A good speech only is not enough to change a Nation, look at where Uganda is now in terms of development compared to Kenya and Tanzania.
None of the passed 4 presidents of Tanzania could make such a speech but Tanzania is advancing so fast compared to Uganda. If it was the late Magufuli standing there ,I am sure many of you wouldn’t understand his speech clearly because he wasn’t a man words , he was a man of actions that’s why in just 5 years he was able to transform Tanzania which Museven failed to do for Uganda for the 39 years he has been in power.
Transforming a country requires much more than a good speech . The old man has failed to set up institutions in Uganda everything rotates on him, his family and tribe members. He is talking a bout private sector development, my friend go make research you will find out how many private companies/businesses he has brought down in the process of keeping power.
Musevi must go , Ugandans needs a new leader.

If you take the quality of speeches seriously, this speech falls short. An audience should be affected by a great speech. William Ruto's speech was more like that of the CEO or President of the IDA-World Bank. He was here to give the World Bank a round of applause. By far, President Museveni's address was superior to that of Ruto. I should give others a chance to speak before forming an opinion. But so far, his speech has been hollow.

I could not agree more. We are caught flat-footed each time floods come despite the frequency with which they come. Let us build reservoirs in draught-stricken areas and use canals to channel water to these reservoirs. Then we should harvest floodwaters mindfully so we don't lower the volume of waters flowing downstream as others depend on these waters too. Let's start the process before the next floods, as they are sure to return.

He is far from being an intellectual; Kenya seems to prefer tribal like elder leaders, lean on education, eg Jomo Kenyatta, Arap Moi, and now Ruto.

Ruto vs Museveni: It's amazing how Ruto still speaks with the same tone from 60 years which has no specific transformative interventions. All he's emphasising is Education, Health and Social welfare. This is not radical enough. It's like as a family that already has its children in school and receiving a fairly good health care and Social status goes ahead to borrow even more money for yet better schools, personal doctors and higher end Social amenities??? That was all I heard, Education, Health and social welfare. A family that wants rapid transformation would focus above the already achieved basic needs and invest in doubling (increasing) its farm output, expand revenue sources like real estate...to the extent of even borrowing with proper financing strategy.
Maybe it's a national security issue not divulging to much 'plans', but Ruto's speech was lacking in many areas

After listening to Museveni, Ruto is just blowing hot air with a poorly written speech.... This speech does not address any single issue..... it is just skirting around issues......The speech is very boring to say the least!!

When a person speaks like this, it's difficult to get actionables from their speech. The main problem of Africa are not addressed here, and there are no examples of what we can do. There are no solutions articulated except problems. No one is currying responsibility. There are just facts the status quo and a general call to action without any solit road map to solution
