It appears that when the people at Geylang Serai really needed Tharman to meditate on their behalf to fix their problems, he wasn’t around. Instead, he prefers to come and sing to them three months later.
I'm glad that Singapore is finally implementing pedestrian friendly neighborhoods! Singapore is notoriously car-centric, a paradox for a city where car usage is supposedly "disincentivized". I hope this small city will soon start to reclaim the MASSIVE space it's regrettably allocated to cars, by reducing the number of lanes for cars, ripping off that concrete/asphalt and putting there more greenery instead. Many roads are actually wide enough to accommodate an entire new raw of apartment buildings! It's not that Singapore doesn't have enough space, it's rather that SG uses that land unwisely
HSR is just postponed. Must reserve land for the HSR terminus. The KL to Sg HSR is worth M$600 billion (S$200 billion) and generate 12 million trips. 😂❤
Now North City is coordinating to make TRX successful, and give Impectus for Bandar Malaysia. The MoF owned sites are critical to finance the S$20 billion HSR construction. Likely Singapore investment is needed to part pay for the asset. . A bourse listed OPERATING COMPANY could be created for this venture. ❤😂
China build Xiong'an from ground zero into smart city within 6 years but Jurong Lake District take decades, many many years, not very efficient. In fact, it is a failure. It has shown the incompetence of the government.
Because Jurong has been an unpopular district to stay in, in part because of it's far-flung location and proximity to factories which are unfavourable to real-estate investors.
Is because more WP are voted in! So PAP lost 10 capable men in parliament to help Singapore. What have WP MP contribute in the past 20 plus year in parliament?
Maybe because Singapore would rather build buildings to last instead of Chinese buildings where it will suffer structural failures in the coming years.
Big country can build mega project and later abandon big mistake. Singapore is too small to afford even the smallest mistake. So planning takes time and the outcome is rewarding. Reclaimed land Marine South sat vacant for years. Now its skyline is a well known landmark. The Jewel at airport was once a carpark for T1. Now it is much talk about by travellers and Singaporeans. The writer @petrusromanus3790 is obviously not happy with our city planner. But most Singaporeans appreciate their work in Singapore. Just look around you. Their city planning is 1st class and they make Singapore very liveable.
Jurong East not crowded enough. Let's masterplan the crap out of it and cramp the area with more homes and office.
We need also more hectares for family offices right?

Thank You, Dr Mahathir, for Jurong Lake District.
