I'm a Chevy guy and for good reason. First off for everyone who says Duramax engines sucks may I remind you that those were the first engines to introduce the common rail injection system. It took Ford and dodge several years to develop the same technology for their diesel engines. Once GM came out with the LBZ nobody came close to them. The 6.0 powerstroke was a disaster and the 6.4 was even worse. Cummins has always been reliable but they just didn't produce the type of power that duramax did out of the factory. Plus there's the added bonus of the crappy automatic transmissions. Sadly I must admit that chevy has succumbed to Ford and dodge ever since they came out with the 6.7 powerstroke and cummins. The 1000+ lbs of torque out of the newer dodges is insane. Regardless chevy still makes reliable trucks (when they don't have emissions) and can make lots of power and they still have the best transmission out of the 3.
First of all, I’m a Ford guy. You make good points, every brand has their downfalls and the lbz was at the top when it came out. I like the 6.0 because I’ve never had any issues with them. Mine has 228,000 and it’s stock with no major engine work. I used to own an 06 gmc dually with an lbz and it was reliable and powerful but to me it didn’t ride like a truck. It also squatted more than my Ford and didn’t have as much cab space. From what I’ve heard, Ford and dodge are putting much better transmissions in there trucks now. Overall, to each his own and everyone stop hating on each other’s trucks! Oh and I agree on the 6.4, your very lucky to get 200,000 miles out of them
@@asher7680 I like the 6.0 powerstrokes they sound amazing straight piped and can be good trucks. The problem is they typically need a lot of work. The high pressure oil pump is a booger to replace. The egr cooler is a pain to work on. The cam shaft position sensor is a common failure point. You have to stud the heads if you want to get any life out of the head gaskets. I applaud your truck for lasting as long as it has stock. There's always a gem somewhere along the line. I just hate the fact that you have to pull the cab any time you have anything that should be fairly simple to replace. Cab space in a Chevy isn't typically an issue unless you're in the back seat. It can get a little cramped sometimes. I'd like to get a 6.7 powerstroke one day though. They sound sick as heck. I'd like to own an l5p duramax too
It seems every engine has their own weak points. Powerstroke rods can break, Duramax pistons can crack, Dodge’s transmissions break, every manufacturer makes engines that enjoy blowing head gaskets. It’s all just a matter of how much power you can shove out of it before it breaks.
The controversy this video has caused. Why doesn't everyone just man up and stop being a load of 5 year olds and just like each engine. They're all really cool.
6.0 are notoriously quick off the line. Especially when boosting it as high as this guy. Its on the asphalt quarter where they loose due to torque. This would be a much different outcome in a 1/4 drag.
