    In Every single clip of Meryl Streep on Graham Norton that I have watched whenever she talks everyone just shuts up, stop and watches here and it is so soothing. It gets so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

      +lalahammy on American talk shows that's what the topic is usually. On red carpets, that's what the reporters ask about. So it's more of what media wants out there, not that women can't have these conversations. That's why I love graham Norton bc he goes there with his guests.

    These are the type of women people, especially younger girls, should be looking up to: sophisticated, accomplished, smart women. It's unfortunate people like Kim Kardashian get all the attention and give the younger generation of girls a false impression of what a successful or accomplished woman is.

    • @hablaablablah1942
      @hablaablablah1942 8 лет назад +76

      +Dee Zee wow... You just validated These women and what they're fighting against. You're comparing women and piting them against each together in order to decide who is better. They need to conform to your notion of what a woman is, in order to be good. Kim Kardashian, made an empire from nothing. Used her sexuality, beauty, intellect and business prowess to build a billion dollar empire, start a life for all her family, but she isn't as good as these women because she's openly provocative? who are you to decide who women need to look up to? You're jumping onto the bandwagon of people who criticize kim kardashian, simply because she's embraced sex, her sexuality and isn't ashamed of it. They're all admirable in differnet ways for different things. Fuck you for only seeking to validate sexism while trying to fight against it. She's succsessful, she has a loving, happy family, a well established career and brand and she got what she wanted. These are well established, happy actresses, they got what they wanted. If you go after what you want, and you get it, you're a role model.

    • @wolfmerc11
      @wolfmerc11 8 лет назад +48

      +Peta Rina You missed the point entirely. By the way Kim Kardashian didn't just "embrace" her sexuality she put out a fucking sex tape just to get famous. Are you actually saying you would encourage women to do that in order to achieve fame? Believe it or not women are actively trying to be seen as something other than sex objects. Can you say the same about Kardashian?

    • @ninethreefivesix
      @ninethreefivesix 8 лет назад +8

      +Dee Zee Say what you want about Kim, but she is every bit as successful and accomplished as these women. Don't dismiss her just because you don't like her.

    • @wolfmerc11
      @wolfmerc11 8 лет назад +14

      Peta Rina Yeah I'm sexist for wanting to see more out of women other than sex. You have it all figured out, idiot. She isn't even shamed as I said she is FAMOUS for doing it. So I don't know where you get your info. She is mainly criticised for getting more attention from media for doing absolutely nothing when it is women like the ones in the video who should be more concentrated on. If anything you're a lot more sexist than anyone you chastise seeing as sex is all you want from women.

      Why are so afixiated with their gender, it's weird that you felt the need to bring it up. What does it matter what gender they are and any woman decides not to speak simply because of a presence of a man then I'm not sure I want to what she has to say.

    Taking in the serenity of this brief period of a majority of the comments being positive, before all the meninists, #NotAllMen, trolls arrive. Anything with "Women's Rights" in the title attracts the clash of tumblr users and 4 chan users, but in a way that only seeks to validate what these women are fighting for. *Womens rights shouldn't be controversial, it should be what everyone is fighting for*.

      +Peta Rina Why there is nothing about men's rights in mainstream media?
      A list of 5 legal rights women have that men don't:
      1. Women have the right to genital integrity. Men don't.
      2. Women have the right to vote without agreeing to die. Men don't.
      3. Women have the right to choose parenthood. Men don't.
      4. Women have the right to be assumed caregivers for children. Men don't.
      5. Women have the right to call unwanted, coerced sex rape. Men don't.

    Love Jihad & Women's Rights
    Are people who are fighting against Love Jihaad advocating only a certain people should marry only certain people? No.
    Any person is free to marry whoever HE/SHE is willing to marry. It's a free World.
    But the problem here is, A Muslim girl marrying a Hindu boy, or a Muslim boy marrying a Hindu girl - The law system in India is such that Muslims are given an exception to enjoy the personal laws & these personal laws are in so many respects are Anti Hindu, they have not had the kind of reforms took place in so far as that of Hindu laws are concerned.
    This puts all the Non - Muslim women who choose to marry a Muslim - boy at a disadvantage. So Non Muslim girl if chooses to marry whether out of intention/fraudulence, A Muslim boy, she will loose the right to, (i) Property, the way she would had enjoyed if she were not married a Muslim boy, (ii) She will loose right to divorce, (iii) She will loose right to Inheritance, Succession etc. in ways she would enjoy if she has not married a Muslim boy.....-

    It annoys me how they always say it was women who could not vote - it was those who were not landowners. So it included men. And doing a project based on the past does absolutely nothing to advance women's rights. Not pretending that Islam is a pro-equality religion would be a start, especially considering the Taliban's statement they'll rule based on Islamic law

  • @CaptainGlack
    @CaptainGlack 8 лет назад +8

    Women have ALWAYS had the right to vote, only people who owned land could vote 3% of the population could vote 100 years ago. There are quite a few records of women voting because they owned land. These people do not know the real history and it irritates me.

    • @patjones7001
      @patjones7001 8 лет назад +30

      That's such bullshit, woman were not granted to right to vote, even if they owned a property until 1918. Get your fucking history straight before you come on here and try to act like women didn't suffer under an patriarchal society

    • @colbertfan314
      @colbertfan314 8 лет назад +13

      +TheMacGuy Voting rights were extended to all white men by 1856, then to freed slaves in 1870 (ostensibly, though not in practice because of literacy tests and poll taxes) and then women began getting voting rights in individual states in the late 19th century. You can find more detailed information here: www.kqed.org/assets/pdf/education/digitalmedia/us-voting-rights-timeline.pdf
      I'm not sure what you mean about women owning land, considering that systems like coverture meant that women's legal rights and properties were subsumed into their husbands' estates. This meant that married women could not even legally own property from the beginning of coverture until the Married Women's Property Acts in the mid- to late-nineteenth century (depending on which country we're talking about).
      Timelines are a bit different in the US and Britain, but the 19th century was a time of increased voting rights for both countries. Claiming that only 3% of the population could vote in 1920 is invalid.
