Those scotch blocks continue to amaze me in spite of how simple they are in function. They certainly have an overwhelming impact.

I started watching your channel a while back. The pads you use under your wheels to make a dead man anchor for your vehicle is ingenious. Was this your design?
Always impressed with your use of block and tackle.

No this is an old school tow truck trick from a long long time ago
You rarely see it now because new technology made hydraulic legs that stab down instead
The correct term is Scotch Blocks
You can google them and find a few places that make them
      We made our own

    Impressive sirs!
I understand information you can provide due to competition can be limited. However, is there a reason you can't or shouldn't use scotch blocks from the front? Also, I would think the ground would have to be somewhat muddy or sinkable for this to work at all times. (ie..not pavement)

    • @OffRoadRecoveryLLC
      @OffRoadRecoveryLLC  4 месяца назад +1

We used them on the from for a long time before we installed the rear winch
The straps hit the tires and wrap around them so on hard pulls it squats the suspension moving the blocks farther back
Which makes them slightly less in performance
On the back the straps are in a straight light from frame straight to blocks
So the blocks are always in the perfect position
You want the tire on til of it and the front section of the spade is an angle that would make it dig deeper as you pull
If the spade is too far back on the tire the angle tends to go the opposite way making it climb as it drags
      Hope that kinda helps
Either way they still work well
      Just better on the rear
