Hi! We advise against using coiled or wire-grid boxsprings with our mattresses as they will cause your mattress to sag prematurely. Boxsprings that do not use coils or wire grids, platform beds, adjustable beds, and slatted bases with slats no more than 3” apart and at least 2” wide are all compatible and can be used with a Douglas mattress.
@@sleepdouglasWhy is that? Just about every other mattress in a box doesn’t need spacing as tight as “Douglas” specifications to prevent sagging! One of your direct Canadian competitors (Dormir) doesn’t sag with wider spacing! Would like to know as I already have a “Douglas” Alpine mattress & I am going to purchase another soon for a different room! Obtw, I really like the “Douglas Alpine.”
@@davidkirkham6497 Hey, David! While we can't speak for every other mattress brand, the specifications we outline for our slats are fairly commonly seen from Canadian brands (eg. Endy, Silk & Snow, and others). Since we use high-quality, dense foams, our mattresses can carry more weight. More space between slats could cause premature sinkage. We want every Douglas mattress to stay in prime condition for as long as possible! We hope this answers your question, but don't hesitate to follow up if we can clarify anything further. We're very happy to hear you're a fan of your Alpine!
Thanks for reviewing Canadian mattresses.

Do you need a companion frame, or can a normal boxspring work with this mattress. Concerns? Recommendations?
