  • The Calabash Kids - a folktale from Tanzania that teaches us to be mindful, not spiteful, of others' disabilities.
    SYNOPSIS:
Shindo, a childless widow struggling with the never-ending household tasks, had her life transformed when she received a mysterious gift of gourd seeds. As she nurtured these seeds, they sprouted into remarkable gourds, which she eventually harvested and brought home.
During Shindo's absence working on her farm, a remarkable occurrence transpired: the gourds miraculously transformed into children who eagerly and proficiently took care of all the domestic chores. Upon her return, she was delighted by their presence and the immaculate state of her home. However, the lesson of unconditional acceptance was soon learned as she grappled with the challenge of embracing these unusual, gourd-born children as her own.
