it stays on one person by default (unlike other brands). All you need to do is enable tracking or touch focus to change from person to person

Sadly, AF never will be good at Fujifilm. It's DEI corporation (as stated on their site), they have other priorities.
